  • This paper investigates changing business transaction under the e-commerce environment and their implications on freight transport industry with some case studies. It shows that an efficient and reliable delivery system is essential for e-commerce as business industries are faced with the stricter and more diversified demands of customer. In addition, many aspects of business practices such as small batch, customized production and just-in-time distribution in the e-commerce environment, in turn, bring about a number of changes in the volume and service patterns of freight transport. E-commerce requires longer transport distances and often higher delivery frequencies. It also entails to a certain extent a modal shift towards truck and air freight transport modes. On the one hand, the logistical requirements of e-commerce goods may stimulate greater complexity in existing supply chain management, causing higher costs. However it is true that the increased visibility of goods through more efficient information flow allows more efficient and effective transport management in the logistics system.

  • Current Internet and Intranet developments are focusing on network multimedia services involving the transport of real-time multimedia streams. In this paper, we present a real-time MPEG2 Encoding/Decoding systems and a MPEG2 stream player running on client systems based on real-time transport protocol(RTP). The MPEG2 player has been implemented by using JMF and java applet. We have tested our prototype systems with one of possible multimedia sources, camcoder, to verify its functional correctness and measure its performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the role of NGIS(National Geographic Information System) and the development strategy for Business GIS in the ubiquitous society. We analyze the level of GIS technology with the ICT(Information Communication Technology) as well as GIS application trends especially in location-based circumstances. Also, we advocate not only making GIS contents to meet the international standards such as GML(Geography Markup Language) and TPEG(Transport Protocol Experts Group) but applying GIS as a killer application to oncoming diverse ICT areas including LBS(Location -Based Service), Telematics, ITS(Intelligent Transport System), gCRM(geographic Customer Relationship Management), DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), u(ubiquitous)-City and u-Town. Finally, we build a conceptual Business GIS model based on NGIS for QoS, standardization, R&D, education, and security.

  • The amount of compensation and the number of cases owing to car damage from pot holes on highways across the country increased by about 4.2 times and 3.5 times, respectively, in 2019 compared to 2015. Due to the increase in damage caused by these road hazards, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is developing technologies and services that can collect road hazard information by using devices on commercial vehicles (DTGs, black boxes, ADASs). In preparation for the development of these technologies, this study conducted an integrated assessment of algorithms developed for interrupted-flow and uninterrupted-flow traffic under three scenarios in order to provide road hazard information to drivers and road managers. As a result, the overall accuracy of the integrated assessment was derived at 81.88%. Errors generated in this integrated assessment reflect only missing data in less than 1 minute, GPS coordinate location and algorithm related errors, taking into account the purpose and assumptions of the assessment. Among them, we derive an accuracy of 90.15%overall by calibrating GPS error data. The results of this study can be used as basic data for improving the accuracy of location-based information collected by commercial vehicles and for policy development.

  • In wireless network environments, wireless channels are characterized by time-varying fading and interference conditions, which may lead to burst packet corruptions and delay variation. This can cause severe quality degradation of streaming media. To guarantee successful transmission of media over the hostile wireless networks, where channel conditions are highly fluctuating, a flexible and network-adaptive transport method is required. Thus, we propose a network-adaptive transport error control consisting of packet-level interleaved FEC and delay-constrained ARQ, which acts as an application-level transport method of streaming media to alleviate burst packet losses while adapting to the changing channel condition in wireless networks. The performances of the proposed network-adaptive transport error control, general error control schemes, and hybrid schemes are evaluated by a developed simulator at the transport-level and video quality of streaming media. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism provides the best overall performance among compared other schemes in terms of the transport-level performance of error control and the performance of video quality for streaming media.

  • This paper has presented doping profile dependent threshold voltage for DGMOSFET using analytical transport model based on Gaussian function. Two dimensional analytical transport model has been derived from Poisson's equation for symmetrical Double Gate MOSFETs(DGMOSFETs). Threshold voltage roll-off is very important short channel effects(SCEs) for nano structures since it determines turn on/off of MOSFETs. Threshold voltage has to be constant with decrease of channel length, but it shows roll-off due to SCEs. This analytical transport model is used to obtain the dependence of threshold voltage on channel doping profile for DGMOSFET profiles. Also we have analyzed threshold voltage for structure of channel such as channel length and gate oxide thickness.
