  • The purpose of this study is to develop the process to support and evaluate experts' decision making on vertical transportation planning in high-rise building constructions. Experts generally carry out the vertical transportation planning by heuristic methods, so there is a possibility that their decisions failed. The failure of the vertical transportation planning can be result in much loss of time and cost. The process presented in this paper evaluates experts' alternatives, organizes the results of the vertical transportation plan, and then leads to the systematic flow of materials and crews.

  • This study shows how Incheon will advance into roadmap as multi-transport hub in Northeast Asia hereafter and be proposed an urgent tasks and roles to construct a multi-transportation system for Incheon, which has both an international airport and port. The multi-transportation point of view of inter-major cities competitiveness of total scores was proposed 1. Shanghai(64.8 points), 2 in Hongkong(64.5), 3 in Incheon(62.9), and 4 in Busan(60.4) and Incheon was estimated to have enough competitiveness to be the international multi-transport hub in Northeast Asia. Sea & Air transportation revealed the most important multi-transportation in the Incheon region. In conclusion, this research suggests a development plan for multi-transportation in Incheon. Firstly, it proposes construction of sea & air transportation distribution center and agreement that simplifies logistic process between Incheon and Tianjin, secondly, suggests to activate project for the purpose of creating a better sea-land transportation system between Incheon and Shanghai.

  • The transportation of a truss-spar hull from a transport barge of 6000 ton topside module on the spar hull is investigated in the present study. Two possible routes from a fabrication yard in Teeside, England to the Gulf of Mexico are considered in the paper. The results of motion responses of the transport barge obtained from a spectral analysis and the limiting criteria of sea fastening, deck wetness and lateral acceleration are compared and the route selection is discussed. Long-crested waves and short-crested seas as well as the joint probabilities of significant wave heights and wave periods in different sea areas are considered. Generally speaking, the results for long-crested seas are higher than those for short-crested waves.

  • The luffing-tower crane (T/C) is a key facility used in the vertical and horizontal transportation of materials in a tall building construction. Locating the crane in an optimal position is an essential task in the initial stages of construction planning. This paper proposes a new optimization model to locate the luffing T/C in the optimal position to minimize the transportation time. A newly developed mathematical formula is suggested to calculate the transportation time of luffing T/C correctly. An optimization algorithm, the Harmony Search (HS) algorithm, was used and the results show that HS has high performance characteristics to solve the optimization problem in a short period of time. In a case study, the proposed model offered a better position for T/C than the previous heuristic approach.

  • Recent Construction and Transportation R&D projects are larger in size, investment scale has been increasing rapidly. However, the results of Construction and Transportation in R & D are papers, patents and other results. So, the application record of R&D in the construction field is very lacking. In particular, Construction New Technology's ratio in the midst of R&D's results are about 2.29%. Therefore, this study suggested program that R&D's results has been connected Construction New Technology. The introduction of the new system has greatly increased Construction New Technology and the results of excellent &D will be applied in construction field. So, Cost-reduction and technology's improvement are expected.

  • In the United States, the completion of Construction Work Zone (CWZ) impact assessments for all federally-funded highway infrastructure improvement projects is mandated, yet it is regarded as a daunting task for state transportation agencies, due to a lack of standardized analytical methods for developing sounder Transportation Management Plans (TMPs). To circumvent these issues, this study aims to create a spatiotemporal modeling framework, dubbed "SWAT" (Spatiotemporal Work zone Assessment for TMPs). This study drew a total of 43,795 traffic sensor reading data collected from heavily trafficked highways in U.S. metropolitan areas. A multilevel-cluster-driven analysis characterized traffic patterns, while being verified using a measurement system analysis. An artificial neural networks model was created to predict potential 24/7 traffic demand automatically, and its predictive power was statistically validated. It is proposed that the predicted traffic patterns will be then incorporated into a what-if scenario analysis that evaluates the impact of numerous alternative construction plans. This study will yield a breakthrough in automating CWZ impact assessments with the first view of a systematic estimation method.

  • The purpose of this study was to set and analyze the standard model for prioritizing and deciding to take part in housing environment improvement project in the perspective of the public sector. The results of this study were as follows. The location competitiveness, potential demand, marketability and competitive price, etc were selected by assessment indicators. And Various indicators, including of the size of the area, public transportation, accessibility, convenience of living and the influx of the population, were used by weights indexes. The profit of local residents and the public promoter, variability of earnings, sensitivity analysis and the ratio of money in reserve, etc were also established as detailed indexes for the profitability and business risk analysis. To analyze the cash flow of the project process and review the necessary capital in advance, the payback, total working expenses, gearing ratio and sensitivity of a risk, etc were also set as additional detailed indexes. Lastly, considering it is quasi-public projects, the measure to protect tenants, necessity need of redevelopment and local government's will were additionally used by indexes. And Points were distributed on the importance of each index and scored out of 100. It will allow for the public project promoter to decide rationally whether to come in on the project. The public project promoter like the Korea Land and Housing Corporation will be able to make use of various indexes are based on this study to make decision whether joining the housing environment improvement project in depressed region.

  • Since Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS) is a complex project combining technology and system of transportation, information and communication and civil engineer, it needs a specialized management activities. However, it is difficult to judge who has responsibility for a shoddy and fault construction since the role between project management and supervision is very ambiguous. The aim of this study is propose an efficient project management and supervision for ITS reflecting the characteristics of ITS. Therefore, we suggest a statistical models using nonlinear regression model to prepare the project management and supervision compensation criteria, hence, we choose the realistic and validation statistical model.
