This study was conducted to find the faunal composition and distribution patterns of macrobenthos where the sand tidal flat around barrier island at Nakdong River estuary in May, 2016 and 2017. The number of species ranged from 31 to 39, and density was from 789 to 1,644 ind.m-2 during the study period in the three tidal flats. The number of species and density were the highest in the tidal flat of Shinja-do and Jinwoo-do, respectively. The dominant species were Gammaridae unid. in amphipods of crustacea, Scoletoma heteropoda, Scoloplos armiger, Heteromastus filiformis, Prionospio japonica in polychaeta and Batillaria cumingii, Laternula marilina in mollusks from the three tidal flats. The proportion of carnivores such as crustacea and mollusks was higher in the upper part of the tidal flat, and polychaetes of deposit feeders, dominated in the middle and lower tidal flat. Overall, the intertidal macrobenthic communities in the study area showed a high proportion of carnivores. However, the sites where the mud content is high such as muddy sand sites, they showed a higher proportion of surface deposit feeders belonging to tube-builders which contribute to sediment stability. From this study, it seemed that the macrobenthic fauna of the sandy tidal flat at the Nakdong River estuary showed a similar fauna composition and zonal distribution patterns from those in other sandy tidal flats in Korea.

This study was described the microscopic anatomy of male reproductive organs and spermatophore necessary for understanding the reproductive ecology of the long arm octopus Octopus minor. The long arm octopus was a species that has sexual dimorphism that can distinguish between sex based on the presence of hectocotylus. Male reproductive organs consisted of testis, primary spermatic duct, spermatic gland, secondary spermatic duct, spermatophoric gland and spermatophoric sac. Histologically, the testis was testicular tubule type and male germ cells showed a layered arrangement. The primary spermatic duct was a tube connecting the testis and spermatic gland, and consisted with epithelial layer and connective tissue. The spermatic gland was located between the primary and secondary spermatic duct, and the epithelial layer was composed of epithelial cells and mucous cells. Mucous cells reacted blue in the AB-PAS (pH 2.5) reaction and purple in the AF-AB (pH 2.5) reaction. The secondary spermatic duct was a short tube connecting spermatic gland and spermatophoric gland, and folds were developed in lumen. The spermatophoric gland consisted of numerous tubular glands and secretory cells had eosinophilic granules. The spermatophoric sac was shape of pouch, folds were developed in lumen, and vacuolar secretory cells were present in the epithelial layer. The spermatophore was 83.5 mm long and consisted of cap thread in anterior portion, ejaculatory apparatus and cement body in medial portion, sperm mass in posterior portion.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of external biologger attachment methods on the blood parameters and attachment efficiency of spotted sea bass Lateolabrax maculatus (mean body weight 2630.8 g). The fish were tagged using four different external attachment methods with dummy biologgers: no attachment (control), anchor attachment (AA), monofilament attachment (MA), and silicon tube attachment (SA), each with triplicates. Blood indices and biologger attachment efficiency were assessed on days 1, 7, 14, 28, 56, and 84 after attachment. The concentrations of hematocrit, Na+, Cl-, glutamic pyruvic transaminase and total protein, and the activity of superoxide dismutase in blood were not affected by the external attachment method of biologger. The concentrations of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (day 1 of attachment), hemoglobin (day 56) and total cholesterol (day 56 and 84) in AA group, the concentrations of glucose and cortisol (day 14) and total cholesterol (day 84) in MA group showed significantly higher than those of control (p<0.05). During the experiment period, the SA group had no differences from the control in all blood properties. The biologger attachment efficiencies of the AA, MA, and SA groups after 84 days were 0.0%, 33.3%, and 100.0%, respectively. These results indicate that the optimum external biologger attachment method under our experimental conditions is SA type.
Policemen judge the situations rationally and use their equipment such as handcuffs and rope within the purview, finding them needed to arrest criminals in the act who commit crimes which conforms to death penalty, life imprisonment or long imprisonment for over 3 years in accordance with Clause 10-2, Article 1 of the Police Mandate Law and prevent fleeing from them, defend their and others' lives and bodies, or if there are probable causes to be recognized that using equipment is necessary to restrain the interference with government officials in the execution of their duties. However, as the cases which the criminals run away in handcuffs or with both hands tied occur, it results in the waste of police force, distrust and enormous trouble in the pursuit of their duties. Therefore, if the way to perceive fleeing of criminals who have already worn the police equipment by some simple assistive devices without developing other new equipment, it will be very effective for police duties. This study is about the combination apparatus for fugitive prevention attached to the existing handcuffs and rope whose alert sounds let the staffs working inside the office perceive the fleeing of wanted criminals and examined suspects who wear the handcuffs or are tied up with rope, providing that they go through the exit where a transmitter and a receiver were set. The combination apparatus for fugitive prevention which the study introduces contains the connecting parts which connect a flexible tube(cognition tags inside of the tube) of connector equipped with the police equipment with the ends of the tube and the part where these two meet and which connect them inside of the tube. The connecting parts are easy to be attached to the police equipment such as handcuffs and rope, but hard to be dismantled by the people tied up with the equipment. It enables watchers to perceive the fleeing of wanted criminals and examined suspects who wear the handcuffs or are tied up with rope, providing that they go through the exit where a transmitter and a receiver were set. Plus, if it is combined together with the portable receiver, it can be installed on the patrol cars and easily adopted to supervise illegally accessing of evidences. It is also avaliable to be adjunctively utilized for the handcuffs provided and the cost is so reasonable. Owing to its snap-on way to the cuffs, it can clear up any invasion of privacy and it can not be used as a self-injury tool because of the soft tube. Using AM Tag minimizes the lack of malfunction.
Purpose: The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the conical solar concentrator (CSC) system, whose design is focused on increasing its collecting efficiency by determining the optimal conical angle through a theoretical study. Methods: The design and thermal performance analysis of a solar concentrator system based on a $45^{\circ}$ conical concentrator were conducted utilizing different mass flow rates. For an accurate comparison of these flow rates, three equivalent systems were tested under the same operating conditions, such as the incident direct solar radiation, and ambient and inlet temperatures. In order to minimize heat loss, the optimal double tube absorber length was selected by considering the law of reflection. A series of experiments utilizing water as operating fluid and two-axis solar tracking systems were performed under a clear or cloudless sky. Results: The analysis results of the CSC system according to varying mass flow rates showed that the collecting efficiency tended to increase as the flow rate increased. However, the collecting efficiency decreased as the flow rate increased beyond the optimal value. In order to optimize the collecting efficiency, the conical angle, which is a design factor of CSC, was selected to be $45^{\circ}$ because its use theoretically yielded a low heat loss. The collecting efficiency was observed to be lowest at 0.03 kg/s and highest at 0.06 kg/s. All efficiencies were reduced over time because of variations in ambient and inlet temperatures throughout the day. The maximum efficiency calculated at an optimum flow rate of 0.06 kg/s was 85%, which is higher than those of the other flow rates. Conclusions: It was reasonable to set the conical angle and mass flow rate to achieve the maximum CSC system efficiency in this study at $45^{\circ}$ and 0.06 kg/s, respectively.
The winter-resident Korean bats, Murina leucogaster ognevi, show a circadian cycle of thermoregulation and locomotion in summer, as do other bat species in temperate regions. They are most active between dusk and dawn with body temperature (Tb) of 35-4OC, and are usually torpid in their roost sites for the rest of day with their Tb close to ambient temperature (Ta) of around 15C. The present study was conducted to determine thermogenic and thermolabile properties of the heterothermic bats that would influence their daily feeding activities and ultimately, their energy conservation strategy. Testing on active male Murina, resting metabolic rate (RMR, gauged by oxygen consumption rate) at the lower limit of thermoneutral zone (31C) was 2.0 L kq-1 h-1. The regression slope of RMR below the thermoneutral zone (an index of metabolic thermal sensitivity) was -0.38 L $kg^{-l} h^{-1} C^{-1}$. The metabolic rate at the roost Ta (15C) was 4.5 times the lowest RMR in the active state but becomes nearly zero in the torpid state. This implies that by being torpid during daytime (between dawn and dusk), the individual bats would save about 4.7 kcal each day in mid-summer. Interspecific comparisons of thermal metabolic response over a mass scale suggest that the smaller bats show a relatively higher metabolic rate in thermoneutral zone and a greater thermal sensitivity of metabolism, which follows the general principle seen in homeothermic metabolism. Thermolabile features in metabolic responses seem to be fairly common for these bats in conditions other than a fully active state. Types of thermolabile responses and their energetic significance are discussed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate that to see how their traditional characteristics were reflected and expressed in Hanoi vietnamese contemporary public restaurants. For this, We visited Hanoi twice to have onsite research in August 2012 and 2013. According to the results of surveying Vietnamese public restaurants, all of the 12 cases had humane characteristics reflecting Vietnam traditional culture, showing Vietnamese unique traditional characteristics including intangible elements such as natural environment, life culture elements such as food culture, and formative aesthetic elements using indigenous ornaments. Different from luxury restaurants that had trade names on the theme of historical stories related to people or places and expressed various concepts formatively using photographs of Vietnamese politics and history and ornamental elements such as tableware, however, the public restaurants were simple in theme or concept. It is probably because most of the surveyed cases were situated in the old quarter to the north of the Hoan Kiem Lake and in the area to the west of the lake and their target customers were local people, so they reflected the Vietnamese traditional residence style and common people's life rather than designing the restaurants intentionally with specific concepts. As to the spatial expression characteristics of the surveyed cases, casual restaurants in Hanoi expressed only basic structure using basic construction materials and techniques with outdoor spaces in the form of Vietnam traditional tube house, and therefore, the overall atmosphere was contemporary. In indoor spaces as well, the general level was low, using uncharacteristic common design and color and cheap finishing materials and furniture. 83% of all cases showed the pattern of VM-VM-VT, being mainly contemporary by partially adopting Vietnamese unique ornamental elements for their outdoor and indoor spaces and using traditional elements supplementarily.
The purpose of this study was to investigate dietary taurine intakes, plasma taurine levels and urinary taurine excretions of women in Seoul(Kangbuk-ku) and Kyunggi(Yeoju) area, Korea. Seventy married women aged 39.7$\pm$8.9 have volunteered for this study: 36 from Seoul area and 34 from Kyunggi area. Diet samples were collected from the participants and the samples included three meals (breakfast, lunch and supper), snacks, drinks and whatever the participants had eaten for 24 hours. The plasma was obtained by allowing a 5 $m\ell$ fasting blood sample to be in a heparinized tube for 30 min and centrifuging it at 11,000${\times}$g for 20 min. The collected diets were blended, centrifuged and deproteinized. Taurine levels in the diet and plasma were determined as the dabsyl derivative using HPLC with Rf-detector. The intake of taurine ranged from 6.8 to 837.8 mg/day and its mean value was l45.5$\pm$164.0 mg/day (mean$\pm$SD). The 90th, 50th and 10th percentile values of the taurine intake were 280.0, 94.3 and 26.8 mg/day, respectively. There was a significant difference between two groups: 202.0$\pm$204.9 for Seoul area and 85.5$\pm$67.2 mg/day for Kyunggi area(p<0.00l). The taurine level in plasma ranged from 42.1 to 201.9 $\mu$mol/L and its mean value was 74.9$\pm$22.8 $\mu$mol/L. The 90th, 50th and 10th percentile values of the plasma taurine were 101.1, 70.7 and 54.6 $\mu$mol/L, respectively. There was no significant difference between Seoul area and Kyunggi area in plasma taurine level.
Three hundred and twenty-seven patients of 2,046 inguinal hernia cases Primarily repaired at Hanyang University Hospital had the history of incarceration or presented as incarcerated inguinal hernia on admission. Incidence of incarceration of all male hernias was 14.2%(234 patients) and 22.7%(93 patients) of all female cases. Incarceration occurred in 17.3% of all right hernia cases and in 13.7% of all left hernia cases. The incarceration occurred 52.6% of the hernia patients in the first month of life, 27.3% in the first year, 26.7% in the second year and 7.8% after 2 years of age. Strangulated inguinal hernia occurred in 8 patients: five patients had ovaries involved, two patients intestines, and one patient omentum. Emergency operations were performed on 66 patients(20.2%) because incarcerated hernia could not be reduced by taxis. At the time of operation, the hernia sacs were empty in 140 of 327 patients and the remainders contained omentum(50), small intestine (44), appendix and/or cecum(28), sigmoid colon(2), ovary and/or tube(66), and omental cyst(1). An elective hernia repair should be performed promptly after presentation of the hernia, especially before 2 years of life because of high incidence of incarceration. In this study, of 327 incarcerated hernia, 187 patients(57.2%) did not have prior history of incarceration and incarceration developed more than 7 days after hernia onset in 95.6%. If the hernia repairs had been performed within 7 days after hernia onset, about half of the incarceration might have been prevented.
This study was carried out to develop a vinegar by an onion juice. Onions are considered to be a promising source of the vinegar because these are rich in sugars, amino acids and various nutrients. An Acetobacter for an acetic acid fermentation was isolated and used from vinegars produced by industrial goods or from matured Kimchi. When supplemented with 2-8% ethanol into an onionic juice medium, the highest production of the acetic acid was observed at 9 days by addition of 4% ethanol. Optimum temperature and aeration for acetic acid production were exhibited at $30^{\circ}C$ and 200 rpm, respectively. A flask containing larger air-contact surface region for fermentation was produced the more acetic acid than that of a test tube. Taken all these together, an optimum condition for the acetic acid fermentation was over 9 days at $30^{\circ}C$, 200 rpm with 5% alcohol and 2% initial acidity. When fermented by the upper condition, the final product contains 5.2% total acidity and less than 1% ethanol. These are suitable for conditions of fruit vinegar notified by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.
