Verification of X-sight Lung Tracking System in the CyberKnife (사이버나이프에서 폐종양 추적 시스템의 정확도 분석)

  • To track moving tumor in real time, CyberKnife system imports a technique of the synchrony respiratory tracking system. The fiducial marker which are detectable in X-ray images were demand in CyberKnife Robotic radiosurgery system. It issued as reference markers to locate and track tumor location during patient alignment and treatment delivery. Fiducial marker implantation is an invasive surgical operation that carries a relatively high risk of pneumothorax. Most recently, it was developed a direct lung tumor registration method that does not require the use of fiducials. The purpose of this study is to measure the accuracy of target applying X-sight lung tracking using the Gafchromic film in dynamic moving thorax phantom. The X-sight Lung Tracking quality assurance motion phantom simulates simple respiratory motion of a lung tumor and provides Gafchromic dosimetry film-based test capability at locations inside the phantom corresponding to a typical lung tumor. The total average error for the X-sight Lung Tracking System with a moving target was $0.85{\pm}0.22$ mm. The results were considered reliable and applicable for lung tumor treatment in CyberKnife radiosurgery system. Clinically, breathing patterns of patients may vary during radiation therapy. Therefore, additional studies with a set real patient data are necessary to evaluate the target accuracy for the X-sight Lung Tracking system.

  • As the use of computer has been popularized these days, an active research is in progress to make much more convenient and natural interface compared to the existing user interfaces such as keyboard or mouse. For this reason, there is an increasing interest toward Microsoft's motion sensing module called Kinect, which can perform hand motions and speech recognition system in order to realize communication between people. Kinect uses its built-in sensor to recognize the main joint movements and depth of the body. It can also provide a simple speech recognition through the built-in microphone. In this paper, the goal is to use Kinect's depth value data, skeleton tracking and labeling algorithm to recognize information about the extraction and movement of hand, and replace the role of existing peripherals using a virtual mouse, a virtual keyboard, and a speech recognition.

  • In order to provide a tailored education for learners within the ubiquitous environment, it is critical to undertake an analysis of the learning activities of learners. For this purpose, SCORM (Sharable Contents Object Reference Model), IMS LD (Instructional Management System Learning Design) and other standards provide learning design support functions, such as, progress checks. However, in order to apply these types of standards, contents packaging is required, and due to the complicated standard dimensions, the facilitation level is lower than the work volume when developing the contents and this requires additional work when revision becomes necessary. In addition, since the learning results are managed by the server there is the problem of the OS being unable to save data when the network is cut off. In this study, a system is realized to manage the actions of learners through the event interception of a web-browser by using event hooking. Through this technique, all HTMLbased contents can be facilitated again without additional work and saving and analysis of learning results are available to improve the problems following the application of standards. Furthermore, the ubiquitous learning environment can be supported by tracking down learning results when the network is cut off.

  • Batch processes are a significant class of processes in the process industry and play an important role in the production of high quality speciality materials. Examples include the production of semiconductors, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and biochemicals. With on-line sensors connected to most batch processes, massive amounts of data are being collected routinely during the batch on easily measured process variables such as temperatures, pressures, and flowrates. In this paper, multivariate SPC charts for on-line monitoring of the progress of new batches are developed which utilize the information in the on-line measurements in real-time. We propose the formation of statistical model which describes the normal operation of a batch at each time interval during the batch operation. An on-line monitoring scheme based on the proposed method can handle both cross-correlation among process variables at any one time and auto-correlation over time. And the control limits for the monitoring charts are established from sound statistical framework unlike previous researches which use the external reference distribution. The proposed charts perform real-time, on-line monitoring to ensure that the batch is progressing in a manner that will lead to a high-quality product or to detect and indicate faults that can be corrected prior to completion of the batch. This approach is capable of tracking the progress of new batch runs, identifying the time periods in which the fault occurred and detecting underlying cause.

Simulation and Experimental Studies of Real-Time Motion Compensation Using an Articulated Robotic Manipulator System

  • The purpose of this study is to install a system that compensated for the respiration motion using an articulated robotic manipulator couch which enables a wide range of motions that a Stewart platform cannot provide and to evaluate the performance of various prediction algorithms including proposed algorithm. For that purpose, we built a miniature couch tracking system comprising an articulated robotic manipulator, 3D optical tracking system, a phantom that mimicked respiratory motion, and control software. We performed simulations and experiments using respiratory data of 12 patients to investigate the feasibility of the system and various prediction algorithms, namely linear extrapolation (LE) and double exponential smoothing (ES2) with averaging methods. We confirmed that prediction algorithms worked well during simulation and experiment, with the ES2-averaging algorithm showing the best results. The simulation study showed 43% average and 49% maximum improvement ratios with the ES2-averaging algorithm, and the experimental study with the $QUASAR^{TM}$ phantom showed 51% average and 56% maximum improvement ratios with this algorithm. Our results suggest that the articulated robotic manipulator couch system with the ES2-averaging prediction algorithm can be widely used in the field of radiation therapy, providing a highly efficient and utilizable technology that can enhance the therapeutic effect and improve safety through a noninvasive approach.

  • The two dimensional echocardiography is widely used to evaluate regional wall motion abnormality, because of its abilities to depict left ventricular wall motion. A number of researches have been processed for evaluation and quantitative analysis of left ventricular wall motion functions. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm which detects automatically and analyze quantitatively endocardial wall motion during systole. The echocardiograms were obtained in the short-axis views in normal subjects. Automated edge detection and endocardial contour tracking algorithm was applied to each frames, quantitative analysis based on segmentation was performed, pre-defined color overlays superimposed on the gray scale images, and the images was animated. The proposed algorithm provided automated, quantitative diagnosis of regional wall motion abnormality.

  • The management of construction materials is one of the important administration factor to perform construction projects. If it is not flexible to supply necessary materials to a workplace at a proper time, some problems such as a construction cost increase, an operation delay, a lowering of work efficiency and etc. could occur during the progress of work. Therefore, tracking the precise location of materials is important and necessary to input materials in the accurate place. Although Location sensing techniques comprise GPS, Active Badge, EasyLing and so forth, there are technical limitations to apply these techniques on construction site. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose the technically feasible method to automatically locate materials on site using recent RFID and wireless network technologies.

Detection of Indication of Electric Accident in Simulated Electric Equipments Using Standard Deviation and Probability Distribution (표준편차와 확률분포를 이용한 모의전기설비에서 사고징후 검출)

  • This paper describes a detecting method for indication of an electric accident in electric equipments. For that, loads of electric equipment is consisted of incandescent lamps. And the electric accident is simulated a tracking test apparatus according to KS C IEC (Korea Standard C International Electrostatic Commission) 60112 at some part of the simulation of the electric equipment. Simulated electric accident is occurred from static states through discharge in progress, carbon formation to tracking breakdown. The total current of electric equipments is measured and analyzed for detecting of indication of the electric accident using a current monitor. For the result, as an electric accident processed, as a current pulse is bigger and a ratio of appearance also increases at certain part of current waveforms. And standard deviation and probability distribution for certain part of current waveforms show remarkably different pattern in each step of electric accident which is irrespective of amount of load.

  • Conventional maritime communication struggles to provide high data rate services for Internet of Things (IoT) devices due to the variability of maritime environments, making it challenging to ensure consistent connectivity for onboard sensors and devices. To resolve this, we perform mathematical modeling of the maritime channel and compare it with real measurement data. Through the modeled channel, we verify the received beam gain at buoys on the ocean surface. Additionally, leveraging the modeled wave motions, we estimate future angles of the buoy to use the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) for design beamforming strategies that adapt to the evolving maritime environment over time. We further validate the effectiveness of these strategies by assessing the results from an outage probability perspective. focuses on improving maritime communication by developing a dynamic model of the maritime channel and implementing a Kalman filter-based buoy motion tracking system. This system is designed to enable precise beamforming, a technique used to direct communication signals more accurately. By improving beamforming, the aim is to enhance the quality of communication links, even in challenging maritime conditions like rough seas and varying sea states. In our simulations that consider realistic wave motions, you've observed significant improvements in link quality due to the enhanced beamforming technique. These improvements are particularly notable in environments with high sea states, where communication challenges are typically more pronounced. The progress made in this area is not just a technical achievement; it has broad implications for the future of maritime communication technologies.   • A large number of vision applications rely on matching keypoints across images. Pedestrian detection is under constant pressure to increase both its quality and speed. Such progress allows for new application. A higher speed enables its inclusion into large systems with extensive subsequent processing, and its deployment in computationally constrained scenarios. In this paper, we focus on improving the speed of pedestrian detection using HOG(histogram of oriented gradient) and multi frame operation which is robust to illumination changes in cluttering images. The result of our simulation indicates that the detection rate and speed of the proposed method is much faster than that of conventional HOG and differential images.
