A View on Extension of Utility-Based on Links with Information Measures

  • In this paper, we review the utility-based generalization of the Shannon entropy and Kullback-Leibler information measure as the U-entropy and the U-relative entropy that was introduced by Friedman et al. (2007). Then, we derive some relations between the U-relative entropy and other information measures based on a parametric family of utility functions.

  • Polymer collapse transition에 대한 연구가 많이 진행되어왔다. 허나 각각의 microstate에 대한 entropy나 free energy에 대한 계산을 하지는 못하였다. 최근 local nonequilibrium thermodynamics와 관련한 논문이 발표되었는데 이는 비평형 상태에서의 각각의 microstate에 대한 확률 분포를 결정하는 물리량을 발견 및 특성을 규명하여 이 중 특별한 상태가 지니는 "information" 이라는 양이 내부에너지와 엔트로피와의 상관관계가 있음을 보였다. 또한, 이러한 information theory를 이용한 Shannon entropy를 사용하여 entropy를 정의하고 free energy와 같은 물리량을 계산하였다. 따라서 이를 이용하여 information theory를 이용한 Shannon entropy와 이로 정의된 free energy를 이용하여 polymer collapse중 entropy 및 free energy를 계산하였다.

A CODING THEOREM ON GENERALIZED R-NORM ENTROPY

  • Recently, Hooda and Ram [7] have proposed and characterized a new generalized measure of R-norm entropy. In the present communication we have studied its application in coding theory. Various mean codeword lengths and their bounds have been defined and a coding theorem on lower and upper bounds of a generalized mean codeword length in term of the generalized R-norm entropy has been proved.

  • 이기종인 온주감귤 유전자(A=20.57, C=32.71, G=30.01, U=16.71%)와 커피 유전자(A=20.66, C=31.76, G=30.187, U=16.71%)는 95%이상이 유전자비가 동일하다. 이기종이면 일반적으로 유전자 결합이 안 되는 것으로 알려졌다. 그러나 유전자 기능적-유사성이 95%이상에서 Chargaff 룰과 Shannon Entropy 조건을 만족하면 접목이 가능하며, 새품종인 Coffrange가 된다. 우리는 DNA-RNA를 세계최초 BCJM 행렬로 풀어 미국특허 및 국제저널에 발표했다. 모든 동식물과 바이러스도 사람이 유전자와 비슷하다. 이점에 착안, 코로나-19와 인체의 유전자 특성을 풀어 영국 행렬교재에 6월 발표했다. 식물에서는 유전자 위치를 쉽게 바꾸는 기법인 BCJM-Transposon으로 처리한다. 시뮬레션에서는 행렬이 Cut & Paste와 Transpose로 성공할 수 있음을 예측했다.

통합생산량분석법에 의한 한국 서해 어획대상 잠재생산량 추정 연구 (A study on the estimation of potential yield for Korean west coast fisheries using the holistic production method (HPM))

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate potential yield (PY) for Korean west coast fisheries using the holistic production method (HPM). HPM involves the use of surplus production models to apply input data of catch and standardized fishing efforts. HPM compared the estimated parameters of the surplus production from four different models: the Fox model, CYP model, ASPIC model, and maximum entropy model. The PY estimates ranged from 174,232 metric tons (mt) using the CYP model to 238,088 mt using the maximum entropy model. The highest coefficient of determination ($R^2$), the lowest root mean square error (RMSE), and the lowest Theil's U statistic (U) for Korean west coast fisheries were obtained from the maximum entropy model. The maximum entropy model showed relatively better fits of data, indicating that the maximum entropy model is statistically more stable and accurate than other models. The estimate from the maximum entropy model is regarded as a more reasonable estimate of PY. The quality of input data should be improved for the future study of PY to obtain more reliable estimates.

VS계 반응염료 가수분해반응의 열역학적 해석 (Thermodynamic Analysis on the Hydrolysis Reaction of Vinylsulfonyl Reactive Dyes)

  • The hydrolyses of ten VS dyes were examined at 40$^{\circ}C$, 50$^{\circ}C$, and 60$^{\circ}C$ and the kinetic parameters were estimated. The values of free energy, enthalpy and entropy of hydrolysis and reaction with cellulose for VS dyes were calculated. The linear relationship exist between the enthalpy and entropy. The structure and entropy of VS dyes gave a effect on the dimerization for VS reactive dyes. The VS dyes have small value of entropy were formed dimer. It was confirmed that no dimer form for m-substituted VS dyes. There were similarities among various reactions including homo- and mixed dimerization.

Theoretical Study of the Hydration Effects on the Conformation of N-pivaloyl-L-prolyl-N-methyl-N'-isopropyl-L-alaninamide

  • To investigate the hydration effects on the conformational changes of N-pivaloly-L-prolyl-N-methyl-N'-isopropyl-L-alanin amide (PPMIA), the conformational free energy changes have been calculated by using an empirical potential function varying all the independent degrees of freedom of PPMIA backbones. It is found that cis conformers are folded by a strong intramolecular hydrogen bond involving both terminal CO and NH groups whereas trans conformers accommodate the open conformation. Conformers in the free state are proved to be less stable than in the hydrated state. The free energy changes of cis and trans PPMIA due to the hydration are -50.5 and -39.8 kcal/mole, their conformational energy changes are -52.3 and -41.0 kcal/mole, and their conformational entropy changes are -5.9 and -4.0 e.u., respectively. The free energy changes of cis PPMIA to trans PPMIA in the free and hydrated states are 5.3 and 16.0 kcal/mole, their conformational energy changes are 7.6 and 18.8 kcal/mole, and the entropy changes due to the conformational transitions correspond to 7.5 and 9.4 e.u., respectively. From these results, it is found that the bound water molecules play an important role in stabilizing the conformation of PPMIA.

  • 본 연구에서는 수자원 기초자료 중 매우 중요하고 효과적인 유량측정방법을 위해 가장 먼저 결정하여야할 평균유속을 어떻게 결정할지를 제안코자 하며, 이를 위하여 현재까지 가장 널리 응용되고 있는 평균유속공식인 Manning공식과 최근에 그 효용성이 입증된 Chiu의 유속공식과의 상호관계에 대하여 분석 검토하여, 수로경사가 변화하는 경우나 유사유무에 관계없이 주어진 단면에서의 엔트로피 값, 즉 평형상태를 유지하려는 경향이 있음을 증명하였다. 따라서 인공수로에 관련된 간단한 수리입력 자료만 있다면 그동안 취득하기 어려운 $u_{max}$와 전체유속분포 산정에 매우 유용하게 사용될 수 있다고 사료된다.

Passive Millimeter-Wave Image Deblurring Using Adaptively Accelerated Maximum Entropy Method

  • In this paper we present an adaptive method for accelerating conventional Maximum Entropy Method (MEM) for restoration of Passive Millimeter-Wave (PMMW) image from its blurred and noisy version. MEM is nonlinear and its convergence is very slow. We present a new method to accelerate the MEM by using an exponent on the correction ratio. In this method the exponent is computed adaptively in each iteration, using first-order derivatives of deblurred image in previous two iterations. Using this exponent the accelerated MEM emphasizes speed at the beginning stages and stability at later stages. In accelerated MEM the non-negativity is automatically ensured and also conservation of flux without additional computation. Simulation study shows that the accelerated MEM gives better results in terms of RMSE, SNR, moreover, it takes only about 46% lesser iterations than conventional MEM. This is also confirmed by applying this algorithm on actual PMMW image captured by 94 GHz mechanically scanned radiometer.

Precise segmentation of fetal head in ultrasound images using improved U-Net model

  • Monitoring fetal growth in utero is crucial to anomaly diagnosis. However, current computer-vision models struggle to accurately assess the key metrics (i.e., head circumference and occipitofrontal and biparietal diameters) from ultrasound images, largely owing to a lack of training data. Mitigation usually entails image augmentation (e.g., flipping, rotating, scaling, and translating). Nevertheless, the accuracy of our task remains insufficient. Hence, we offer a U-Net fetal head measurement tool that leverages a hybrid Dice and binary cross-entropy loss to compute the similarity between actual and predicted segmented regions. Ellipse-fitted two-dimensional ultrasound images acquired from the HC18 dataset are input, and their lower feature layers are reused for efficiency. During regression, a novel region of interest pooling layer extracts elliptical feature maps, and during segmentation, feature pyramids fuse field-layer data with a new scale attention method to reduce noise. Performance is measured by Dice similarity, mean pixel accuracy, and mean intersection-over-union, giving 97.90%, 99.18%, and 97.81% scores, respectively, which match or outperform the best U-Net models.
