  • The User Interface (UI) in the company is more important than ever. But the application of UI for the industry use is restricted by various constraints such as delivery, technical limitation, etc. User Interface designers in the company have thought how to set up the UI organization, how to define identity and goal, how to communicate with other teams, what is the best UI process, and many other issues. In this paper, the author discuss the practical issues arisen when User Interface organization is formed and managed based on the mobile phone manufacture's perspective. The pros and cons of location of UI organization, advanced UI organization, UI member formation, UI role, UI output, UI evaluation, and understanding of UI in the society and company are discussed. This discussion will help UI designers in industry to set up and manage UI organization.

The Business Activities in Ui-jeon and their Effects on Commercial Power in the 18th-19th Centuries (18~19세기 의전(衣廛)의 영업 활동과 상권 변동)

  • This paper summarized the forming, structure and management of the Ui-Jeon(衣廛) in Joseon Dynasty, considered the change of the commercial power of the Ui-Jeon in the $18{\sim}19th$ centuries. The Ui-Jeon was established the early period of the Joseon Dynasty. The Ui-Jeon merchants organized the association named Dojung(都中) and were in business with facilities like Haenrang(行廊) and Doga(都家). The Ui-Jeon was mid-sized Si-Jeon, the licensed shop(市廛). The Ui-Jeon held the monopoly of clothes. The Ui-Jeon merchants sold and bought old clothes, sold new clothes, lent the wedding dress for a bridegroom. The Ui-Jeon paid taxes and supplied clothes, goods and sewing labor for the marriage, funeral ceremonies of the royal family. The commercial power of the Ui-Jeon was threatened by free merchants(私商) named old clothes mercants(破衣商). Finally the Ui-Jeon merchants lost the exclusive right to clothes in 1791. After that, the Ui-Jeon merchanrs appealed to the government to give them the monopoly. The Ui-Jeon merchants regained the sole right to sell Ju-ui(紬衣), one item only, but it was temporary. Separately The Ui-Jeon merchants acquired the rights to collect the sub-taxes(分稅) from free merchants.

  • UI가 디지털 상품성에 중요한 요인으로 인식되면서 사용성 향상을 위한 기업들의 노력이 커지고 있다. 특히 사용자들의 충성도를 고취시킬 수 있다는 측면에서 일관성 있는 UI개발은 중요한 전략이다. 일관성 있는 UI 개발을 위해 기업은 UI 가이드라인을 개발하여 운영한다. UI 가이드라인은 단순히 좋은 UI 설계만의 문제가 아니며 기업의 사업 전략을 반영해야 하고 기술적인 로드맵을 예상하여야 하며 독자들의 명확하게 이해할 수 있어야 하며 끝으로 배포 이후의 원할한 운영의 문제까지 고려해야 한다. 본 논문은 SK Telecom의 SK Telecom Standard User Interface Requirements 개발 사례를 통해 UI가이드라인 개발 시 고려하여야 하는 사항들에 대한 어떤 해결책을 내놓았는지에 대해서 알아본다.

  • This study analyzes the lobby UI of the baseball manager game based on the mobile platform and proposes an optimized lobby UI. The UI layout-based detailed icons and button interactions in the four game lobbies are compared and analyzed by comparing and analyzing the common points and differences to finally calculate the optimized UI composition. Furthermore, based on the analysis, we intend to propose a lobby UI optimized for user-centered design.

  • UI (User Interface)는 끊임없이 진화한다. 사용자의 새로운 요구 사항을 만족시키기 위해, 기존 UI에 대한 불편 사항을 해결하기 위해, 경쟁 제품의 더 좋은 UI를 따라 잡기 위해, 그리고 새로운 기술로 기존에는 불가능했던 것이 가능해 짐으로 인해, UI는 지속적으로 더 좋은 방향으로 변화하고 있다. 특히 휴대폰과 같이 라이프사이클이 짧은 제품의 UI는 매 제품마다 UI를 변화시킬 수 없기 때문에 기업 입장에서의 전략적인 접근이 중요해 진다. 더욱이 충분한 검증 없이 이루어진 진화의 방향은 사용자가 원하는 방향과 일치하지 않게 되어 오히려 퇴화하는 문제도 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문은 UI가 생성, 유지, 융합, 소멸되어 가는 진화론적 발전 속성 및 그러한 속성에 영향을 주는 요소들을 살펴보고, 라이프사이클이 짧은 제품의 UI를 개선할 때 어떤 전략을 취하는 것이 기업 차원에서 좋은지를 설명한다. UI 진화 전략은 크게 점진적 개선을 추구하는 구릉식 전략과 한번에 도약하는 계단식 전략으로 나눌 수 있다. 위 두 전략들은 사용자 만족도, 개선에 필요한 비용과 그 가치, 개선 후의 리스크 (Risk)에 따라 장단점을 가진다. 결론적으로 본 논문에서는 두 전략 모두 서로 상반되는 장단점을 가지므로, 어느 한 전략을 취하기 보다는 UI 요소의 특성 및 변화의 규모에 따라 두 전략을 혼용하는 전략이 기업 입장에서 최적의 전략임을 주장한다.

  • Traditional Chinese patterns are known for their unusual and attractive visual symbols with unique artistic characteristics and practical values.In mobile game UI design, traditional Chinese pattern has important meaning and value in interface design.The research aims to extract elements of traditional Chinese patterns and apply them to the design of mobile game UI, and better fuse traditional patterns into the design of mobile phone UI.Through literature analysis on traditional Chinese patterns and mobile UI interface case analysis, we learned the design principles and design methods of traditional Chinese pattern elements in mobile game UI.

  • Innovator and Early Adopter are main clients of smart phone until now, but the silver generation enjoying price stability and the Internet emerges, so a strategy of the importance, systematic classification, and focus of a neglected class is needed. It is necessary to analyze UI that can departmentalize not a neglected class limited to the silver generation but potential users who can be voluntarily users and can secure them. To secure them, the researcher analyzes how Windows, Icons, Mouse Pull-Down-Menus(WIMP) of UI has been applied in the process that skeuomorphism UI of iPhone, Metro UI of MS, and Material UI of Google change. As a result of an analysis, skeuomorphism is not entirely new and has secured potential users slowly with a method to compensate and improve a part that users disregard. As a concept of touch UI, Metro UI considered potential users from the beginning but did not secure them with new and epoch-making UI. However, Material UI of Google compensates the weaknesses of skeuomorphism UI and Metro UI and emphasizes cost-effectiveness, so has developed into UI that can secure final consumers of potential users. Therefore, to secure potential users, it should make users themselves understand why they should use smart phone, and it should approach with more organized studies on UI through feedback of observation and direct talks.

Design and Implementation of the Performance Driven UI-Mashup Architecture (성능 주도의 UI-Mashup 아키텍처의 설계 및 구현)

  • UI-Mashup is widely used as a service method to add value, which is composed of distributed various contents on the internet and has turned out to be one of the latest trends in web application program development. Previous UI-Mashup-related studies have focused primarily on the dynamic service composition and have not been able to adapt to a rapidly changing Web Standard, thusthe end users conclude that UI-Mashups are slow, incompatible and poor security services. In this study, We propose an architecture for the performance improvements of UI-Mashup.In order to provide fast services and security enhancements, the proposed architecture collects UI fragments on the server in parallel, and sends layouts and contents of Mashups UI to the client through a special delivery channel supporting fast reaction and response time. In this study, the implementation and performance tests were proceeded to verify the proposed architecture experimentally. As a result of the performance testing, the proposed architecture has two to three times faster response time and more than four times throughput compared to the previous UI-Mashup technology.
