  • The present study examines how to construct a transport system for tourism in the marine city area of Yeosu. An effective tourism transport system is needed in Yeosu to promote ocean tourism in Korea's southern coastal region. The problems in Yeosu's transport system for ocean tourism were identified by comparing it with the Bay Area in the United States; future improvement methods were deduced accordingly. The transport support system for ocean tourism in Yeosu area was insufficient in many aspects compared with the Bay Area, such as intercity transportation, urban transport systems, and transport information systems. Thus, this study suggests various approaches to building a new ocean tourism transport support system in Yeosu. Connecting transport modes and ocean tourism resources, such as linking intercity and urban transport modes with ocean tourism transport modes, is suggested. It is also recommended that a cooperative transport support system be established for ocean tourism in the neighboring regions of Yeosu. Furthermore, an integrated transport information system for ocean tourism needs to be provided to connect the system efficiently with ocean tourists. This integrated transport support system could lead to a decrease in the cost and time needed for travel.

  • This study was conducted to investigate researches related to tourism transport conducted in Korea and to discover new complementary research projects based on this. Forty cases were reflected in the study, including 28 academic papers and 12 policy studies. Based on the characteristics of tourism transport and cases of prior research, this study divided the field of tourism transport research into three ranges: traffic mode choice for tourism, information for tourist traffic and support policy for tourist traffic etc. In particular, mode choice for tourist traffic was divided into four sub-ranges, reflecting the importance of tourist traffic and the weight of research cases. As a result of the study, it was found that there were not many cases of research on tourism transport, and the research cases were concentrated on the mode choice for tourist traffic. To complement this, this study proposed 10 new research projects in 3 ranges. This is a result of reflecting changes in tourist demand and tourism trends. In addition, a new research field was proposed to seek the connection between transport facilities supply and tourist demand.

  • Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of tourists in islands that are well-known for their natural landscapes. It is expected that this number will go up steadily, due to the increase in per capita income and leisure time. Regarding tourism transportation, utilizing linkage transport between coastal passenger terminal and inland transport system is crucial. However, the existing system does not measure up to the expectations. This is attributable to the fact that the distances between coastal passenger terminals and inland transportation terminals are too far. Also, the current public transportation system lacks support and needs to take the role of connecting the two terminals. This study shows how coast-inland linkage transport system should be reformed in order to promote island tourism. It focuses on building linkage transport system and minimizing walking distance. Also, adjusting passenger ship schedule to the characteristics of island tourism is needed. For the sake of passengers, coastal passenger ship fare should be reduced, and integrated transport information should be provided.

The survey sample consists of 350 tourists who stayed overnight in Bao Loc City in the last quarter of 2019; 315 valid survey questionnaires could be used for the analysis. The research applied Cronbach's Alpha, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), structural equation modeling (SEM), and bootstrap test. The results show that the satisfaction of the tourists who have visited Bao Loc City has been affected statistically by three factors: (1) Responsiveness; (2) Reliability; and (3) Empathy, which were ranked by descending importance. Surprisingly, the research found that Tangibles and Assurance do not have an impact on tourists' satisfaction towards Bao Loc City. The research formulates some suggestions to the city policy-makers and the tourism businesses management in Bao Loc City in order to enhance tourists' satisfaction through improving the tourism service quality at Bao Loc City.

The 4 provinces and 1 municipality overall show a certain degree of accumulation effect and coordinated development in tourism due to their location, traffic and traditional economic cooperation. This study takes the Southwest China as the research object and utilized the spatial dislocation model and the tourism spatial misalignment index to estimate the mismatch degree between tourism resources and tourism income among provinces and try to find out the internal reason background. The results show that each of the five provinces has its own advantages in index of economy, tourism resources, human resource, and transportation, leading to differences in the center of gravity of the entire region in all aspects. In view of the results of spatial dislocation analysis, suggestions for improvement and optimization are put forward to promote the high-quality development of tourism in Southwest region. development.
