  • In recent years, training systems in various industrial fields have been made using virtual reality (VR) technology and widely used in education. Virtual reality based training system is safe, there is no waste of material, and there are many advantages to be able to practice anytime and anywhere. For example, virtual reality welding training simulation system is widely used for field worker because it can perform actual joining of steel plate in immersive environment. At this time, realistic representation of the steel plate joint is important to maximize the effectiveness of the training, but existing techniques have limited the natural expression of the effect. In this study, we propose a method of visualizing joint effect based on shader in order to construct welding training system. The results of this study can be applied to the welding training system to improve the weld training effect to provide the user with high-quality visualization.

  • Purpose: The practical examination portion of the National Dental Licensing Examination (NDLE) is slated to be administered in the latter half of 2021 in the form of a clinical performance examination that comprehensively evaluates the patient-dentist interaction using standardized patients (SPs). The SPs should be equipped with the basic qualities and capacity as evaluators for a fair and reliable administration of the test. Materials and Methods: In this study, we analyzed the existing training materials for SPs who participated in domestic and overseas practical tests for the development of training materials for SPs through seminars and surveys of 11 dentistry schools and colleges. Result: First, SPs should be selected according to the basic quality criteria and capacity, which they must possess, and the preliminary basic training about the details which they must have knowledge of and be provided through videorecorded cases before the implementation of the preliminary field training. Second, the roles of SPs and the calibration process of the evaluation result forms are needed when conducting the preliminary field training for SPs. After watching video-recorded scenario cases, the SPs participate in discussions about the watched videos before proceeding to calibration practices of evaluation result forms. Third, because the Type A questionnaire of the practical examination of the NDLE is dependent on the SPs' capacity and training, the fairness of the practical test is largely dependent on the SPs. Therefore, practicing the roles as evaluators and evaluation training should be provided using practical test items that can improve the reliability of the test and show a high level of reproducibility about the same case. Conclusion: The findings of this study will be utilized for the development of training materials for SPs, so they can participate in the administration of a fair and reliable practical examination of the NDLE.

  • Although the fields in which is utilized children's speech recognition is on the rise, the lack of quality data is an obstacle to improving children's speech recognition performance. This paper proposes a new method for improving children's speech recognition performance by additionally using adult speech data. The proposed method is a transformer based domain adversarial training using dynamically weighted loss to effectively address the data imbalance gap between age that grows as the amount of adult training data increases. Specifically, the degree of class imbalance in the mini-batch during training was quantified, and the loss function was defined and used so that the smaller the data, the greater the weight. Experiments validate the utility of proposed domain adversarial training following asymmetry between adults and children training data. Experiments show that the proposed method has higher children's speech recognition performance than traditional domain adversarial training method under all conditions in which asymmetry between age occurs in the training data.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the direction of teacher training to the future society by analyzing the key directions for teacher training announced by the Teacher Education and Training Department of the Ministry of Education for the past three years (2021, 2022, and 2023). The research results are as follows. First, there has been no change in the background for teacher training over the past three years. The background for the promotion of teacher training over the past three years is to increase teacher expertise, respond to the future environment, improve the quality of teacher training, and secure momentum for educational policy. The details of the background for the promotion have also remained unchanged over the past three years. Second, the teacher training vision for the past three years is innovation in the teacher training system. To this end, the vision is to lead changes in the future educational environment in 2021, to lead future public education in 2022, and to provide customized educational support for individual students in 2023. In terms of training goals, in 2021, the goal is to continuously develop professionalism appropriate for the life stage of teachers and enhance teacher core competencies suitable for the future educational environment, and in 2022, to strengthen teacher capabilities appropriate for the future education system and secure social trust through enhancing teacher training. In 2023, the focus is on changing classroom teaching through strengthening teacher capabilities suitable for the future education system and improving teacher training. There are three main directions for teacher training over the past three years. First, customized training support, second, strengthening the future training system, and third, improving teacher training. These three are all similar over the past three years. In conclusion, there has been no significant change in the direction of teacher training over the past three years.

  • In this study, we propose a way to improve science teacher expertise through infographics creation teacher training program by analyzing the infographics types focusing on the Earth Science subject of the 2015 revised curriculum, and inspecting the teachers' utilization of graphic tools. The data visualization characteristics of Earth Science textbooks were analyzed, the execution results of the infographics creation teacher training program were presented, and a survey on science teachers' change in perception and competency of infographics. As a result of the Earth Science textbook analysis, diagram-type, map-type, and comparative analysis-type infographics were frequently used, and were mainly presented as text-assisted-type infographics. The infographics creation teacher training program was conducted five times for 112 science teachers to create the complete, text-assisted, incomplete, and gradient-type infographics. Incomplete infographics for development of evaluation questions were most needed. Although many science teachers recognize the importance of infographics, they lacked the competency to create high-quality infographics because there were no training opportunities for infographics creation. After completing the training, 74.1% of teachers felt that the quality of developments of supplementary textbooks and evaluation questions had improved, and answered that it was helpful in re-educating knowledge and improving teaching-learning methods. Based on the research results, ways to improve science teacher expertise through infographics creation teacher training program were suggested.
