This paper presents an LMI-based method to design a integral sliding mode controller for a class of uncertain time-delay systems. Using LMIs we derive an existence condition of a sliding surface guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamics. And we give a switching feedback control law. Our method is a generalization of the previous integral sliding mode control design methods. Since our method is based on LMIs, it gives design flexibility for combining various useful design criteria that can be captured in the LMI-based formulation. We also give LMI existence conditions of sliding surfaces guaranteeing a-stability or LQ performance constraint. Finally, we give a numerical design example to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
A decentralized adaptive control method is proposed for large-scale systems with unknown time-delayed nonlinear interconnections unmatched in control inputs. It is assumed that the time-delayed interaction terms are bounded by unknown nonlinear bounding functions. The nonlinear bounding functions and uncertain nonlinear functions of large-scale systems are compensated by the function approximation technique using neural networks. The dynamic surface control method is extended to design the proposed memoryless local controller for each subsystem of uncertain nonlinear large-scale time delay systems. Therefore, although the interconnected systems consist of a large number of subsystems, the proposed controller can be designed simply. We prove that all the signals in the total closed-loop system are semiglobally uniformly bounded and the control errors converge to an adjustable neighborhood of the origin. Finally, an example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed scheme.

This paper shows that design of a robustly stable repetitive control system is equivalent to that of a feedback control system for an uncertain linear time-invariant system satisfying the well-known robust performance condition. Once a feedback controller is designed to satisfy the robust performance condition, the feedback controller and the repetitive controller using the performance weighting function robustly stabilizes the repetitive control system. It is also shown that we can obtain a steady-state tracking error described in a simple form without time-delay element if the robust stability condition is satisfied for the repetitive control system. Moreover, using this result, a sufficient condition is provided, which ensures that the least upper bound of the steady-state tracking error generated by the repetitive control system is less than or equal to the least upper bound of the steady-state tracking error only by the feedback system.

This paper deals with the observer design problem for a class of state-delayed nonlinear systems with or without time-varying norm-bounded parameter uncertainty. The nonlinearities under consideration are assumed to satisfy the global Lipschitz conditions and appear in both the state and measured output equations. The problem we address is the design of a nonlinear observer such that the resulting error system is globally asymptotically stable. For the case when there is no parameter uncertainty, a sufficient condition for the solvability of this problem is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities and the explicit formula of a desired observer is given. Based on this, the robust observer design problem for the case when parameter uncertainties appear is considered and the solvability condition is also given. Both of the solvability conditions obtained in this paper are delay-dependent. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach.
In this paper, sliding mode controller for discrete-time nonlinear systems with uncertainties and disturbances are proposed. The concept of time-delay control (TDC) which consists of estimating the uncertain dynamics of the system through past observations of the system response is used. The proposed controller guarantees that the closed-loop system states are globally uniformly ultimately bounded (GUUB). It is also shown that the closed-loop system states are globally uniformly asymptotically stable (GUAS) if uncertainties are constant.
This paper considers guaranteed cost output feedback controller for the uncertain time-varying delay systems with delays in state and control input. The uncertainty in the system is assumed to be norm-bounded and time-varying. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and the guaranteed cost output feedback controller design method are presented. Also, using some changes of variables and Schur complements, the obtained sufficient condition can be reformulated as LMI forms in terms of transformed variables. Using the obtained LMI variables, we derive guaranteed cost controller gain and guaranteed cost.
This paper proposes new delay-dependent robust stability criteria for neural networks with time-varying delays. By construction of a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii's (L-K) functional and use of Finsler's lemma, new stability criteria for the networks are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be easily solved by various effective optimization algorithms. Two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
In this paper, the problem of passivity analysis for neural networks with time-varying delays and norm-bounded parameter uncertainties is considered. By constructing a new augmented Lyapunov functional, a new delay-dependent passivity criterion for the network is established in terms of LMIs (linear matrix inequalities) which can be easily solved by various convex optimization algorithms. Two numerical example are included to show the effectiveness of proposed criterion.
