A Study on the Optimization of IoU (IoU의 최적화에 관한 연구)

  • IoU (Intersection over Union) is the most commonly used index in target detection. The core requirement of target detection is what is in the image and where. Based on these two problems, classification training and positional regression training are needed. However, in the process of position regression, the most commonly used method is to obtain the IoU of the predicted bounding box and ground-truth bounding box. Calculating bounding box regression losses should take into account three important geometric measures, namely the overlap area, the distance, and the aspect ratio. Although GIoU (Generalized Intersection over Union) improves the calculation function of image overlap degree, it still can't represent the distance and aspect ratio of the graph well. As a result of technological progress, Bounding-Box is no longer represented by coordinates x,y,w and h of four positions. Therefore, the IoU can be further optimized with the center point and aspect ratio of Bounding-Box.

Recyclable Objects Detection via Bounding Box CutMix and Standardized Distance-based IoU (Bounding Box CutMix와 표준화 거리 기반의 IoU를 통한 재활용품 탐지)

  • In this paper, we developed a deep learning-based recyclable object detection model. The model is developed based on YOLOv5 that is a one-stage detector. The deep learning model detects and classifies the recyclable object into 7 categories: paper, carton, can, glass, pet, plastic, and vinyl. We propose two methods for recyclable object detection models to solve problems during training. Bounding Box CutMix solved the no-objects training images problem of Mosaic, a data augmentation used in YOLOv5. Standardized Distance-based IoU replaced DIoU using a normalization factor that is not affected by the center point distance of the bounding boxes. The recyclable object detection model showed a final mAP performance of 0.91978 with Bounding Box CutMix and 0.91149 with Standardized Distance-based IoU.

Effects of Box Shape and Diverse Components of Large-Sized Products on Consumers' Product Evaluations in Logistic Business

  • Purpose - With the recent spread of COVID-19, U.S. consumers' consumption pattern is changing towards purchasing large-capacity products, as they stay at home longer. Thus, the current research investigates the effects of box shape and component diversity for large-sized products on product evaluation in logistic business. Moreover, this research examines that information-processing fluency mediates the moderating effects of box shape and product components on target evaluations to confirm psychological mechanism for generating this effect. Design/methodology - In order to examine the hypotheses, the current research conducts two online experiments. The 184 participants (Study 1), and 205 participants (Study 2) of U.S. nationality were recruited through Amazon Mechanical Turk. This research analyzes the data by using SPSS 25 and PROCESS macro 4.0. Findings - Study 1 demonstrates that when the height of a box is greater than its width, products with single components promote positive target evaluations, while when the width of box is greater than its height, products with a variety of components lead to positive target evaluations. Study 2 shows that the same results are replicated in other product categories and with different box shape ratios. Moreover, Study 2 also finds that the ease of information processing mediates the interaction effects of box shape and component diversity on U.S. consumers' target evaluations. Originality/value - The current research has originality in that it investigates the effect of box shape and product composition diversity on U.S. consumer product evaluation from the perspective of information-processing theory Moreover, this research has practical implications for global traders who prepare for entering the U.S. market.

A Case Study on Global Educational Innovation using U-Learning Box and Ubiquitous-based Test (유러닝 박스와 유비쿼터스 기반의 시험 시스템을 이용한 글로벌 교육 혁신 사례 연구)

  • In this paper, we present the results of educational innovation case study using U-Learning Box and Ubiquitous-based Test(UBT) system for 6 sample primary schools in Nepal. As Nepal is considered to be a developing country with electricity problem to the school, the U-Learning Box, consisting of a small and easy-to-use tablet PC for teacher and a small smart beam with its own battery was evaluated as the optimum solution to support continuous basic English and hygiene education for these schools. And UBT technology using tablet PC was used to evaluate and analyze basic English learning ability of the students, which helped us realized that it is necessary to improve the educational environment and develop suitable educational contents. We hope that the global educational innovation using U-Learning Box and UBT technology will become a successful model for global equality of educational opportunity project for developing countries including Nepal.

Development of Vehicle Oriented Black Box System Based on U-Healthcare and Human-Free Guard Functions

  • The vehicle oriented block box system based on the u-healthcare and the human-free guard functions is developed in this paper. We also suggested the design philosophies, ideas, and analyzed the performance of the suggested system. The developed vehicle oriented black box system has some characteristics such as; 1) detects the dangerous situation by ultrasonic sensor in advance, and stores the situation information of the neighborhood of the vehicle to the imbedded SD memory card if the dangerous situation may be occurred in the parked vehicle; 2) detects the present location and speed information of the vehicle by GPS receiver and 3-axes acceleration sensor, and stores the information to the SD memory card periodically if the vehicle is running; 3) measures the dioxide carbon in the vehicle inside using $CO_2$ sensor, and forces the ventilation motor of the vehicle to operate and maintains the driver's health if the measured level is more than standard health requirements; 4) provides the stored vehicle's operating information to the driver by GUI (Graphical User Interface) based touch LCD monitor.

Research on the longitudinal stress distribution in steel box girder with large cantilever

  • There are numerous structural details (Longitudinal beam, web plate, U-ribs and I-ribs) in the top and bottom plates of steel box girders, which have significant influences on the longitudinal stress (normal stress) distribution. Clarifying the influence of these structural details on the normal stress distribution is important. In this paper, the ultra-wide steel box girder with large cantilevers of the Jinhai Bridge in China, which is the widest cable-stayed bridge in the world, has been analyzed. A 1:4.5 scale laboratory model of the steel box girder has been manufactured, and the influence of structural details on the normal stress distribution in the top and bottom plates for four different load cases has been analyzed in detail. Furthermore, a three-dimensional finite element model has been established to further investigate the influence regularity of structural details on the normal stress. The experimental and finite element analysis (FEA) results have shown that different structural details of the top and bottom plates have varying effects on the normal stress distribution. Notably, the U-ribs and I-ribs of the top and bottom plates introduce periodicity to the normal stress distribution. The period of the influence of U-ribs on the normal stress distribution is the sum of the single U-rib width and the U-rib spacing, and that of the influence of I-ribs on the normal stress distribution is equal to the spacing of the I-ribs. Furthermore, the same structural details but located at different positions, will have a different effect on the normal stress distribution.

A Study on Properties of High Fluidity Concrete adding Waste Marble Powder (폐대리석 분말을 혼입한 고유동 콘크리트의 특성)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate properties of high fluidity concrete adding waste marble powder. A change in the replacement ratios of waste marble powder was measured compressive strength and slump flow, O-Lot and U-Box. Waste marble powder has replaced binder of high fluidity concrete at certain contents of 0~20%. As a results, Slump flow, O-Lot and U-box adding waste marble powder up to 10% have increased by adding waste marble powder. As the concrete with a replacement ratio of waste marble powder up to 10% was found to have a compressive strength superior to that of plain.

As a results, Slump flow and U-box using waste marble powder tend to increase slump flow and compacting with replacement ratio. As the concrete with a replacement ratio of copper slag up to 10% was found to have a compressive strength superior to that of plain.

  • PSC box bridge by MSS construction method may not be set at cross section at one step. Web and bottom flange(U member) would be set at first, top flange will be set later with a time lag. In this case, U member and top flange concrete have different strain history. As two different aged section behaves as the composite section, there would happen the redistribution of stress. This is come from time-dependent strain characteristics of concrete itself. In this study, two models are considered, one with considering the set time of cross section and the other without. By performing longitudinal analysis of two models on considering construction stage, the stress differences of two are compared. As the analysis results show a considerable differences in the stresses of cross section between two models, the set time of cross section is needed for rational design f PSC box girder bridge.
