  • The membrane separation process is growing very fast because of the high efficiency and low cost compared with other traditional process. The membrane process consists of various components such as membrane, module and mechanical part. The requirements for materials used in the membrane separation are becoming more and more demanding for achievement of high efficiency. Membrane module is also considered as the one of the key component in the membrane system. Recently composite materials have been considered as the membrane housing due to their excellent property and low cost compared with stainless module. In this review, a various types of glass fiber and composite material are summarized and their potential for the application of membrane system is discussed.

  • Recently construction activities increase in reclaimed onshore areas. It is therefore considered an important factor for the design of pile foundation with problems in terms of settlements due to soft grounds. Nevertheless the design of piles for negative skin friction(or downdrag forces) is probably poorly understood by many engineers. It is mainly because the most of design specification give a way to design pile foundation in bearing capacity aspect although the negative skin friction is related to settlement(downdrag). Under LRFD(load resistance factor design) approach it is to separately consider ultimate limit state and serviceability limit state. This paper discusses LRFD approach to the design of piles for negative skin friction and compares this approach to traditional design approach. And also a case history is analyzed in that point of view.

  • When it comes to discussing the natural behaviors of human life, defining the word "community" itself can be extremely crucial. The word "Community" can be defined as a group of interacting human beings sharing an environment. It is also the basic form for "dwelling" which can be explained as a quint essential factor in human life. Compared to the previous traditional society with strong bonding and close chemistry between neighbors, modern society with simple and monolithic apartments brought a literal extinction of what has been called as a 'relationship'. Hence, people started to take this phenomenon as a problematic issue. Also, high-rise apartments made its residents more isolated and individualistic on a growing basis. In order to aid the aggravating symptoms, there has been a wide recognition between the "dwellers" to develop and strengthen their "community". This movement in strengthening the "community" is currently on a full expansion towards the cyber space, riding the tides of a drastic improvement of the Internet. Apartment web sites today not only displays introductory level of information they also provide wider meanings of general lifestyle plus deeper content, which can enhance their community.

  • For a long time, architecture has functioned as something that is inevitable for humans, a necessity that provides housing settings and living spaces for human lives. In the creation of art, architecture is a genre that has a field of infinite possibilities of endless inspirations of the present and the future with its unimaginable various styles and functions. This study aims at analyzing the figurative formation and characteristic expression style of nude architecture with modern fashion design, reinterpreting it by a modern edge, and expressing it into an originative costume work. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is to provide a new motive for the potential of continuous development of modern fashion in the future through an endless study on artistic architecture that includes nude architecture and an originative expression style that will prepare a momentum that indicates the direction into a new line of fashion.

Most of the buildings housing the seting village of Garchon flavor appears in the form of the natural terrain accept the wall which is exposed on the outside of the roof, wall materials and colors, such as the town without a regular basis to undermine the image of the landscape and so Darangyi rice field standard set for maintenance of landscapes that are needed. Regional officer of the private property of individuals, but local and national recognition of the shared property, and only when done in this regard the establishment of asset and as a scenic area that has to cherish the history and culture between the people who live where the feedback through the exchange of sensitive areas and to the people who live in it will be an alternative to a variety of ways.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the plan type of traditional folk housing in Jeoun-Nam Province. The building time of these houses is mainly from early 19C to early 20C and about 1,000 houses have been investigated. The conclusion of this research is 1. Small house is composed of kitchen, one or two rooms and Marae(the place of storage and sacrificial rite). Big house has one more room and one more storage in comparison with the small house. Marae and Jeoungjibang(a room which is in front of kitchen) are characteristic rooms of folk house in Jeoun-Nam Province. 2. The plan type varies in Jeoun-Nam Province. '-'type is a main type of layout and it is arranged a kitchen, a big room, a Marae and a small room in order. In the big house, jeoungjibang(the third room) is added. 3. In the southwestern Island area, no room is arranged beside Marae. Marae has characteristic confucian order because it is the place of sacrificial rite. Therefore there is a great difference in comparison with other area. 4. In the mountain area such as Gurae, there are some houses which have two rooms arranged up and down in one side; that is, upside is Marae and downside is small room. This type is called Kyump Jip.

So naturally these areas are located in the main space of the house. 2. ANMADANG as well as SARANGMADANG was used as the main walkway in the house and as the main place for the ceremonies such as marriage and funenal. MADANG space in the house played a semi-indoor-space fole andperformed the functions which limited indoor space couldu's carry out when ceremonies took place. 3. It seems that SADANG had net been utilized in the daily routine but located within the residence due to the ritualism.

  • Architectural space consists of the interior and the exterior. The layout and form of architectural space has a great variety of characters by region and culture. In other words, it can be understood which has a priority between the interior and the exterior in developing the layout and the form of architectural space. Belonging to the culture area of Chinese characters with Korea, Japan has maintained its own identity. It has an identity in the layout and form of architectural space as well. Therefore, the architecture and architectural theories of the two countries were compared and analyzed with priority given to the traditional architecture extending to the contemporary architecture, also the backgrounds of architecture and architectural theories of two countries were examined in this study. This study shows that each country has different characters in how to introduce nature, how to expand space and how to compose windows, including the view of nature and the cult of space. As a result, the space in Korean architecture has relatively the exterior-oriented character but in Japan architecture spatial character is interior-oriented. The interior-oriented character can be relevant to the word ‘reduction’ and the exterior-oriented character to ‘extension’ after all. Also it can be thought that each character has a great relation with climate and idea of people in power

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the trend of the room where activities of daily living and family events(activities of non-daily living) were performed with time. Research data was collected in 1992 and 2002 from households living in Seoul that have university student by using questionnaire surveys. Data was analyzed using the SPSS package program. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Living room was a multi-purpose space for various activities: receiving guests, family communication, ironing, sewing and dining as well as a kitchen. Anbang(master bed room) is the place where the couple sleeps. The room's purpose has changed from a multi-purpose space to a private space. 2) Most of the families performed the majority of the family events in the living room and Anbang. In the past, traditional events and birthday parties were performed in Anbang, but currently the trend has changed. This would mean that with time the majority of the family events were held in the living room. 3) Space planning is required to meet the dwellers' use of living room and Anbang.

  • With the increasing popularity of Smart Grid infrastructure, it is much easier to collect energy usage data using AMI (Advanced Measuring Instrument) from residential housing, buildings and factories. Several researches have been done to improve an energy efficiency by analyzing the collected energy usage data. However, it is not easy to store and analyze the energy data using a traditional relational database management system since the data size grows exponentially with an increasing popularity of Smart grid infrastructure. In this paper, we are proposing a Hadoop based Big data system to store and analyze energy usage data. Based on our limited experiments, Hadoop based energy data analysis is three times faster than that of a relational database management system based approach with the current system.
