U-Commerce in Service Space : Business Model Analysis and Case Study (서비스 공간에서의 유비쿼터스 상거래 비즈니스 모델 분석 및 사례연구)

  • Previous U-Commerce researches have dealt with the business support systems for traditional commerce space such as real world shopping malls. This paper investigates U-Commerce business models in service space. The McDonald's Touch-Order case is analyzed from business model perspective and the Media-Embedded Place business model is introduced as a U-Commerce business model for value creation in service space. The media-embedded place business model attaches auto-identification tags to tables or billboards, triggers commercial transaction through the tags, and shares the revenues and the incentives among the place owners and commerce/content providers. This paper analyzes its scenario and applications and illustrates the profitability analysis using so-called 'tag evaluation model'.

Effect of e-Commerce History on Consumer Perception: A comparative study of United States of America versus Vietnam

  • Currently, Mobile-commerce is active around the world, and consumers' online activities have changed significantly from pc-base to mobile-base. Unlike IT advanced countries such as the United States, which experienced PC-based online commerce (hereafter, PC-commerce) before Mobile-commerce, developing countries such as Vietnam have a relatively short history of PC-commerce. Consumers' experience with PC-commerce may affect their acceptance and use of Mobile-commerce. In this study, we tried to see if different online commerce histories differently affect consumers' online purchasing behavior. We selected the United States and Vietnam, with longer PC-commerce experience and shorter one, respectively. Data were collected for the following four groups: 1) the U.S. PC-commerce (n=256), 2) the U.S. Mobile-commerce (n=283), 3) the Vietnamese PC-commerce (n=159), and 4) the Vietnamese Mobile-commerce (n=225). As results, it was first confirmed that different e-commerce histories in developed and developing countries make the online shopping process different. Second, navigability has a huge impact on consumers' decision support satisfaction in Vietnam where PC-commerce history is shorter. Third, we identified that pre-purchase phase is more related with decision support satisfaction and that purchase phase is more related with task support satisfaction.

  • RFID and Kiosk has been acquiring the essential position not only for providing simple information but also as the tool for establishing Ubiquitous based society. Especially it can be said that the time for developing various Kiosks as important methods to conducting marketing and service through the differentiation and easiness on dealing information has come. Considering the present requirement, 'U-Commerce System' has been designed and developed. In the system, the RFID reader installed in 'U-Shop Kiosk System' recognizes the RFID tag on situated the specific products and detail product information and related multimedia advertisement are provided. Moreover, when the customers have the needs to purchase concerned products on the spot, they can pay and order by using credit cards. By employing the system, the amount of stock and delivery condition can be monitored in real time and the gathered information in DB can be used for dealing with stock related matters. In addition, a system can be developed to monitor and manage the remote shops in real time base. Furthermore, to overcome the limit of simple unmanned ubiquitous style Kiosk, the possibility of developing an expansion model of ubiquitous style CRM Kiosk has been suggested.

  • B2C is not doing well in Asia and Pacific countries in comparison to U.S. and Europe. But there is misunderstanding of low growth of B2C electric commerce caused by cultural factor. Consumers in market are rational to decide their purchase according to total cost - market price and transaction cost. I examined this with data of Korea and U.S. Transaction cost in real market is less in Korea than in U.S. but that of electric commerce, it is much less in U.S. As a result, the choice of consumers in Korea is real market transaction while consumers in U.S. choose electric commerce.

  • This paper reviews the distinctive characteristics between e-Trade and e-Commerce in view of commercial arbitration in Korea and explores several improvements for the role of commercial arbitration. As the volume of e-Trade and e-Commerce has expanded day by day, there will be more disputes between traders no matter where the commerce may occur. But despite increasing of the disputes relating to e-Commerce transaction, it seems that the role of commercial arbitration has been shrunk instead. Korea needs to improve the role of commercial arbitration in order to meet and lead the age of u-Trade Hub(u-TH) service and to adopt an offensive or active attitude when arbitration used. Moreover, it is suggested that the competence of arbitration should not only be intensified more precisely but also be redesigned more systematically. Korea should take advantage of arbitration resources actively such as arbitrators as human resource and experiences as knowledge assets and also prepare the policy for sharing those arbitration resources between arbitrators more effectively.

  • Seamlessness is the Keyword of U-Commerce Which may be defined as the commercial interaction among providers, consumers, products, and services, enabled and supported especially by the real-world seamless communication of each entity and object's digital information. However, the possibility of the seamless transactions increases the privacy risk of the entities involved. Therefore, the core issue of U-Commerce is how to promote seamless transactions while protecting the privacy. for the seamlessness, the role of incentive-emphasized business model is important since the seamlessness makes clear which economic entities contribute to a commercial transaction. Economic entities will reject the seamless transactions unless the sufficient incentives are given to them. In order to consider the privacy issue, we suggest an alternative U-Commerce architecture based on Hybrid P2P Model and Personal Information Base.

  • Under U.S. Antidumping law, dumping occurs when 'subject merchandise' is imported into the United States and sold at less than 'fair value'. The administration of U.S. antidumping law is shared between the U.S. Department of Commerce(USDOC) and the U.S. International Trade Commission(USITC). USDOC's task is to determine whether imports are being dumped, and if so, to estimate the margin of dumping. In determining whether an industry in the United States is materially injured or threatened with material injury, or the establishment of an industry in the United States is materially retarded, by reason of the subject imports, the USITC must first define the 'like product' and the 'domestic industry'. One of the crucial factors on antidumping measures is the interpretation's scope of the 'like product' and the 'domestic industry', leading the most controversial issues in U.S. antidumping law. The primary purpose of this paper is to examine the 'domestic industry' and 'like product' considering U.S. antidumping law. Most USITC's determinations regarding like product and industry as flexible conception have been supported by the U.S. Courts.

The Economic and non-Economic Analysis of U.S.-China Trade Deficits

  • While the bilateral trade volume between China and U.S. has been growing rapidly, the trade deficits of U.S. to China has also been expanding. This growing trade deficit of U.S. to China has several reasons: the increase of foreign direct investment to China, the transfer of trade deficit origins, the intervention of U.S. domestic politics to China-U.S. trade relations, and U.S. direct control on export to China. However, the increased U.S. trade deficit to China does not mean that U.S. is in a disadvantaged position in its economic relations with China, or its international competitiveness is deteriorating. When U.S. surplus in service trade to China is included, the picture would be very different. Also, as internationalization progresses and China's industrial structure adjusts, the trade deficit of U.S. to China would narrow.

  • 휴대용멀티미디어플레이어(이하 PMP)는 2004년 국내에 등장하여 음악과 더불어 영화 및 동영상을 볼 수 있도록 해주고 있는 인기 있는 개인용 전자기기이다. 그러나 수요가 둔화되고, 업체들의 경쟁이 치열해지면서 새로운 기능, 새로운 서비스에 대한 개발이 대두되고 있다. 최근에는 네비게이션 서비스, 학습서비스가 시행되면서 다시 수요가 살아나는 추세이다. 이에 따라 현재 존속하는 서비스에 대한 평가 및 새로운 서비스에 대한 검증이 요망되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소비자 니즈 조사를 분석함으로써 현재 이용되고 있는 서비스들의 상황을 분석하고, 신규 서비스에 대한 수요 가치를 분석하였다. 분석 대상이 된 기존 상용 서비스는 게임, DMB, 영화, 음악, 네비게이션, 전자사전, 전자책, 이러닝, 만화, 무선인터넷였고, 신규 서비스는 u-Commerce, u-Health, u-Security, u-Public였다. 본 연구결과 PMP 응용 수요선호도 순위는 영화, TV, 음악 순이었으며, 신규서비스 u-Commerce, u-Health, u-Security, u-Public 옵션들에 대한 구매의향 평균가는 68,102원으로 나타났다.

  • uEFL is an open source solution to integrate general business/learning activities and processes. uEFL is originally developed to adopt LD (Learning Design) specification, which represents learning as various combination of learning activities with learning conditions and outcomes. Learning activities are described with participant's role, learning environment, and contextual sequence. This viewpoint resembles BPM (Business Process Modeling). uEFL can convert LD to BPM description. uEFL engine can run converted LD activity with other business activities. This paper presents 4 templates and 2 sample models for uEFL. The templates and models will show how learning activities can be integrated with business activities efficiently.
