This paper presents the design of the Safety Programmable Logic Controller (SPLC) used in the Nuclear Power Plants, an analysis of a reliability for the SPLC using a markov model. The architecture of the SPLC is designed to have the multiple modular redundancy composed of the Dual Modular Redundancy(DMR) and the Triple Modular Redundancy(TMR). The operating system of the SPLC is designed to have the non-preemptive state based scheduler and the supervisory task managing the sequential scheduling, timing of tasks, diagnostic and security. The data communication of the SPLC is designed to have the deterministic state based protocol, and is designed to satisfy the effective transmission capacity of 20Mbps. Using Markov model, the reliability of SPLC is analyzed, and assessed. To have the reasonable reliability such as the mean time to failure (MTTF) more than 10,000 hours, the failure rate of each SPLC module should be less than $2{\times}10^{-5}$/hour. When the fault coverage factor (FCF) is increased by 0.1, the MTTF is improved by about 4 months, thus to enhance the MTTF effectively, it is needed that the diagnostic ability of each SPLC module should be strengthened. Also as the result of comparison the SPLC and the existing safety grade PLCs, the reliability and MTTF of SPLC is up to 1.6-times and up to 22,000 hours better than the existing PLCs.

In this paper, we present the design, functions and performance analysis of the virtual machine (VM) based on the Lua interpreter for On-Board Control Procedure Execution Environment (OEE). The development of the OEE has been required in order to operate the lunar explorer mission autonomously which is planned by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) autonomously. The concept of On-Board Control Procedure (OBCP) is already being applied to the deep space missions with a long propagation delay and a limited data transmission capacity since it ensure he autonomy of the mission without the ground intervention. The interpreter is the execution engine in the VM and it interpreters high-level programming codes line by line and executes the VM instructions. So the execution speed is very more slower than that of natively compiled codes. In order to overcome it, we design and implement OEE using register-based Lua interpreter for execution engine in OEE. We present experimental results on a range of additional hardware configurations such as usages of cache and floating point unit. We expect those to utilized to the OBCP scheduling policy and the system with Lua interpreter.

Multipath TCP (MPTCP) is a transport layer protocol that supports multipath transmission. If a bufferbloat occurs in one of the subflows of MPTCP, HoL blocking occurs at the receiver due to the difference in packet arrival time among paths. In MPTCP, HoL blocking degrades not only the performance of the path where bufferbloat occurs, but also the performance of other paths. In this paper, we propose a bandwidth measurement based scheduler to solve this problem. Bandwidth measurement based scheduler is designed to measure the bandwidth of each subflow and to perform packet scheduling based on it. In order to verify the proposed scheduler, we implemented the proposed scheduler in the Linux kernel and constructed a testbed in which bufferbloat occurs. Experimental results show that the proposed scheduler has better performance than the legacy MPTCP in bufferbloat environment.

Cognitive radio-simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (CR-SWIPT) has attracted much interest since it can improve both the spectrum and energy efficiency of wireless networks. This paper focuses on the resource sharing between a point-to-point primary system (PRS) and a multiuser multi-antenna cellular cognitive radio system (CRS) containing a large number of cognitive users (CUs). The resource sharing optimization problem is formulated by jointly scheduling CUs and adjusting the transmit power at the cognitive base station (CBS). The effect of accessing CUs' spatial channel correlation on the possible transmit power of the CBS is investigated. Accordingly, we provide a low-complexity suboptimal approach termed the semi-correlated semi-orthogonal user selection (SC-SOUS) algorithm to enhance the spectrum efficiency. In the proposed algorithm, CUs that are highly correlated to the information decoding primary receiver (IPR) and mutually near orthogonal are selected for simultaneous transmission to reduce the interference to the IPR and increase the sum rate of the CRS. We further develop a spatial correlation-based resource sharing (SC-RS) strategy to improve energy sharing performance. CUs nearly orthogonal to the energy harvesting primary receiver (EPR) are chosen as candidates for user selection. Therefore, the EPR can harvest more energy from the CBS so that the energy utilization of the network can improve. Besides, zero-forcing precoding and power control are adopted to eliminate interference within the CRS and meet the transmit power constraints. Simulation results and analysis show that, compared with the existing CU selection methods, the proposed low-complex strategy can enhance both the achievable sum rate of the CRS and the energy sharing capability of the network.

Participation in power trading using surplus power is considered a business model active in the domestic energy trade market, but it is limited only if the legal requirements according to the type, capacity, and use of the facilities to be applied for are satisfied. The hydrogen residential demonstration model presented in this paper includes solar power, energy storage system (ESS), fuel cell, and water electrolysis facilities in electrical facilities for private use with low-voltage power receiving system. The concept of operations strategy for this model focuses on securing the energy self-sufficiency ratio of the entire system, securing economic feasibility through the optimal operation module installed in the energy management system (EMS), and securing the stability of the internal power balancing issue during the stand-alone mode. An electric facility configuration method of a hydrogen residential complex demonstrated to achieve this operational goal has a structure in which individual energy sources are electrically connected to the main bus, and ESS is also directly connected to the main bus instead of a renewable connection type to perform charging/discharging operation for energy balancing management in the complex. If surplus power exists after scheduling, participation in power trading through reverse transmission parallel operation can be considered to solve the energy balancing problem and ensure profitability. Consequentially, this paper reviews the legal regulations on participation in electric power trading using surplus power from hydrogen residential models that can produce and consume power, gas, and thermal energy including hybrid distributed power sources, and suggests action plans.

The rapid growth and increasing complexity of modern networks have highlighted the limitations of traditional network architectures. The emergence of SDN (Software-Defined Network) in response to these challenges has changed the existing network environment. The SDN separates the control unit and the data unit, and adjusts the network operation using a centralized controller. However, this structure has also recently caused a huge amount of traffic due to the rapid spread of numerous Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which has not only slowed the transmission speed of the network but also made it difficult to ensure quality of service (QoS). Therefore, this paper proposes a method of load distribution by switching the IP and any server (processor) from the existing data processing scheduling technique, RR (Round-Robin), to mapping when a large amount of data flows in from a specific IP, that is, server overload and data loss.

The WBAN technology means a short distance wireless network which provides each device interactive communication by connecting devices inside and outside of body. Standardization on the physical layer, data link layer, network layer and application layer is in progress by IEEE 802.15.6 TG BAN. Wireless body area network is usually configured in energy efficient using sensor and zigbee device due to the power limitation and the characteristics of human body. Wireless sensor network consist of sensor field and sink node. Sensor field are composed a lot of sensor node and sink node collect sensing data. Wireless sensor network has capacity of the self constitution by protocol where placed in large area without fixed position. Mobile sink node distribute energy consumption therefore network life time was increased than fixed sink node. The energy efficient is important matter in wireless body area network because energy resource was limited on sensor node. In this paper we proposed cluster topology algorithm for efficient data transmission in wireless body area network based mobile sink. The proposed algorithm show good performance under the advantage of grid routing protocol and TDMA scheduling that minimized overlap area on cluster and reduced amount of data on cluster header in error prone wireless sensor network based on mobile sink.
Recently, the advance of multimedia hardware has fostered the development of wireless multimedia sensor network which is able to ubiquitously obtain multimedia content such as image or audio from the environment. The multimedia data which has several characteristics such as large size and correlation between the data requires reliability in transmission. However, the existing solution which take the focus on the efficiency of network mainly, is not appropriate to transmit the multimedia data. In the paper, we proposes a reliable asynchronous image transfer protocol, RAIT. RAIT applies double sliding window method in node-to-node image tansfer to prevent the packet loss caused by network congestion. The double sliding window consists of one sliding window for the receiving queue, which is used for prevention of packet loss caused by communication failure between nodes and the other sliding window for the sending queue which prevents the packet loss caused by network congestion. the routing node prevents the packet loss and guarantees the fairness between the nodes by scheduling the packets based on the image non-preemptively. The RAIT implements the double sliding window method by cross layer design between RAIT layer, routing layer, and queue layer. The experiment shows that RAIT guarantees the reliability of image transmission compared with the existing protocol.
The progress of data transmission technology through the Internet has spread a variety of realistic contents. One of such contents is multi-view video that is acquired from multiple camera sensors. In general, the multi-view video processing requires encoders and decoders as many as the number of cameras, and thus the processing complexity results in difficulties of practical implementation. To solve for this problem, this paper considers a simple multi-view system utilizing a single encoder and a single decoder. In the encoder side, input multi-view YUV sequences are combined on GOP units by a video mixer. Then, the mixed sequence is compressed by a single H.264/AVC encoder. The decoding is composed of a single decoder and a scheduler controling the decoding process. The goal of the scheduler is to assign approximately identical number of decoded frames to each view sequence by estimating the decoder utilization of a Gap and subsequently applying frame skip algorithms. Furthermore, in the frame skip, efficient frame selection algorithms are studied for H.264/AVC baseline and main profiles based upon a cost function that is related to perceived video quality. Our proposed method has been performed on various multi-view test sequences adopted by MPEG 3DAV. Experimental results show that approximately identical decoder utilization is achieved for each view sequence so that each view sequence is fairly displayed. As well, the performance of the proposed method is examined in terms of bit-rate and PSNR using a rate-distortion curve.
The scheme for recognizing the channel availability is one of the most important research issues in cognitive radio systems utilizing unused frequency bands. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme of selecting sensing channel in order to improve the sensing ability of frequency status in cognitive radio ad hoc networks. To fully exploit the sensing ability of each cognitive radio user, we adopt a master for a cluster which is made of several cognitive radio users. By gathering and analyzing the sensing information from cognitive radio users in the cluster, the cooperative sensing is realized. Since the transmission range of a licensed user is limited, it is possible that a master determines different sensing channels to each cognitive radio users based on their location. By making cognitive radio users sense different channels, the proposed scheme can recognize the state of wireless spectrum fast and precisely. Using the simulation, we compare the performance of the proposed scheme with those of two different compared schemes that one makes cognitive radio users recognize the frequency status based on their own sensing results and the other shares frequency status information but does not utilize the location information of licensed user. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides available channels as many as possible while detecting the activation of licensed user immediately.
