Fast IHS 변환을 이용한 trade-off 영상 융합기법 (A Trade-off Image Fusion Technique Using Fast Intensity-Hue-Saturation Transform)

  • 위성영상의 융합에 있어, 가장 중요한 점은 전정영상의 공간적 세밀함과 다중분광영상의 분광정보 모두를 보존하는 것이다. 다양한 영상융합 기법 중에서, IHS 변환을 이용한 융합기법은 폭넓게 사용되고 있으며, 계산과정이 매우 단순하다는 장점을 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는, fast IHS 변환과 trade-off 파라미터 $\alpha^i$를 이용한 융합기법을 제안한다. 제안한 융합 기법은 분광 ERGAS와 공간 ERGAS의 평가를 통하여, 융합영상에서 분광정보와 공간적 세밀함 사이의 trade-off 최적화를 가능하게 한다. IKONOS 영상의 실험결과, 제안한 기법은 기존의 fast IHS 변환을 이용한 융합기법에 비해 공간적 세밀함과 분광정보의 보존측면에서 더 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In conventional model updating using single-objective optimization techniques, incompatible physical data are compared with each other using weighting factors. There are no general rules for selecting the weighting factors since they are not directly related with the dynamic behavior of an updated model. So one of the most difficult tasks, in model updating study, is 'balancing among the correlations' i.e. 'trade-off'. In this work, a multiobjecitive optimization technique called 'satisficing trade-off method' is introduced to extremize several correlations simultaneously. The absurd need for the weighting factors can be avoided using this technique. And the updated model with the most appropriate correlations is obtained easily in interactive way. Especially automatic trade-off is employed to increase the rate of convergence to the desired model. Its effectiveness is verified by application to a real engineering problem, HDD cover model updating.

Time-Cost Trade-Off by Lead-Time Adjustment in the PDM Network

  • Since the late 1980s, the schedule technique applied to the construction industry around the world has rapidly changed from the traditional ADM (Arrow Diagramming Method) to the PDM (Precedence Diagramming Method) technique. The main reason for this change is to overcome the limits and inconveniences of the traditional ADM technique. The time-cost trade-off is one of the core scheduling techniques to establish the best optimized combination plan in terms of a relationship between the cost and schedule. However, most of the schedule-related textbooks and research papers have discussed and proposed applications of a time-cost trade-off technique based only on the Finish to Start relationship. Therefore, there are almost no consideration and discussion of problems or restrictions that emerge when the time-cost trade-off technique is applied to the PDM network that has overlapping relationships. This paper proposes the lead-time adjustment method as a methodology for overcoming some restrictions that are encountered when the time-cost trade-off technique is applied to the overlapping relationships of the PDM network.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a method of applying response surface analysis to trade-off techniques for the conceptual design of armored vehicle. The problem areas of concern are the use of this method in the selection of optimum design points when user requirements are in conflict. The application of this method to trade-offs of performance parameters in terms of weight are presented.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and illustrate methods of applying trade-off techniques to landing craft air cushion design evaluation. The problem areas of concern are the application of quantitative analytical methods to conceptual design. The interrelationships between composite system measures and selected performance requirements(speed, cruising range, cargo etc.) are analyzed and the expressions for gross weight are developed as functions of performance parameters. Trade-offs of performance parameters in terms of weight are then calculated. The application of these results to evaluation of Require Operational Capabilities are illustrated.

  • In this paper, various modulation techniques, including the legacy Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signal modulation techniques, are introduced and the spectral characteristics and correlation characteristics of signals with various modulation techniques are analyzed based on numerical simulation. With the development of various GNSS services, the limited frequency band has become increasingly saturated, and issues of interoperability and compatibility have emerged in the new GNSS design. Since the efficient allocation of frequency resources is closely related to spectrum design, modulation techniques are one of the important signal design parameters of new signal design. Signal modulation techniques are closely related to various figure of merits (FoMs) as well as spectrum characteristic, and in some cases there is a complicated trade-off between FoMs. Thus, the FoMs associated with modulation technology should be analyzed and the best signal candidates should be chosen carefully via the trade-off analysis for FoMs. In this paper, we define the modulation technique based on Phase Shift Keying (PSK), Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) and Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) for the design of KPS signals, and the FoMs of signals in terms of spectrum and correlation function are evaluated. Signals with various modulation techniques are implemented through a numerical simulation, and the relevant FoMs are analyzed.

선진 핵연료주기 기술 개발을 위한 핵연료주기 분석 기술 (Nuclear Fuel Cycle Analysis Technology to Develop Advanced Nuclear Fuel Cycle)

  • 핵연료주기 분석 연구는 핵연료주기 단계에서 기술들을 분석하고 요건들을 도출하여 국가적 핵연료주기 정책 설정 및 추진을 체계적으로 수행하기 위한 연구이다. 시스템 분석 기술은 대상 시스템의 비교 분석 평가에 활용되며 핵연료주기를 대상으로 하는 경우 각 국가 또는 관심 범위에 따라 다양한 방법이 사용된다. 본 연구에서는 국내 선진 핵연료주기 개발을 위해 필요한 핵연료주기 분석 전략과 함께 이를 위해 사용될 수 있는 분석 기술들을 제시하였다. 핵연료주기 분석은 전략적으로 기술적 분석, 국내외 이해관계, 국가 에너지 프로그램과 연계되어야 한다. 이를 위해 다양한 핵연료주기를 비교하여 제시된 평가 지표에 따라 분석하는 연구는 트레이드 연구 방법을 적용하여 수행할 수 있다. 본 연구를 통한 조사 분석 결과 핵연료주기 분석 전략과 함께 방법적 측면에서 트레이드 연구가 선진 핵연료주기 도출에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 파악되었다. 트레이드 연구에 필수적인 평가지표를 선정하고 각 지표별 핵연료주기에 대한 정보를 얻기 위해서는 기술성숙도 분석 방법과 핵연료주기 시뮬레이터를 활용할 수 있을 것으로 제시하였다. 이들은 핵연료주기의 기술성, 경제성, 환경영향성 등을 비교 평가하여 기술개발을 위한 방향을 제시하고 체계적인 선진 핵연료주기 도출 및 실현에 기여할 것이다.

파이프라인 시스템의 최적화를 위한 설계변환 (Design Transformation for the Optimization of Pipelined Systems)

  • 본 연구에서는 파이프라인 구조를 갖는 시스템의 효율적인 설계를 위하여 변환을 이용한 설계 최적화 기술을 개발하였다. 변환 최적화 기술은 파이프라인 구조로의 변환과 retiming을 이용한 변환을 포함한다. 새로운 변환 방법은 다음의 세 가지 특징을 갖는다. 첫째, 여러 개의 파이프라인 블록을 동시에 고려하여 retiming 등의 변환을 수행함으로써, 파이프라인 구조 시스템의 전체 성능을 최적화한다. 둘째, 시스템의 면적과 수행시간 간의 trade-off를 가능하도록 하여, 회로 설계자가 다양한 설계의 대안을 찾고자 할 때 실용적인 도움을 준다. 셋째, 본 방법은 새로운 변환 및 알고리즘 개발 등의 문제로 쉽게 확장 가능하고, 메모리 또는 버스 등을 고려한 최적화 문제에도 사용될 수 있다. DSP 예제들에 대하여 실험한 결과, 평균적으로 면적은 21%, 성능은 17% 개선되었다. 특히, 본 기술은 여러 설계 대안의 효율적인 탐색에 유용하다.

Do Firm Characteristics and Industry Matter in Determining Corporate Cash Holdings? Evidence from Hospitality Firms

  • The study investigates a recent surge of cash literature by using a sample of hospitality firms to gain a new understanding of corporate cash holdings. Past literature states that there is a substantial variation of liquidity across industry groups. Existing literature predominantly refers to US-listed firms and focus on either hotels or restaurants and not the hospitality industry as a whole. Therefore, we provide a comparative study of cash holdings behaviour between hospitality and non-hospitality firms from an emerging market context. Using a sample of public listed hospitality firms from 2002 to 2013, dynamic panel regression techniques are used to study the relationships between firm characteristics and cash levels. Also, the non-parametric Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test was carried out to examine the time and sectoral differences in cash holdings. In addition, the panel regression techniques are used to investigate the relationships between firm characteristics and level of corporate cash holdings. The results reveal that firm characteristics do matter in hospitality firms. We find that firm size, capital expenditures, and liquid assets substitutes are negatively related to cash level. The results support trade-off theory and the pecking order theory. This study incrementally explains the cash holdings behaviour of hospitality firms in emerging market.
