Room air flow and temperature distribution was numerically investigated where a PAC(personal air conditioning) system was installed. The calculated results were compared with those from experiments. The effects of the important operation parameters such as the air flow rate, velocity, and temperature at the diffuser on the thermal performance of the system were studied. The possibility of energy saving using the PAC system was verified from the results, It was shown that the warm air from the diffuser could not spread over the whole task area if the inlet temperature was too high.

The present study has been conducted for evaluating and comparing the performance of the underfloor air distribution system(UFAD) and the ceiling based air distribution system(CBAD) under cooling condition. Simulations and experiments were carried out for verifying the model by TRNSYS program about UFAD and CBAD. The results of simulation for various conditions of thermal load are summarized as followings. UFAD had an advantage for making thermal comfort because of lower temperature of the floor surface. Moreover, UFAD showed lower fan power about 30~50% than CBAD under the same conditions of thermal load. The energy saving rates of UFAD were increased to 17.7% in proportion to the thermal load on unoccupied zone(lighting). Ultimately, additional investigations should be done for analyzing optimized operating conditions of UFAD with considering the thermal performance of building envelop and the thermal load.
In this study, an underfloor air distribution(UFAD) system installed on the S. office building was evaluated for its indoor environmental quality performance. Field measurement and survey were conducted for the overall POE(Post Occupied Evaluation). PMV(including temperature, humidity, air velocity and globe temperature) and several environmental components were measured while thermal comfort, thermal sensation, acoustical environment and others. were investigated through survey. Except for the direct upper part of the air supply diffuser on the floor, the indoor velocity was less than 0.25m/s, which has been suggested by ASHRAES tandard 55 as the limit for thermal comfort. MRT of the perimeter zone of the room showed a higher value than that in the interior because of the introduced solar radiation through the building envelope. PMV was generally maintained in the range of thermal comfort (from -0.5 to +0.5), though it weighted to the warm side. It was reported to have 61% positive response on thermal comfort and 55% on neutral thermal sensation. The results of each survey item showed some gender-based differences. Specifically, female respondents had higher degree of dissatisfaction with indoor air cleanness and acoustical privacy. The working surface showed more than 400 lux and the equivalent noise level showed less than 50 dB(A). In conclusion, the results of the measurement and survey showed good agreement. Indoor environmental quality of the subject office room where the UFAD system was installed showed an overall excellent performance.
CFD code are used for numerically testing a new concept of large space air control system. A workshop with air-conditioners products lines and air-conditioned by several floor type air-containers is tested. The whole room air distribution is controlled by boosters installed in a middle height horizontal plane. First, calculated results are compared with measured data to confirm the validity and applicability of the prediction method. Next, the method is applied to case studies heating seasons. Results under some operating conditions show effectiveness in avoid the temperature stratification in winter.
The purpose of this study was to comparative analyses of energy performance in apartment houses adopted window frame-type natural ventilation, under-floor air distribution ventilation and heat recovery ventilation. As the object of energy simulation, the three type ventilation system with area of $84m^2$ was selected in apartment house. As a result, when the ECO2 simulation was performed, the 1st requirement quantity per annual were $159.9kWh/m^2yr$(CASE1, Natural Ventilation), $179.7kWh/m^2yr$(CASE2, Under-floor Air Distribution Ventilation) and $161.0kWh/m^2yr$(CASE3, Heat Recovery Ventilation).
This paper aims to develop the diffused reflection material in order to reduce the solar absorption coefficient, and to compare the thermal properties with the different roof structure system; one is using the diffused reflection material applied the upper side of the rigid sheet waterproof system and the other is using the conventional up-side down waterproof system on the roof. For this purpose two experimental test boxes were made of same iso-panel wall and floor with different roof system. The experiment was carried out under these process; measure the surface temperature exposed solar radiation of the variation of the reflection materials(cement paste, silica, galvanized steel and titanium dioxide(TiO2)), measure and analyze the variation of the temperature distribution of the each roof system and indoor air in order to evaluate the thermal properties according to the different roof system. The result shows clearly that using the titanium dioxide(TiO2) might be more effective to reduce the solar insolation.
The effect of airconditioning and heating system when aircurtains installed in subway electrical rolling stock at entrance door. It blocks cold/hot air of outside. It is good for health with its blocking effect against dusts exhaust fumes, odor bugs and smoke from outside. It always maintains clean and pleasant atmosphere inside. It helps you to have health with its ever-equal temperature distribution at inside. It saves lots of maintenance cost for heating/cooling (about 86$\%$) since it cuts the loss of hot air under heating as well as of cold air under air-conditionin. Customers can feel pleasant go in and out (better than before) with the door. It is an indispensable product for the employers to cut the cost. It makes customers feel pleasant near doors, since it isnt influenced by temperature difference of cold/hot air when the door opens/closes. In electrical rolling stock passenger temperature is a lot different from that the door opens/closes. One of the main aims is to create an acceptable thermal environment without draught problem. Temperature, gradients when aircurtains installed in subway electrical rolling stock at entrance door have been studied. And the temperature measured at 0.1, 0.5, 1.3, 1.7m above the floor. It has been found that temperature, with large fluctuations caused more draught influence.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the energy performance by applying new technologies for passive and active control. Method: We selected new technologies for passive and active control which are based on formal study by analyzing technology applied to the High-Performance Buildings in various countries. Also, we analyzed energy saving potential for each technologies by breakdown the result of the energy saving rates in detail. Result: For the wall and roof insulating methods, preceding studies showed that up to 21% energy could be saved by improving roof insulation and applying proper outside insulation compared to non-insulation. For the windows and glazing system, preceding studies showed that Low-E glazing system could save up to 11% energy compared to single glazing system. Studies about solar and daylighting controls revealed that effective daylighting dimming control could save 13% of energy compared to uncontrolled situation. Studies on DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air System) showed that about 23% energy could be saved compared to standard VAV system. Studies on the active chilled beam showed that about 25% energy could be saved compared to standard VAV system and studies of applying UFAD (Under Floor Air Distribution) could consume 31% less energy than applying overhead system.

This study aimed to determine the effects of root zone cooling using air duct on air temperature distribution and root zone and leaf temperatures of sweet pepper (Capsicum annum L. 'Veyron') grown on coir substrate hydroponic system in a greenhouse. When the air duct was laid at the passage adjacent the slab, the direction of air blowing was upstream at $45^{\circ}$. The cooling temperature was set at $20^{\circ}C$ for day and $18^{\circ}C$ for night. For cooing timing treatments, the cooling air was applied at all day (All-day), only night time (5 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Night), or no cooling (Control). The air temperature inside the greenhouse at a height of 40 and 80cm above the floor, and substrate and leaf temperatures, fruit characteristics, and fruit ratio were measured. Under the All-day treatment, the air temperature was decreased about $4.4{\sim}5.1^{\circ}C$ at the height of 40cm and $2.1{\sim}3.1^{\circ}C$ at the height of 80cm. Under the Night treatment, the air temperature was decreased about $3.4{\sim}3.8^{\circ}C$ at the height of 40cm and $2.2{\sim}2.7^{\circ}C$ at the height of 80cm. The daily average temperature in the substrate was in the order of the Control ($27.7^{\circ}C$) > Night ($24.1^{\circ}C$) > All-day ($22.8^{\circ}C$) treatment. Cooling the passage with either upstream blowing at $45^{\circ}$ or horizontal blowing at $180^{\circ}$ was effective in lowering the air temperature at a height of 50cm; however, no difference at a height of 100cm. Cooling the passage with perpendicular direction at $90^{\circ}$ was effective in lowering the air temperature at the height between 100 and 200cm above the floor; however, no effect on the temperature at the height of 50cm. A greater decrease in leaf temperature was found at 7 p.m. than that at 9. a.m. under both All-day and Night treatments. Fresh weight partitioning of fruit was in the order of the All-day (48.6%) > Night (45.6%) > Control (24.4%) treatment. A higher fruit production was observed under the All-day treatment, in which the accumulated average temperature was the lowest, and it may have been led to a higher proportion of photosynthate distributed to fruit than other treatments.
