  • The purpose of the study is to analyze the regional effectiveness of wall-plantings by applying a biotope area ratio when wall-plantings are constructed in high density areas. For this, this study required a sample of the wall-planting's regional plan. Therefore, types of wall-planting were determined and applied to a sample site. Four types of wall-plantings were developed by formative features and functional features. Type "A" had simple and functional features, Type "B" had both mixed and functional features, Type "C" had both simple and landscape features and Type "D" had mixed and landscape features. Jung-gu District in Seoul was chosen as the sample site. Total investigations were performed three times for three months from June to August, 2011. Total green-able walls were located in 498 places with a total length of 8,449m and gross vertical area of $23,754.90m^2$. The classification results of total green-able walls by the four types were Type "A" at $1,936.65m^2$, Type "B" at $5,875.30m^2$, Type "C" at $12,487.85m^2$ and Type "D" at $3,455.10m^2$. This study analyzed how all facade areas of the green-able walls impacted the biotope area ratio at the site. First, the biotope area ratio regarding all the zones in Jung-gu District was defined as the gross biotope area ratio while the biotope area ratio regarding all of the artificial zones was defined as the net biotope area ratio. In the case of the gross biotope area ratio, 17.97% is current ration with a projected increase to 0.10% after wall-planting. In the case of the net biotope area ratio, 4.73% is the current ration with a projected increase to 0.11% after wall-planting. This 0.11% is about 2.28% of 4.73%. This study looks at all wall-plantings that have been constructed throughout a high density area to observe their impact on the improvement of ecological function therein. With consideration of the landscape value of the facade, the regional effectiveness of wall-planting is expected to increase even more.

  • This paper uses in-situ thermal response tests to present the characteristics of the ground thermal conductivities of three different SCW GHX. These SCW GHXs were installed in the same site in Seojong City. The three different cases are distinguished by the flow direction and the presence of a filler. The first type (A) is constructed for water to flow downstream. The second (B) and third (C) types are designed for water to flow upstream, and a filler is additionally inserted into the third type. The results of the in-situ thermal response tests, indicate that the ground thermal conductivity for types (A), (B) and (C) are of $4.84W/m{\cdot}K$, $3.40W/m{\cdot}K$, and $11.62W/m{\cdot}K$, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study was to offer body suit sizing system for young women aged 18-24. Many anthropometric measurements and other related data form 418 subjects were analyzed by various statistical methods. As a result of cluster analysis, we categorized somatotypes into 3 types: H-type, A-type, N-type as the most common. Subjects was covered 86.5% by KS body suit sizing system and 33.2% by body suit company. So we considered to produce AAA, AA cup size and small size body suit for raising the coverage. As size distribution by cluster analysis, H-type was mainly distributed ${70{\sim}85(AAA{\sim}D)}$ and M, L's hip size. A-type was mostly was ranged ${70{\sim}85(A{\sim}C)}$ and S, M size. N-type was widely showed ${65{\sim}85(AAA{\sim}I)}$ and S, M, L's hip size. Accordingly, it is reasonable to consider size distribution and physical characteristics by these figure types when suggesting sizing system as well as design and production.

  • In many practical applications of systolic array, it is common that the problem size(n) is larger than the array size(M). In this case, the problem has to be partitioned into block to fit into the array before it is processed. This paper presents a problem partition method for dynamic programming and 2-dimensional systolic array suitable for it. Designed array has two types of array configur-ation for processing the partitioned problem. The queue is designed for storing and recirculating the intermediate results in the correct location and time. The number of processing elements and queues required are M(3M+1)/2, 4M respectively. The total processing time is 2(M+1)+(n+10M+3)(n/M-1)(n/M-1)/6.

  • Natural frequencies are studied for dynamic analysis of plate girder bridges which are made up about 34% in the existing railway bridges in Korea. In this study, standard plate girder bridges designed by L-22, a standard load type of the railway specification in Korea, are modeled for finite element method analysis. SAP2000n, a commercial finite element method analysis tool, is used for structural analyses and evaluations. Span lengths of Plate girders have 7 types : 6m, 9m, 12m, 15m, 22m, 24m, and 30m. Natural frequencies are considered in mass rations and span lengths and they are compared with a recommendation of UIC 776-1R for alterations, from now on, in train conditions of operation. For changes of natural frequencies in plate girders by damages of structures, Parameter studies are accomplished.

  • This paper described partial discharge(PD) patterns depending on types of insulation defects in CNCO-W cable(Concentric Neutral Closs-linked Polyethylene Insulated Polyolefin-Water Proof Sheathed Power Cable). The PD measurement system consists of a coupling network, a detection impedance, and a low noise amplifier. A 16 bit, 250 MS/s data acquisition system was used to analyze PD patterns. To simulate insulation defects in a power cable, a needle with the curvature radius of $10{\mu}m$ was inserted into the insulation part. We measured phase ($\Phi$), magnitude (q), and counts (n) of PD pulse for the defects, and classified PD patterns using the PRPD (phase Resolved Partial Discharge) method. From the analysis of acquired PD signals, we could find that a unique PD pattern is formed according to the types of defect.

  • This study empirically examines the impact of SSM market entry on changes in market shares among retailing types. The data is monthly time-series data spanning over the period from January 2000 to December 2010, and the effect of SSM market entry on market shares of retailing types is analyzed by utilizing several key factors such as the number of new SSM monthly entrants, total number of SSMs, the proportion of new SSM entrant that is smaller than $165m^2$ to total new SSM entrants. According to the Korean Standard Industrial Classification codes, the retailing type is classified into 5 groups: department stores, retail sale in other non-specialized large stores(big marts), supermarkets, convenience stores, and retail sale in other non-specialized stores with food or beverages predominating (others). The market shares of retailing types are calculated by the ratio of each retailing type monthly sales to total monthly retailing sales in which total retailing sales is the sum of each retailing type sales. The empirical model controls for the size effects with the number of monthly employees for each retailing type and the macroeconomic effects with M2. The empirical model employed in this study is as follows; $$MS_i=f(NewSSM,\;CumSSM,\;employ_i,\;under165,\;M2)$$ where $MS_i$ is the market share of each retailing type (department stores, big marts), supermarkets, convenience stores, and others), NewSSM is the number of new SSM monthly entrants, CumSSM is total number of SSMs, $employ_i$ is the number of monthly employees for each retailing type, and under165 is the proportion of new SSM entrant that is smaller than $165m^2$ to total new SSM entrants. The correlation among these variables are reported in

    .
shows the descriptive statistics of the sample. Sales is the total monthly revenue of each retailing type, employees is total number of monthly employees for each retailing type, area is total floor space of each retail type($m^2$), number of store is total number of monthly stores for each retailing type, market share is the ratio of each retailing type monthly sales to total monthly retailing sales in which total retailing sales is the sum of each retailing type sales, new monthly SSMs is total number of new monthly SSM entrants, and M2 is a money supply. The empirical results of the effect of new SSM market entry on changes in market shares among retailing types (department stores, retail sale in other non-specialized large stores, supermarkets, convenience stores, and retail sale in other non-specialized stores with food or beverages predominating) are reported in
. The dependant variables are the market share of department stores, the market share of big marts, the market share of supermarkets, the market share of convenience stores, and the market share of others. The result shows that the impact of new SSM market entry on changes in market share of retail sale in other non-specialized large stores (big marts) is statistically significant. Total number of monthly SSM stores has a significant effect on market share, but the magnitude and sign of effect is different among retailing types. The increase in the number of SSM stores has a negative effect on the market share of retail sale in other non-specialized large stores(big marts) and convenience stores, but has a positive impact on the market share of department stores, supermarkets, and retail sale in other non-specialized stores with food or beverages predominating (others). This study offers the theoretical and practical implication to these findings and also suggests the direction for the further analysis.

    • This study has analyzed the backwater effect by the bridge pier on the basis of the result on hydraulic characteristics with pier shapes in study(I), using a two-dimensional model(RMA-2) and an one-dimensional model(HEC-RAS). The pier shapes are classified into total six types such as square, rhombus, octagon, oval, round, and no-piers. The result of the backwater effect analysis showed that the backwater length is about 150 and 50m from HEC-RAS and RMA-2, respectively for all pier types. Although it is difficult to directly compare between results from the two models, the oval shape pier has shown similar results to the no-pier situation before the bridge construction in hydraulic characteristics. This analysis can help to select pier types in the new bridge construction for the future.
