With increasing of interest in quad-rotor which has excellent maneuverability recently, a various types of multi-rotor aircraft was developed and commercialized, and there are many kinds of leisure products to be easily operated. In these products, the AR.Drone manufactured by Parrot has an advantage that it is easily operated by user due to the its internal stabilization loop in the on-board computer. Thus it is possible to design the unmanned UAV system easily by using this AR.Drone and its inner loop for the stabilization. For this advantage, KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has been developing the indoor swarming flight system by using multiple AR.Drones. For this indoor swarming flight, it is necessary that not only the position controller for each AR.Drone, but also the collision avoidance algorithm. Therefore, in this paper, the collision avoidance controller is provided for the swarm flight by using these AR.Drones.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (i.e., drone) are gaining a lot of interest from a wide range of application domains such as infrastructure monitoring and parcel delivery service. In those service scenarios, multiple UAVs are involved and should be reliably operated by so-called UAV management system. For that, we propose oneM2M standard based UAV management and control system which is specifically targeted at traffic management of low-altitude UAVs. In this paper, we include oneM2M platform architecture and its implementation for UAV management system in conjunction with UAV interworking procedure.

Recently, with a great deal of attention and utilization to the UAV like a drone, many application cases using UAV in various fields have been proliferated rapidly. These UAV, however, has many risks like balance deviation and drone crash due to the external environmental factors. The attitude control algorithm for UAV is the most important portion in order to maintain the safe management of UAV, and the best solution is PID control algorithm which is generously used and almost perfect attitude control technology nowadays. In this paper, we propose the smart attitude control algorithm using fuzzy logic in order to provide safe and continuous attitude control against external environmental factors, and compare the performance through simulation study between PID and our algorithm.

Applications of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the military environment have become popular because they require minimum human contribution and can avoid accidents during missions. UAVs are employed in various missions such as reconnaissance, observation, aggression, and protection. Consequently, counter-measures, known as anti-drone technologies, have been developed as well. In order to protect against threats from anti-drone technologies and enhance the survivability of UAVs, this study proposes an evasive measure. The proposed bio-inspired evasive maneuver of a UAV mimics a dragonfly's irregular flight. The unpredictable UAV movement is able to confuse enemies and avoid threats, thereby enhancing the UAV's survivability. The proposed system has been implemented on a commercial UAV platform (AR Drone 2.0) and tested in a real environment. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed flight pattern has larger displacement values compared to a regular flight maneuver, thus making the UAV's position is difficult to predict.
Recently, from a global perspective, the use of small unmanned aerial vehicles in terrorism and warfare is increasing, and the need for anti-drone shooting training targeting small UAVs is increasing. However, in reality, there are many cases in Korea where anti-drone shooting training is restricted, due to complaints such as noise. In this paper, we describe the development and testing of an electric-powered direct strike type high-speed, low-noise small aerial target drone. To achieve the flight speed and endurance required for shooting training, target drone sizing was performed, and aerodynamic performance analysis was conducted using a CFD program. Based on the performance analysis, the motor propulsion system was selected and a variable pitch propeller system was designed, and performance tests were performed on a ground test rig. Finally, the target flight speed, flight time, and flight noise level were confirmed through flight tests.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, drones) are becoming increasingly useful in a variety of fields. Advances in UAV and camera technology have made it possible to equip them with ultra-high resolution sensors and capture images at low altitudes, which has improved the reliability and classification accuracy of object identification on the ground. The distinctive contribution of this study is the derivation of sensor-specific performance metrics (GRD/GSD), which shows that as the GSD increases with altitude, the GRD value also increases. In this study, we identified the characteristics of various onboard sensors and analysed the image quality (discrimination resolution) of aerial photography results using UAVs, and calculated the shooting conditions to obtain the discrimination resolution required for reading ground objects.

In this study, a study was presented on the monitoring technique of landslide area using UAV. In the case of disaster investigation using drone mapping, it can be used at various disaster sites. The mission can be carried out at various disaster sites, including surveys of damage to mountainous areas caused by landslides, building collapses surveys of flood damage, typhoons, earthquakes. The damage investigation plan using drone mapping is expected to be highly utilized at disaster sites where investigators cannot access it like in mountainous areas and where it is difficult to conduct direct damage investigations at the site. Drone mapping technology has many advantages in terms of disaster follow-up, such as recovery. Compared to the existing survey system, which was mainly carried out manually, the investigation time can be drastically reduced, and it can also respond to disaster sites that are difficult to carry out or are difficult to access directly. In addition, it is possible to establish and guide spatial data at the disaster site based on accurate mapping data from the time of the disaster, which has considerable strength in managing the situation of the disaster site, selecting priority areas for recovery, and establishing recovery plans. As such, drone mapping is a technology that can be used in a wide range of sites along with natural disasters and social disasters. If a damage investigation system is established through this, it is believed that it will contribute significantly to the rapid establishment of recovery plans along with the investigation of disaster response time and extent of damage recovery.
Multi-rotor UAVs are utilized in various fields because of the advantages such that a hovering capability such as helicopters, a simple structure and a relatively high thrust. Recently, AR.Drone manufactured by Parrot is easily operated by beginner due to its internal stabilization loop in the on-board computer and it can be easily applied on various researches for the multi-rotor UAVs by providing an SDK(Software Development Kit). Further this platform can be suitably used for application to swarm flight since it is low cost and relatively small. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce the development process of the controller for indoor swarm flight by using the AR.Drone.

Unmaned Aerial Vehical(UAV) is a flight which is automatically flying by remote control on th ground. However UAV has an advantage of control that is easy, but has an disadvantage of not hovering. By comparison, quadcopter which is one of the UAV is easily operated. Also quadcopter has hovering function and high stability. In this paper, we propose stable flight algorithm associated PID(proportional-integral-derivative) control with fuzzy contorl to implement stable quadcopter system. After getting a positioning information of the drone, This proposed system is implemented for stable flight through flight attitude control using gyro and acceleration sensor. We also propose the flight mode system to hover drone with GPS sensor.

This paper is to design and implement the drone that supports a wideband multimedia communication and a long-range to save people in maritime. The drone is an Unnamed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that is controlled by a radio wave not by people boarding the machine. We use the drone to respond quickly to the boating accident. To develop a smart drone for the high speed seamless video streaming in a long-range maritime, a necessary techniques are hardware design techniques that design structure of a drone, controlling techniques that operate a drone and communication techniques that control a drone in a long distance. In this paper, the limitations and techniques to design and implement the structure of drone supporting wideband multimedia communication for long-range maritime are explained. By expanding this communication drone network, it is aimed at improving utility of a drone.
