The Effect of Distribution Project Manager Leadership and Performance of Project Team Members with the Mediation Role of Self-Efficacy

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study to determine the effect of distribution transformational and transactional project manager leadership style on the extra-role performance of project team members using multi-level modelling analysis. Research design, data and methodology: The role of psychological factors as the mediating variable namely is self-efficacy in the effect of project manager's leadership style on the project team members' performance was also studied using the Monte Carlo bootstrapping method. The sample of the study consisting of 370 project team members from 74 contractors registered with the Construction Industry Development Board in the Klang Valley was selected using a simple random sampling and a survey using a questionnaire. Results: The findings showed that the transformational leadership of project managers was a dominant predictor of extra-role performance of project team members. Furthermore, the study show the self-efficacy of project team members acted as a mediator in the relationship between transformational and transactional leadership of project manager leadership on the extra-role performance of project team members. Conclusions: The findings are expected to be used by the relevant parties in planning, arranging and implementing efforts to improve the work performance and ensure that projects are implemented according to the specified specifications.

  • The purpose of this study is to create a program that will revitalize as an autonomous person through dialogue training that integrates reason and emotion when the personality formed as a child does not help life and growth of reality. The research method is to analyze the current personality as five ego states and find a way to correct or complement the result. Study results found a way to complement the external ego states shown in the state to self-activation techniques, The inner part is to achieve autonomy through the change of Trinity, the ultimate goal of change of Transactional Analysis(TA) namely, the change of three abilities: self-awareness, spontaneity, and intimacy. This is the ability to use all the resources of an individual to solve problems, or to make recovery look real.

  • This research studies the behavior patterns of a character in FIFA Online3, and the transaction patterns between the characters to present a character that acts like a real person and has social interaction with other characters. A character interacts with others mediated by balls in FIFA Online3, we analysis character's behavior and interactions more cleary. Providing the realistic behavior patterns of a character and the relation in the transaction patterns between the characters based on psychology theory, we can give a player the sense of reality. To define the behavior pattern of a character, this study applied the Ego-state as defined by Transactional Analysis(TA). Based on the Transactions in TA, this study then defined the transaction patterns between the characters, which are produced by the actions that a character in the game. This study also presented how to apply a character's transaction patterns with the examples. It showed that a character can act in the game like a real person by defining how a character acts and interacts in the game.

Analysis of Mediating and Moderating Effect of Directors' Leadership between Early Childhood Teachers' Emotional Labor and their Burn Out (정서노동이 유아교사의 심리적 소진에 미치는 영향: 원장 리더십의 조절효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the mediating and moderating effect of directors' transformational leadership or transactional leadership between early childhood teachers' emotional labor and their burn out. The subjects were 211 early childhood teachers in the kindergartens and day care centers located in Kyonggido. 'Emotional Labor Assessment for Early Childhood Teachers', 'Assessment of Directors' Transformational Leadership or Transactional Leadership', and 'Early Childhood Teachers' Burn Out Assessment' were used in the collection of data. It used Pearson's correlation and Multi-Regression Analysis to analyze the data. The results of this study are as follows; first, there were positive correlations between early childhood teachers' emotional labor and their burn out. And, there was negative correlations between early childhood teachers' burn out and directors' transformational leadership or transactional leadership. Second, it was revealed that early childhood teachers' emotional labor was found as the positive predict variable for effecting their burn out. Third, it was revealed that directors transformational leadership or transactional leadership was found as the negative predict variable for effecting early childhood teachers' burn out. Fourth, directors' transformational leadership was a mediating effect of job environment dissatisfaction which is a sub area of burn out. In addition, directors' transactional leadership was a mediating effect of physical-emotional exhaustion which is a sub area of burn out.

The Effect of Specialty Hospital CEO Leadership Style on Hospital Organizational Effectiveness and Customer Orientation (전문병원 병원장의 리더십이 조직유효성과 고객지향성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an effective leadership in the hospital management by analyzing the relationship of the effect of the specialty hospital CEO's leadership on the employees' organizational effectiveness as well as the customer orientation, and the mediation effects of the organizational effectiveness on the relation between hospital CEO's leadership and the customer orientation. The questionnaires of the survey targeting the 99 specialty hospitals were collected that 786 copies of them were utilized in analysis. The major outcomes of the research can be summarized as follows. Firstly, transformational leadership of specialty hospital CEO generally has the greater impact on the employees' job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention than his transactional leadership. Secondly, the most important sub-variable of specialty hospital CEO leadership affecting the organizational effectiveness of the employees are charisma of transformational leadership and contingent reward of transactional leadership. Thirdly, the sub-variable of specialty hospital CEO leadership which has the greatest impact on customer orientation of employees is the active management-by-exception of transactional leadership. Fourthly, the sub-variables in the organizational effectiveness such as job satisfaction, organizational commitment and the turnover intention of hospital employees play mostly the partial mediation role between the customer orientation of employees and the leadership of a specialty hospital CEO. This means that the more the organizational effectiveness of specialty hospital employees improves, the more the customer orientation does. Thus, specialty hospital CEOs need to pay attention to the sub-variables in organizational effectiveness so as to improve the customer orientation of the employees. To explore further the nature of the effect of hospital leadership in the future, apart form the variables of the organization effectiveness used in this study to improve the customer orientation of employees through the leadership of the specialty hospital CEO, the research to identify other factors which have greater influence and explanatory power will be needed.

The Impact of Transactional Leadership to Organizational Commitment: The Mediating Effect of Followership (거래적 리더십이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향: 팔로워십의 매개효과)

  • Transactional leadership(TL) is to provide constructive feedback to organizational employee's commitment and to engender a positive impact on individuals and organizations. In this respect, this study is to investigate police's TL could positively influence organizational commitment, and is there a mediated effect in this impact empirically. This study based on the analysis on a random sample of police who has worked in Seongnam, Kwangjoo, and Hanam cities. The findings are the follows. (1) Police's TL has a positive effect on followership. (2) Police's TL has a positive effect on employees' commitment highly. (3) Police's followership has a positive effect on employees' commitment highly. (4) Followership has a partial mediated effect to relationship between Police's TL and employees' commitment. In these results, transactional leadership and followership are to verify a critical factor to improve police's organizational commitment.

The Influence of Ego State and Interpersonal Skill among Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아상태가 대인관계 기술에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study was to examine the effects of ego state on the interpersonal skills of nursing students. The targets of this study were the nursing students in D city. The questionnaires were administered to one hundred forty-four nursing students between March 15 and March 30 in 2015. For ego state, the study used Egogram checklist, developed by Bernes and standardized by Korea Transactional Analysis Association, and for interpersonal skills, it used Relationship Change Scale, developed by Schlein and Guerney and revised to suit the conditions in Korea. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression. The study results showed that the variables that had significant explanatory power (33.8%) for interpersonal skills were the nurturing parent ego, adapted child ego, and free child ego. The study suggests convergent implications on a transactional analysis programs for nursing students to improve interpersonal skills as the findings showed that the ego state of nursing students affected the interpersonal skills.

Relations Among Motivation to Lead, Leadership Behavior, and Performance (리더십 발휘동기, 리더십 행위 그리고 성과간의 관계에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • The current study is an attempt, in two separate surveys, to explore the role of motivation to lead, which has rarely been introduced into academic leadership research in Korea. For the survey and statistical analysis, the population is defined as the employees working in Korea. The motivation to lead is considered important in practices since without it any leadership development interventions show less possibility to succeed. The motivation to lead was defined in terms of three dimensions as in affective motivation, socio-normative motivation, and non-calculative motivation(Chen & Drasgow, 2001). The study then empirically explored the potential relationships between the three dimensions and leadership styles. Specifically, such leadership styles as transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and self-sacrificial leadership behavior have been correlated to motivation to lead. In addition, using regression analysis, the explanatory power of the motivation to lead on various dependent variables were investigated. As a result, the three dimensions of motivation to lead, that is, affective, socio-normative, and non-calculative motivations each were found to have strong correlations with transformational, transactional, and self-sacrificial leadership, as well as with other criterion-related variables such as organizational commitment and trust. Limitations of the current study, along with future research directions were also discussed.

The Effects of CEO's Leadership on the Organiational Effectiveness (CEO의 리더십이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study identifies the empirical effects of CEO's transactional leadership & transformational leadership(LEADERSHIP) on organizational effectiveness(OE) in the consulting industry. Next, this study identifies that if there are any differences on understanding on LEADERSHIP and OE depending on consulting organizations with a propensity for individualism. The analysis of the data shows LEADERSHIP is positively related to OE. Finally it is shown in this study that the consulting organizations with a high individualistic propensity(IP) show perception differences on charismatic leadership, compared to those with a low IP.

  • This paper reviewed the relationship between superior leadership and job stress responses, and the moderating effect of age in maintenance area of air force. Based on the responses from 450 air force maintenance persons, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that transactional leadership has negative relationship with physiological stress response, charisma has negative relationship with psychological stress, and individual consideration has negative relationship with behavioral stress. In moderating effects, age has negative effect on the relationship between transactional leadership and physiological stress response, and age has positive effect on the relationship between charisma and psychological stress response.
