This study was conducted in order to evaluate the removal process for long-term contamination sources including chlorinated hydrocarbons (TCE and PCE) and explosive compounds (TNT, RDX, and HMX) in underground water using a pulsed-UV system. Crystallized cells containing the contaminants were placed 10, 20, and 40 cm away from a lamp that emits pulsed-UV rays in order to examine how the removal efficiency is influenced by the distance between the source of the light and the compounds. Chlorinated hydrocarbons were completely removed in 30 minutes with a distance of 10 cm, while PCE was completely removed even with a distance of 20 cm. In the case of explosive compounds, removal efficiencies slightly varied depending on the compounds. The majority of the compounds were perfectly removed with a contact time of 10 minutes. In particular, for RDX, the results showed that complete removal was obtained within one minute, regardless of the distance from the UV source. The amount of light energy is in inverse proportion to the distance, and thus the energy reaching the compounds severely diminishes as the distance increases. Therefore, the removal efficiency decreased with increasing distance in the system.
The photomachinable glass-ceramics of Ag and CeO$_{2}$ added to Li$_{2}$O-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$-SiO$_{2}$-K$_{2}$O glass system was investigated as a function of UV irradiation time. The temperature of optimum nucleation and crystal growth temperature were confirmed at 525.deg. C, 630.deg. C respectively using DTA and TMA. The phases of Li$_{2}$O.SiO$_{2}$ habit were lath-like and/or dendrite type and [002] direction of Li$_{2}$O.SiO$_{2}$ / Li$_{2}$O.2SiO$_{2}$ phases were changed according to the UV irradiation time by 400 W, 362 nm UV light source. Under that condition, the optimum UV irradiation time was 5 min.

For a human being's smooth activity, the clean air and comfortable lighting environment are needed. The suitable lighting environment is obtained generally by making it available for being formed the bright situation easy for seeing object and the visually comfortable atmosphere. In this way, even the lighting environment was changed along with economic development. Even a light source was diversified. Thus, several kinds of new light sources such as LED, OLED, PLS, and CNT came to appear. Halogen lamp, which has low efficiency due to high color rendering among lamps of being used now, is being much used yet. However, owing to radiation of UV and IR, there are many limitations to the subject in general exhibition lighting, museum, and art museum. Accordingly, a research was performed on filter that is blocked UV and IR at the same time, by using halogen lamp that is excellent in color rendering and in life.
Photochemical degradation of dimethyl phthalate (DMP) in Fe(III)/tartrate/$H_2O_2$ system was investigated utilizing fluorescent lamps as the primary light source. Effects of initial pH, light source, and initial concentration of each reactant on DMP photodegradation was examined. The results show that the system was able to effectively photodegrade DMP utilizing visible light. Fluorescent lamp, halide lamp, UV lamp and sunlight could all be used as the light sources. The optimal pH ranged among 3.0-4.0 for the system. Increases of the initial concentrations of Fe(III) and $H_2O_2$ accelerated the photodegradation of DMP, whereas excessively high initial tartrate concentration resulted in the decrease of photodegradation efficiency and rate of DMP.

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the shrinkage and expansion strain of ultraviolet (UV)-cured resin according to the wavelength of the light source and compare the shrinkage and expansion. Methods: We prepared the mold with according to the ISO 4049 specimen. The size of the circle in the mold was prepared with a height of 6.02 mm and a diameter of 4 mm. UV-curable resin for three-dimensional (3D) printing was injected into the circular mold. The control group was irradiated with a wavelength of 400~405 nm using UV-curing equipment (400 group), and the experimental group was irradiated with a wavelength of 460~465 nm (460 group). Both groups were produced ten specimens. The produced specimen was first measured with a digital micrometer. After the first measurement, the specimen was immersed in a constant temperature water bath for 15 days, after which the second measurement was performed, and the third measurement was taken after 30 days. The measured values were analyzed using the independent sample t-test (α=0.05). Results: In the non-immersion water tank, the contraction was 0.9% in the 400 group and 1.3% in the 460 group. In the constant temperature bath, the expansion was high at -0.4% in the 400 group for 15 days, and the smallest expansion was -0.03% for the 400 group for 30 days. There were significant differences between the two groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: The 400 group had a lower UV resin specimen strain than the 460 group. Therefore, it is recommended to use the wavelength required by the UV-curing resin.
The degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) in water was investigated in laboratory-scale experiments, using five advanced oxidation Processes (AOPs) $UV/H_2O_2$, lenten, photo-lenten, $UV/TiO_2,\;UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2$. The photodegradation experiments were carried out in a fluidized bed photoreactor equipped with an immersed 32 W UV-C lamp as light source. initial decolorization rate and COD removal efficiency were evaluated and compared. The results obtained showed that the initial decolorization rate constant was quite different for each oxidation process. The relative order of decolorization was: photo-fenton > $UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2$ > fenton > $UV/H_2O_2$ > $UV/TiO_2$ > UV > $H_2O_2$. The relative order of COD removal was different from decolorization: photo-fenten ${\fallingdotseq}$$UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2\;>\;UV/TiO_2\;>\;fenton\;>\;UV/H_2O_2$. The Photo-lenten and $UV/TiO_2/H_2O_2$ processes seem to be appropriate for decolorization and COD removal of dye wastewater.
In this study, mercury was removed by $TiO_2$ using fluorescent light and sunlight, instead of UV lamps. A reactor was specially designed to increase the $TiO_2's$ exposure to the light source and to make the rotational speed constant. The contacting surface area between mercury and adsorbents was increased by packing the adsorption bed with mixture of $TiO_2$ and glass beads. The mercury removal efficiency was more than 99% under all light sources tested in this study. The mercury removal efficiency was more than 99% under the fluorescent light or sunlight which is harmless and cheap or free.

$Eu^{2+}$, $Nd^{3+}$ co-doped $BaAl_2O_4$ are known as a long afterglow phosphor. We found that $Eu^{2+}$-doped $BaAl_2O_4$ showed ptotoconductivity in the range of UV and visual light. In this study, $BaAl_2O_4$:Eu thin film has been prepared by RF sputtering method and a sensing characteristics to UV and visual light was performed. Only $Eu^{2+}$ and $Nd^{3+}$ co-doped $BaAl_2O_4$ powders and targets for deposition were prepared by a convention solid state method, and the deposition was performed in a reducing $H_2$-Ar mixture gas on Si substrates. The observation of crystalline phase and morphology of the sputtered film were performed using XRD, EDX. The photoluminescence and photocurrent to UV and visual light were measured simultaneously using 300W-Xe solar simulator as a light source. It was confirmed that the photocurrent induced by irradiation of light showed a linear relationship to the light intensity.
The photocatalytic decolorization of Reactive Red 2B(RR2B) was studied using immobilized photocatalyst/UV System. Two pairs of 20 W UV-B and UV-C lamps were employed as the light source. Immobilization of $TiO_2$ was carried out using sponge (as the photocatalyst body) and silicone sealant(as the binder). The effects of parameters such as the thickness, pore size of sponge photocatalyst and attached material on the reactor bottom were investigated. The results showed that the optimum thickness of sponge photocatalyst was 1 cm. Decolorization of reactor which had the bottom coated $TiO_2$ was higher than that of reactor attached aluminum plate. Decolorization of photocatalyst with large pore size(mean pore size, 3.8 mm) was higher than that of the small(mean pore size, 1.75 mm). Initial decolorization of RR2B could be descrived using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood(L-H) model and gave constant values of $0.55mg/l{\cdot}min(k)\;and\;2.65{\times}10^{-2}l/mg(K)$, respectively.

A two-dimensional photonic crystal structure was investigated using a roll-to-roll nanoreplication and physical vapor deposition processes for the inexpensive enhanced fluorescence substrate which is not sensitive to the polarization directions of excitation light source. An 8 inch silicon master having nano dot array with a diameter of 200 nm, a height of 100 nm and a pitch of 400 nm was prepared by KrF laser scanning lithography and reactive ion etching processes. A flexible polymer mold was fabricated by flat type UV replication process and a deposition of 10 nm nickel layer as an anti-adhesion layer. A roll mold was prepared by warping the flexible polymer mold on an aluminum roll base and a roll-to-roll UV replication process was carried out using the roll mold. After the deposition of ~ 100 nm $TiO_2$ layer on the replicated nano dot array, a 2 dimensional photonic crystal structure was realized with a resonance wavelength of 635 nm for both p- and s-polarized light sources.
