  • The purpose of this research is to propose a method that measures facilities condition around the construction sites in real time. In a result, using the Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) technology, it was possible to monitor and share the data of facilities condition in real time. The proposed method can contribute to prevent and deal with danger promptly.

  • 본 연구는 노지에서의 와인용 포도 재배에 있어서 영향을 받는 환경적 요인을 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크(Ubiquitous Sensor Network)를활용하여 실시간 모니터링하며 적절한 조치를 신속히 취함으로써 와인용 포도의 품질을 높이고 안정적으로 와인용 포도 재배자가 원하는 수준에서 수확될 수 있도록 하는 시스템에 관한 것이다. USN 을 구성하고 있는 센서 노드는 재배자가 설치를 원하는 다수의 지점에 설치되어 온도 습도 등 환경 데이터를 수집하며 이 데이터를 바탕으로 서리, 강추위, 가뭄 등의 와인용 포도 재배에 피해가 예상되는 현상을 미리 예측하여 재배자가 선제적으로 대처할 수 있도록 하여 피해를 최소화하였다. 이 연구는 USN 기술을 통해 와인용 포도의 수확 품질을 향상시킬 수 있음을 보여준다.

Design of USN Communication Protocol Using Individual Chaotic Systems (개별 혼돈 시스템을 이용한 USN 통신 프로토콜 설계)

  • In the construction of USN environment, the implementation of a safe sensor network using wireless communications can be said to be the most important factor in the entire system. Although USN communication uses wireless communications to enhance accessability and non-contact capability, this results in the security vulnerability, thus endangering the system. In this regard, we propose a security protocol that can be effectively applied to USN, a multi-sensor network. The proposed protocol is a method using an individual chaotic system, and it is a security protocol to synchronize the main chaotic system mounted on each sensor and prepared key values into the initial values, and to communicate with the use of the synchronized values as symmetric keys. The communication protocol proposed in this paper is expected to yield good results as a new method to resolve security problems of USN and program capacity limitations of sensor nodes if subsequent studies continue to be carried out.

A Study on Time Synchronization Protocol to Cover Efficient Power Management in Ubiquitous Sensor Network (유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크를 위한 효율적인 시간 동기화 프로토콜 연구)

  • The sensor networks can be used attractively for various application areas. Time synchronization is important for any Ubiquitous Sensor Networks (USN) systems. USN makes extensive use of synchronized time in many contexts for data fusion. However existing time synchronization protocols are available only for homogeneous sensor nodes of USN. It needs to be extended or redesigned in order to apply to the USN with heterogeneous sensor nodes. Because heterogeneous sensor nodes have different clock sources with the SinkNode of USN, it is impossible to be synchronized global time. In addition, energy efficiency is one of the most significant factors to influence the design of sensor networks, as sensor nodes are limited in power, computational capacity, and memory. In this paper, we propose specific time synchronization based on master-slave topology for the global time synchronization of USN with heterogeneous sensor nodes. The time synchronization master nodes are always able to be synchronized with the SinkNode. Then time synchronization master nodes enable time synchronization slave nodes to be synchronized sleep periods. The proposed master-slave time synchronization for heterogeneous sensor nodes of USN is also helpful for power saving by maintaining maximum sleep time.

  • 지구온난화로 재난 재해가 날로 증가 되고 있으며, 그 규모도 대형화 되고 있는 추세이다. 재난 재해의 원인으로서는 자연적인 것도 있지만 인위적인 것이 큰 부분을 차지하고 있다. 이러한 재난 재해를 사전에 예방 및 통제를 목적으로 환경정보를 수집하여 위험상태를 판단하기위해 다양한 환경정보수집 무선통신기술에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 다양한 환경정보수집 및 시간 장소 설치 등에 많은 편리성 및 효율성을 갖으며, Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN)기반요소가 되는 Sensor Network Node를 연구 개발하였고, 이를 이용하여 USN 환경감시 및 통제 네트워크를 구축하여 실험을 통하여 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • We propose an image change detection algorithm implemented on sensor nodes of the ubiquitous sensor network(USN). The proposed algorithm was designed for the robust detection of image changes regardless of the continuously changing ambient illumination environment. Morphological lowpass filter was used for estimating the illumination component in order to reduce computational burden instead of the existing Gaussian lowpass filter. The decision of the change detection is based on the result of threshold of difference image between two consecutive images. We also propose a new thresholding method using precalculated histogram information. The proposed algorithm was implemented on the MSP430 16bit microprocessor.

  • USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network)기술이 다양한 분야에 적용하고 응용함으로서 센서 네트워크에서 발생하는 스트림 데이터를 효율적으로 처리하는 기술이 활발하게 연구되고 있다. 그리고 센서들에서 발생한 이기종 센서 스트림 데이터는 미들웨어의 메타데이터를 이용하여 센서 모니터링 환경의 상위 응용시스템에서 사용하기 적합한 센서 데이터로의 변환이 필요하다. 기존에 개발된 센서 데이터 처리 시스템에서는 동일한 노드나 지역에서 발생하는 센서 스트림 데이터에 대해서도 미들웨어에서의 불필요한 검색과 연산을 수행하기 때문에 본 논문에서는 캐쉬 테이블방식을 이용하여 중복적인 센서 스트림 데이터 처리의 수행을 줄일 수 있는 센서 스트림 데이터 처리 시스템의 설계를 제안한다.

  • This research dealt with the methodological procedures of ubiquitous sensor networks, applying to urban ground facilities. Recently Korean government established a guide, "u-City IT Infra guide v1.0" when promoting u-City implement projects. This guide conceptually included general processes about u-City mainframe in overall, but its guidance could not lead the detailed procedures and methods for specific ground facility. Therefore, this research proposed the details of the procedure for the intelligence of facilities after reviewing the existing procedures for ubiquitous city. Newly proposed procedure for the intelligence of facilities was consisted of selection of facility and sensors for intelligence, setting a level for intelligence, and suggestion of service model for the selected facility.

  • The various sensor nodes operating in Ubiquitous Sensor Network environment require the tiny Operating System different from the existing pc-type operating system because of their characteristics. Also Sensor Network operating system needs to support the rapid event handling which sensor node must implement. In this paper, we overcome the drawbacks of the existing sensor network operating system and propose the new kernel which is designed to assist developer to construct event-central operating system entirely. We also evaluate the performance of the super tiny sensor network operating system based on proposed kernel, comparing with that of the existing sensor network operating system.

  • Resently as ubiquitous environment rapidly emerges due to the development of network and information communication technology, ubiquitous computing is being noticed as a technology that will take the lead in information technology industry of the future. For the realization of this Ubiquitous Service requires some technique such as situations of environment and recognition of locations by the Sensor Network, then sensor data have to be transferred to an application service after processes. Also the creation rule of registration and search of the event is necessary because the USN sensor data must be possible to specific the multi condition of event which relates on using time. And for using a numerous sensor data provision service, service provider can publish its service in standardized registry for users to search and use the service registry. Currently there is the web service for a WS-Eventing and a UDDI with standard, but the event and the service registry is unnecessary or there is a portion which is insufficient. In this paper, I design and implementated standardzation of event definition for USN application service and service registry structure, standard API.
