온실가스 관리자 자격제도 도입 방안

  • 지구온난화 완화를 위한 세계적인 활동에 부응하여 우리 정부는 "저탄소 녹색성장 기본법" 및 동법 시행령을 제정, 공표하고 지구온난화의 주범으로 지목되고 있는 온실가스 배출을 줄이기 위해 "온실가스 에너지 목표관리제"를 도입하였다. 온실가스 에너지 목표관리제는 일정량 이상의 온실가스를 배출하는 사업체가 의무 보고 대상이 된다. 대상 사업장은 온실가스 배출 감축목표에 따른 이행계획을 수립하고 명세서를 매년 제출하여야 한다. 따라서 대상 사업장은 온실가스 에너지 관련 데이터를 관리하고 목표달성을 위해서 온실가스 및 에너지 관련 전문성을 가진 인원이 필요하며 이러한 인원에 대한 적격성은 개별 사업장에서 정의하고 양성하기에는 어려움이 따르기 때문에 온실가스 배출량 정량화 및 평가, 보고 및 내부 검증에 대한 전문가 자격제도의 도입이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 온실가스 에너지 관리자 자격제도를 도입하기 위한 방안을 연구, 온실가스 관리자의 역할 및 적격성, 자격구분 및 검정기준, 검정체계를 제시하고, 향후 도입 단계에 대한 방안을 제시한다.

  • Graft site distribution of graft polymer was derived from a statistical model. Theoretical model was experimentally confirmed by preparing well defined graft polymer and using gel permeation chromatography(GPC). The results indicate that metalation of substrate polymer is statistically random process and anionic graft reaction products consist of ungrafted free side chain homopolymer; graft polymer with different number of graft chains and free backbone molecules when the averaged in the graft sites are small.

  • A number of studies have been conducted on FRP shear strengthening of RC beams during the past decade. The test results indicated. that the strengthened specimens failed predominantly by debonding of the FRP sheets before reaching the rupture strength of FRP sheets. For this reason, limits on the effective strain in FRP have been incorporated in ACI 440.2R recommendation considering debonding failure. This paper presents the test results of 7 small scale RC beams shear-strengthened with glass fiber sheets. Three types of FRP configurations, such as two sides bonded, U wrap and fiber shear-key embedded, were considered. GFRP sheet were bonded vertically to member axis along the shear span. From the test results, it was found that debonding strain of GFRP sheets at failure decreased with the number of layers. In addition, effective strain of FRP proposed by ACI 440.2R recommendation has been verified in this study.

  • 해상교통안전에 영향을 미치는 여러 가지 해상 개발사업으로 인하여 발생할 수 있는 항해안전의 위험요인을 전문적으로 측정하고 평가하는 것으로 '해상교통안전진단제도'가 있다. 이제도의 주요 평가항목에는 해상교통 현황조사, 해상교통 현황측정, 해상 교통시스템 적정성 평가 및 해상교통 안전대책이 있다. 특히 해상교통 현황측정의 세부 항목 중에는 진단 대상 항만 또는 항로가 추정된 미래의 해상교통량을 수용할 수 있는지를 평가하고 필요 시 관련 해역의 교통 흐름을 조정할 목적으로 수행하는 해상교통혼잡도 평가 있다. 이 연구는 현재 교통혼잡도 평가를 위한 미래 해상교통량 추정기법의 문제점의 현황과 이를 개선하여 신뢰도 있는 교통량 예측이 가능한 통계기법을 개발하고자 하는 것이다.

The Anthocyanin Components and Cytotoxic Activity of Syzygium cumini (L.) Fruits Growing in Egypt

  • Four anthocyanins were isolated from the acidic alcoholic extract of Syzygium cumini fruits growing in Egypt: Pelargonidin-3-O-glucoside, pelargonidin-3,5-O-diglucoside, cyanidin-3-O-malonyl glucoside, and delphenidin-3-O-glucoside. They were identified by the chromatographic, TLC and PC, and spectral analyses, UV, $^1$H-NMR and FAB/MS. The fruits were found to contain 0.03 gm % anthocyanins calculated on fresh weight basis calculated by spectrophotometric assay. Cytotoxic activity of total alcoholic extract of the fruits was performed against several types of tumor cell lines using the SRB assay. The tested extract exhibited significant cytotoxic activity for MCF7 (breast carcinoma cell line) (IC$_{50}$= 5.9 ${\mu}$g/mL), while the IC$_{50}$ was > 10 ${\mu}$g/mL for both Hela (Cervix carcinoma cell line), HEPG2 (liver carcinoma cell line), H460 (Lung carcinoma cell line) and U251 (Brain carcinoma cell line).

The Impact of Demographic Variables on Family Value Orientations and Gender Role Attitudes : The International Comparison (가족가치관과 성역할태도에 영향을 미치는 인구학적 변인 : 국제비교 분석)

  • This study aims to examine how much Korean's family value orientations and gender role attitudes are different from those of U.S.A., Sweden, and Japan, and how demographic variables influence family value orientations and gender role attitudes across the countries. By using 2004 Korea General Social Survey data and 2002 International Social Survey Program family module, multiple regression analyses showed that Korean's family value orientations and gender role attitudes were much more traditional than those of U.S.A., Sweden, and Japan, even after controlling demographic variables. Furthermore, each country showed a distinct pattern in the impact of demographic variables on family value orientations and gender role attitudes. Among the demographic variables, age and marital status were statistically significant indicators of family value orientations for all the countries. However, gender, the year of education, and employment status effected on family value orientations only in some countries. The findings of this study showed that Korea was still traditional in terms of family value orientations and gender role attitudes, compared with U.S.A, Sweden, and Japan. Although family value orientations were more traditional in Korea than in the other countries, all the countries showed similar patterns of explaining mechanism in the effect of demographic variables on family value orientations. People who were men and married were likely to be more traditional than those who were women and unmarried. However, gender role attitudes showed interesting results. All the demographic variables were significant predictors of gender role attitudes for Korea, whereas only some of demographic variables were statistically significant indicators of gender role attitudes for other countries. That is, Korean society showed strong attitudinal differences on the basis of demographic variables. The implication of these differences was discussed.

Decreased Diethylnitrosamine-induced Liver Preneoplastic Lesions by Estradiol-3-benzoate Treatment

  • To clarify whether inhibitory effect of estrogen on liver tumor is associated with cell proliferation, we investigated its role in diethylnitrosamine (DEN)-induced rat preneoplastic lesions, with time sequenced manners. F344 male rats (n = 90) were divided into three groups at 5 weeks of age. The mini-osmotic pumps providing a continuous infusion of DEN was implanted into the abdominal cavity of each animal in group 1, 2 and 3 at 6 weeks of age. To see the effect of estrogen, pellet containing 1 or 10 ${\mu}g$ of estradiol-3-benzoate (EB) was implanted subcutaneously in the animals of groups 2 or 3, respectively, one week prior to DEN treatment. Ten animals of each group were euthanized at 10, 14 and 18 weeks after DEN treatment. Liver tissues at each time point were fixed in 10% phosphate-buffered formalin and were processed and embedded in paraffin and 5 ${\mu}g$ sections mounted on a silanized slide. Glutathione S-transferase placental form (GST-P) positive foci and 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine (BrdU) labeling cells were detected at each time point. Area of GST-P positive foci in DEN+EB 1 or 10 ${\mu}g$ group was significantly decreased compared to DEN alone at 14 weeks (p < 0.01 or p < 0.05, respectively) an at 18 weeks (p < 0.05 or p < 0.01, respectively). BrdU index in DEN+EB 1 or 10 ${\mu}g$ groups was significantly decreased compared to DEN alone at 14 weeks and at 18 weeks (p < 0.01). Taken together, we conclude that EB treatment decrease the DEN-induced liver preneoplastic lesions and this may be associated with decrease of cellular proliferation.

Species identification and pyrethroid resistance genotyping of recently resurgent Cimex lectularius and Cimex hemipterus in Korea

  • The global resurgence of bed bug infestations, exacerbated by increasing international travel, trade, and insecticide resistance, has significantly impacted Korea. This study identified the bed bug species and performed pyrethroid resistance genotyping of recently resurgent bed bugs in Korea. Thirty-one regional bed bug samples were collected from 5 administrative regions: Gyeonggi-do (n=14), Seoul (n=13), Busan (n=2), Jeonllanam-do (n=1), and Chungcheongbuk-do (n=1). The samples underwent morphological and molecular identification. Twenty-four regional samples (77.4%) were identified as the tropical bed bug, Cimex hemipterus, and the remaining 7 regional samples (22.6%) were identified as the common bed bug, Cimex lectularius. The C. hemipterus regional samples carried at least three mutations associated with knockdown resistance (kdr), including 2 super-kdr mutations. The 7 C. lectularius regional samples possessed at least one of the 3 kdr-related mutations associated with pyrethroid resistance. This study confirms that the prevalent bed bug species recently in Korea is C. hemipterus, replacing the previously endemic C. lectularius. Additionally, the rise in bed bug populations with pyrethroid resistance underscores the necessity of introducing alternative insecticides.

Association of chairside salivary aMMP-8 findings with periodontal risk assessment parameters in patients receiving supportive periodontal therapy

  • Purpose: The aim of this retrospective cross-sectional study was to evaluate whether salivary findings of active matrix-metalloproteinase 8 (aMMP-8) chairside (point of care; POC) tests were associated with periodontal risk assessment parameters in patients receiving supportive periodontal therapy (SPT). Methods: A total of 125 patients receiving regular SPT were included, and their records were examined. The following inclusion criteria were used: a diagnosis of chronic periodontitis, at least 1 non-surgical periodontal treatment (scaling and root planning) with following regular SPT (minimum once a year), at least 6 remaining teeth, and clinical and aMMP-8 findings that were obtained at the same appointment. In addition to anamnestic factors (e.g., smoking and diabetes), oral hygiene indices (modified sulcus bleeding index [mSBI] and approximal plaque index), periodontal probing depth simultaneously with bleeding on probing, and dental findings (number of decayed, missing, and filled teeth) were recorded. Salivary aMMP-8 levels were tested using a commercial POC test system (Periomarker, Hager & Werken, Duisburg, Germany). Statistical analysis was performed using the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, Fisher's exact test, and ${\chi}^2$ test, as appropriate (P<0.05). Results: Only the mSBI was significantly associated with positive salivary aMMP-8 findings (aMMP-8 positive: $27.8%{\pm}20.9%$ vs. aMMP-8 negative: $18.0%{\pm}14.5%$; P=0.017). No significant associations were found between aMMP-8 and smoking, diabetes, periodontal parameters, or parameters related to the maintenance interval (P>0.05). Conclusions: Salivary aMMP-8 chairside findings were not associated with common parameters used for periodontal risk assessment in patients receiving SPT. The diagnostic benefit of POC salivary aMMP-8 testing in risk assessment and maintenance interval adjustment during SPT remains unclear.

Fed-Batch Culture for Polyhydroxyalkanoate Overproduction by Pseudomonas sp. HJ (Pseudomonas sp. HJ로부터 Polyhydroxyalkanoate 대량생산을 위한 유가식 배양)

  • The production of polyhydroxyalkanoate(PHA) from glucose by batch and fed-batch culture of Pseudomonas sp. HJ was studied. In batch culture using fermentor, 400 rpm of agitalion speed, 2 vvm of aeration rate, 18 hours of inoculum age, and 5% (vlv) of inoculum size were optimal. PHA production was not increased by deficiency of oxygen. In a batch culture, the final call mass was $6.251g/\ell$, and PHA content was 20% of dry cell weight. In a constant feeding fed-batch culture, cell mass increased to $33.24g/\ell$, and PHA content reached 48.9% of dry cell weight. In an intermittent feeding fed-batch culture, cell mass increased to $37.89g/\ell$, and PHA content reached 53.5% of dty cell weight.
