Since the COVID-19 vaccine became available, people have been sharing their opinions on social media about getting vaccinated, causing discussions of the vaccine to trend on Twitter alongside certain events, making the website a rich data source. This paper explores people's perceptions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine during certain events and how these events influenced public opinion about the vaccine. The data consisted of tweets sent during seven important events that were gathered within 14 days of the first announcement of each event. These data represent people's reactions to these events without including irrelevant tweets. The study targeted tweets sent in Arabic from users located in Saudi Arabia. The data were classified as positive, negative, or neutral in tone. Four classifiers were used-support vector machine (SVM), naïve Bayes (NB), logistic regression (LOGR), and random forest (RF)-in addition to a deep learning model using BiLSTM. The results showed that the SVM achieved the highest accuracy, at 91%. Overall perceptions about the COVID-19 vaccine were 54% negative, 36% neutral, and 10% positive.

With the Covid-19(Corona Virus) spread all around the world, people are using this propaganda and the desperate need of the citizens to know the news about this mysterious virus by spreading fake news. Some Countries arrested people who spread fake news about this, and others made them pay a fine. And since Social Media has become a significant source of news, .there is a profound need to detect these fake news. The main aim of this research is to develop a web-based model using a combination of machine learning algorithms to detect fake news. The proposed model includes an advanced framework to identify tweets with fake news using Context Analysis; We assumed that Natural Language Processing(NLP) wouldn't be enough alone to make context analysis as Tweets are usually short and do not follow even the most straightforward syntactic rules, so we used Tweets Features as several retweets, several likes and tweet-length we also added statistical credibility analysis for Twitter users. The proposed algorithms are tested on four different benchmark datasets. And Finally, to get the best accuracy, we combined two of the best algorithms used SVM ( which is widely accepted as baseline classifier, especially with binary classification problems ) and Naive Base.
Using the network analysis method, this study investigates the communication structure of Open Data on the Twitter sphere. It addresses the communication path by mapping influential activities and comparing the contents of tweets about Open Data. In the years 2015 and 2016, the NodeXL software was applied to collect tweets from the Twitter network, containing the term "opendata". The structural patterns of social media communication were analyzed through several network characteristics. The results indicate that the most common activities on the Twitter network are related to the subjects such as new applications and new technologies in Open Data. The study is the first to focus on the structural and informational pattern of Open Data based on social network analysis and content analysis. It will help researchers, activists, and policy-makers to come up with a major realization of the pattern of Open Data through Twitter.
This paper examines communication patterns of key Twitter users by considering the socially and politically controversial Sejong City issue in South Korea. The network and message data were drawn from twtkr.com. Social network-based indicators and visualization methods were used to analyze political discourse among key Twitter users over time and illustrate various types of Tweets by these users and the interconnection between these key users. In addition, the study examines general Twitter users' participation in the discussion on the issue. The results indicate that some Twitter profiles of media outlets tend to be very dominant in terms of their message output, whereas their Tweets are not likely to be circulated by other users. Noteworthy is that Twitter profiles of individuals who are geographically affiliated with the issue are likely to play an important role in the flow of communication.
This study examines A-list users in the Twitter network of National Assembly members in South Korea. An examination of some socio-geographic characteristics of these A-list users indicates that the distribution of these users in terms of their geographic location and social status can be understood in the context of the Korean social structure. In addition, an examination of Tweets posted by these users shows that half of these users had negative attitudes toward the current administration and that some Tweets contained emotional terms.
This study aims to investigate the effect of message content and source user identity on information diffusion in Twitter networks. For the empirical study, we collected 11,346 tweets pertaining to the three major mobile telecom carriers in Korea for three months, from September to December 2011. These tweets generated 59,111 retweets (RTs) and were retweeted at least once. Our analysis indicates that information diffusion in Twitter in terms of RT volume is affected primarily by the type of message content, such as the inclusion of corporate social responsibility activities. However, the effect of message content on information diffusion is heterogeneous to the identity of the information source. We argue that user identity affects recipients' perception of the credibility of focal information. Our study offers insights into the information diffusion mechanism in online social networks and provides managerial implications on the strategic utilization of online social networks for marketing communications with customers.
A hotspot is a spatial pattern that properties or events of spaces are densely revealed in a particular area. Whereas location information is easily captured with increasing use of mobile devices, so is not our emotion unless asking directly through a survey. Tweet provides a good way of analyzing such spatial sentiment, but relevant research is hard to find. Therefore, we analyzed hotspots of emotion in the twitter using spatial autocorrelation. 10,142 tweets and related GPS data were extracted. Sentiment of tweets was classified into good or bad with a support vector machine algorithm. We used Moran's I and Getis-Ord $G_i^*$ for global and local spatial autocorrelation. Some hotspots were found significant and drawn on Seoul metropolitan area map. These results were found very similar to an earlier conducted official survey of happiness index.
Twitter is a microblogging service that allows users to post short messages on a variety of topics in real-time. In this work, we analyze Twitter messages posted during the 2012 elections and find those implications. This study uses Twitter messages related to the 2012 South Korean presidential campaign. The three main candidates are represented by the abbreviations A, M, and P. According to the statistical analysis, the number of tweets and re-tweets for candidate P was relatively stable over the entire campaign period. Candidate P had the highest percentage of terms related to elections pledges, and candidates A and M were judged to be a little bit poorer with respect to campaign promises. The positive terms ratio for candidate P was higher than those for the other two candidates. The negative terms ratio in the Twitter messages of P was considerably smaller than those of candidates A and M. After considering all these results, it is suggested cautiously that Twitter messages posted during an election campaign could be correlated with the outcome of the election.
This study argues that scholars lack an adequate conceptualization of the strategic use of social media framing by Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFAs) during crises. As a theoretical starting point, this article employs the concept of soft disempowerment to suggest that MFAs may use online framing to limit an adversary's range of possible actions during a crisis by depicting that adversary as violating norms and values deemed desirable by the international community. Next, the article introduces the concept of mutually assured delegitimization (MAD), which suggests that actors may call into question one another's adherence with certain norms and values during crises, which results in the mutual depletion of soft power resources. Importantly, this article proposes a novel, methodological approach for the analysis of individual tweets during crises. To illustrate its methodological and conceptual innovations, the study analyzes tweets published by the MFAs of the United States (US) and Russia during the Crimea crisis and demonstrates that both MFAs used Twitter to negatively frame each other by calling their morals into question, which resulted in MAD.
