New Robust $H_{\infty}$ Performance Condition for Uncertain Discrete-Time Systems

  • In this paper, we establish a new robust $H_{\infty}$ performance condition for uncertain discrete-time systems with convex polytopic uncertainties. We express the condition as a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which are used to check stability and $H_{\infty}$ disturbance attenuation level by a parameter-dependent Lyapunov matrix. We show that the new condition provides less conservative result than the existing ones which use single Lyapunov matrix. We also show that the robust $H_{\infty}$ state feedback design problem for such uncertain discrete-time systems can be easily dealt with using the approach. The key point in this paper is to propose a kind of decoupling between the Lyapunov matrix and the system matrices in the parameter-dependent matrix inequality by introducing one new matrix variable.

  • This paper deals with the robust stability of discrete-time linear systems with time- varying delays and norm-bounded uncertainties. In this paper, the magnitude of time-varying delays is assumed to be upper-bounded. The sufficient condition is presented in terms of linear matrix inequality. It is also shown that the robust stability of uncertain discrete-time linear systems with time-varying delays is related with the quadratic stability of uncertain discrete-time linear systems with constant time delay.

  • This paper presents intelligent digital redesign method of global approach for hybrid state space fuzzy-model-based controllers. For effectiveness and stabilization of continuous-time uncertain nonlinear systems under discrete-time controller, Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model is used to represent the complex system. And global approach design problems viewed as a convex optimization problem that we minimize the error of the norm bounds between nonlinearly interpolated linear operators to be matched. Also by using the power series, we analyzed nonlinear system's uncertain parts more precisely. When a sampling period is sufficiently small, the conversion of a continuous-time structured uncertain nonlinear system to an equivalent discrete-time system have proper reason. Sufficiently conditions for the global state-matching of the digitally controlled system are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs).

Also, by using the bilinear and inverse bilinear approximation method, we analyzed nonlinear system's uncertain parts more precisely. When a sampling period is sufficiently small, the conversion of a continuous-time structured uncertain nonlinear system to an equivalent discrete-time system have proper reason. Sufficiently conditions for the global state-matching of the digitally controlled system are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a T-S fuzzy model for the chaotic Lorentz system is used as an example to guarantee the stability and effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, an output tracking control technique of discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy systems is developed. The TS fuzzy system is represented as an uncertain multiple linear system. The tracking problem of TS fuzzy system is converted into the stabilization problem of a uncertain multiple linear system. A sufficient condition for asymptotic tracking is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). A design example is illustrated to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper focuses on congestion control for ATM network with uncertain time-variant delays. The time-variant delays can be distinguished into two distinct components. The first one is represented by time-variant queueing delays in the intermediate switches that are occurred in the return paths of RM cells. The next one is a forward path delay. It is solved by the VBR model which quantifies the data propagation from the sources to the switch. Robust $H_8$ control is studied for solving congestion problem with norm-bounded time-varying uncertain parameters. The suitable robust $H_8$ controller is obtained from the solution of a convex optimization problem through LMI technique.

  • This paper investigates the robust nonlinear H$_{\infty}$ filter with FIR(Finite Impulse Response) structure for nonlinear discrete time-varying uncertain systems represented by the state-space model having parameter uncertainty. Firstly, when there is no parameter uncertainty in the system, the discrete-time nominal nonlinear H$_{\infty}$ FIR filter is derived by using the equivalence relationship between the FIR filter and the recursive filter, which corresponds to the standard nonlinear H$_{\infty}$ filter. Secondly, when the system has the parameter uncertainty, the robust nonlinear H$_{\infty}$ FIR filter is proposed for the discrete-time nonlinear uncertain systems.

  • In this paper, sliding mode controller for discrete-time nonlinear systems with uncertainties and disturbances are proposed. The concept of time-delay control (TDC) which consists of estimating the uncertain dynamics of the system through past observations of the system response is used. The proposed controller guarantees that the closed-loop system states are globally uniformly ultimately bounded (GUUB). It is also shown that the closed-loop system states are globally uniformly asymptotically stable (GUAS) if uncertainties are constant.

  • This paper proposes a new linear robust state feedback controller for the linear discrete time systems which have uncertainties in the state and input matrices. The uncertainties need not satisfy the matching conditions, but only their bounds are needed to be known. The proposed controller is derived from the linear quadratic game problem, which solution is obtained via the modified algebraic Riccati equation. The controller guarantees the robust performance bound. The bound of the solution and the condition of the uncertainties, which can stabilize the uncertain system are explored.
