Orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) modulation is considered as one of the solutions to cope with high mobility channel environments. It converts the time-varying channel to the near-constant channel response in the delay-Doppler domain. This modulation scheme also benefits from the diversity in two-dimensional modulation. According to recent researches, this method outperforms the conventional OFDM modulation, especially in high-speed channel conditions. In this paper, to investigate the performance of OTFS in a practical system, channel estimation in the delay-Doppler domain is compared with the conventional method in the time-frequency domain at different mobile speeds. Simulation results confirm that the delay-Doppler domain channel estimation brings a better performance compared to the conventional one under the same overhead rate.

In holographic data storage (HDS), a high transmission rate is accomplished through the use of a charge coupled device array for reading two-dimensional (2D) pixel image data. Although HDS has many advantages in terms of storage capacity and data transmission rates, it also features problems, such as 2D intersymbol interference (ISI) by neighboring pixels and interpage interference (IPI) by multiple images stored in the same holographic volume. Modulation codes can be used to remove these problems. We introduce a 2D 8/9 error-correcting modulation code. The proposed modulation code exploits the trellis-coded modulation scheme, and the code rate is larger (about 0.889) than that of the conventional 6/8 balanced modulation code (an increase of approximately 13.9%). The performance of the bit error rate (BER) with the proposed scheme was improved compared with that of the 6/8 balanced modulation code and the simple 8/9 code without the trellis scheme.

Automatic modulation recognition is the core algorithm in the field of modulation classification in communication systems. Our investigations show that deep learning (DL) based modulation recognition techniques have achieved effective progress for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. However, network complexity is always an additional burden for high-accuracy classifications, which makes it impractical. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a low-complexity dimensional interactive lightweight network (DilNet) for MIMO systems. Specifically, the signals received by different antennas are cooperatively input into the network, and the network calculation amount is reduced through the depth-wise separable convolution. A two-dimensional interactive attention (TDIA) module is designed to extract interactive information of different dimensions, and improve the effectiveness of the cooperation features. In addition, the TDIA module ensures low complexity through compressing the convolution dimension, and the computational burden after inserting TDIA is also acceptable. Finally, the network is trained with a penalized statistical entropy loss function. Simulation results show that compared to existing modulation recognition methods, the proposed DilNet dramatically reduces the model complexity. The dimensional interactive lightweight network trained by penalized statistical entropy also performs better for recognition accuracy in MIMO systems.

In this paper, a two-dimensional (2D) modulation code is introduced. The proposed code does not have any isolated pixel that is the most unwanted problem for holographic data storage. The proposed 2D modulation code is simpler than conventional 6/8 code and removes all the isolated 2D ISI patterns. As a result, when the grade of blur is 1.4, the proposed modulation code has better performance overall than conventional 6/8 modulation code. The proposed code has the optimal performance when 4bit quantization is applied.

We introduce an error correcting 4/6 modulation codes for holographic data storage, and simulate under adding mis-alignment noise. The holographic data storage has two-dimensional intersymbol interference. To increase the channel performance, it is necessary to use modulation code. Furthermore, if the modulation code has trellis structure, error correcting capability is added. The error correcting 4/6 modulation code shows better performance than conventional modulation codes with and without mis-alignment noise.

Holographic data storage (HDS) has a number of advantages, including a high transmission rate through the use of a charge coupled device array for reading two-dimensional (2D) pixel image data, and a high density capacity. HDS also has disadvantages, including 2d intersymbol interference by neighboring pixels and interpage interference by multiple pages stored in the same holographic volume. These problems can be eliminated by modulation codes. We propose a 7/9 error-correcting modulation code that exploits a Viterbi-trellis algorithm and has a code rate larger (about 0.778) than that of the conventional 6/8 balanced modulation code. We show improved performance of the bit error rate with the proposed scheme compared to that of the simple 7/9 code without the trellis scheme and the 6/8 balanced modulation code.

In this paper, we introduce a two-dimensional modulation code for holographic data storage systems(HDSS), which is a candidate for the next generation data storage system. The two-dimensional(2D) intersymbol interference(ISI) induces higher bit error rate(BER). The balanced number of zeros(dark) and ones(light) in each page reduces inter-page interference(IPI). The code rate is 519. Although the proposed code has higher code rate than other 2D code with rate 4/9, the BER performances of two codes are similar.
In this paper, we investigate the control methodology of inverter Airconditioner, using the three dimensional vector scheme. The method of three dimensional vector aims at the determination of optimal switching patterns for PWM to reduce switching loss and to improve the performance supplied voltage. The induction motors are widely used for home Airconditioners. These motors can be classified into two types: on or off control of Airconditioner and the speed control of motor. For speed control of motors, generally PWM methods are used. The PWM method based upon the modulation of triangular wave can not afford to supply line voltage to the motor sufficiently because of the capacity of processing speed of micro processors. Therefore airconditioner can not be operated efficiently. This problem can be solved with the method of three dimensional vector since it can increase the supplied voltage and maximum operating frequency of motor to 173V and 96Hz, respectively. As the result, this method shows 10 - 15% increase of voltage and 10% increase of operating frequency over the modulation of triangular wave. According to a theoretical study, the number of switching in the method of three dimensional vector is smaller than that of the modulation of triangular wave. The power consumption can be reduced and the supplied voltage can be increased. In other words, the efficiency of Airconditioner can be improved. We show that the method of three dimensional vector can supply higher voltage than the modulation of triangular method through the experiments and verify the degree of improvement of efficiency theoretically.

Holographic data storage system is affected by two dimensional intersymbol interference and inter-page interference. Especially, for multi-level holographic data storage system, since one pixel contains more than 1 bit, the system is more vulnerable to the error. In this paper, we propose a 2/3 modulation code for 4-level holographic data storage system. The proposed modulation code with error correcting capability could be compensated these interferences. Also, in this paper, we proposed a Viterbi decoder for 2/3 modulation code. The proposed Viterbi decoder eliminates unnecessary calculation. As a result, proposed 2/3 modulation code and Viterbi decoder has shown better performance than conventional one.
This paper presents a phase-only modulation scheme for a three-dimensional (3-D) image matching system to improve optical efficiency of the system. The 3-D image matching system is based on the two mask heterodyne scanning. A hologram of the 3-D reference object is first created and then the phase of the hologram is extracted. The phase of the hologram is represented as one mask with the other mask being a plane wave. The superposition of each beam modulated by the two masks generated a scanning beam pattern. This beam pattern scans the 3-D target object to be recognized. The output of the scanning system gives out the correlation of the phase-only hologram of the reference object and the complex hologram of the target object. Since a hologram contains 3-D information of an object as a form of fringe pattern, the correlation of holograms matches whole 3-D aspect of the objects. Computer simulations are performed with additive gaussian noise and without noise for the complex hologram modulation scheme and the phase-only hologram modulation scheme. The computer simulation results show that the phase-only hologram modulation scheme improves the optical efficiency. Thus the system with the phase-only hologram modulation scheme is more robust than the system with the complex hologram modulation scheme.
