  • A travel destination offers a form of novelty to the traveler since it can provide experiences that are not of the everyday variety. Therefore, a search for novelty is important as a motivation factor when planning leisure trips and vacation activities and to identify travel market segments. This study aimed to examine the differences in demographic characteristics, travel style, and preferred food-related activities in accordance with the level of tourists' novelty seeking. This study investigated potential tourists using a self-administered questionnaire survey, which resulted in 300 usable questionnaires. The respondents of this study were classified into two groups according to their level of novelty seeking: Active novelty-seeking group and Passive novelty-seeking group. These two groups were significantly different with respect to demographic characteristics, travel style, and preference of food-related-activity experience. The results show that the Active novelty-seeking group tended to have a higher proportion of females and specialized jobs, a higher level of monthly income and education, more frequent travel, and preference for food-related activity experience than other groups. The result of this study will be helpful for the tourist industry, which needs to develop culinary and food-related experience tour programs and travel market segments.

  • In this study, I grasped the actual conditions of folk exhibition hall in Chungbuk area. From this data I researched basically as the fundamental role of regional museum, eco-museum core center facilities, the connection with islanded and various inheritances, and central facilities whole area to the museum. And I could get following conclusion. First, on the studied result of folk exhibition hall in chungbuk area, it is not enough the activity of unearthing, collection, study etc. that is basic activity of the museum because the museum just permanently displayed historical contents of the area and simple life folk data. Second, add to existent museum concept and have to widen viewpoint to the museum which whole area is no roof, and utilize folk exhibition hall as the central facilities. Specially, there are a lot of difficulties to communicate information to visitors because of the absence of cultural heritance exponent. So a plan that local resident participate actively in museum activity may have to be considered. Third, the concept of inheritance limited in historical culture of area has to be widening by nature and industry etc. And we should keep up study that is the linked plan to scattered conservation remains, inheritance and tourist place in area.

  • The role of rural towns as a leisure space has recently been increasing with changes in the consumption trends in domestic tourism. Based on the tourists visiting the town of Sunheul-ri, Jocheon-eup, a rural Village in Jeju Island, this study categorized the market according to the images formed by the tourists of rural towns, and analyzed the preferred mode of participation in rural field activities for each category. We analyzed the characteristic factors of the images of rural tourism formed by the tourists, extracted three factors for cluster analysis, and then formed three groups: "Group of Rural Experience Activity" "Group of Rural Environment and Service" and "Group of Rest in the Rural" After analyzing the preferred activity in each image-category group, we found no significant differences among the groups in ordinary activities such as viewing the scenery, experiencing and learning about the natural environment, and culinary experiences. However, there were significant differences among the groups regarding participation in experiential tour programs with the purpose of active tourism. The "Group of Rural Experience Activity" sought to actively participate in various activity programs, whereas the "Group of Rest in the Rural" comparatively had a weaker preference for such active programs. We thus learnt that tourists' preferred activities are different according to the types of images formed by the tourists visiting rural towns. Therefore, to strengthen the competitive advantage of the rural tourist destinations of Jeju Island, it is necessary to provide various activity programs that are appropriate for the rural regions of Jeju and to accord with the expectations associated with each market segment category by positioning the programs according to the characteristics of the images held by the tourists.

  • The tourism industry has a great influence on national economy activation. The development of IT technology has enabled the collection and analysis of personal profile information, location information and activity information based on the characteristics, behavior, purchase propensity and interest of tourists. In order to realize this, the implementation of convergence smart tourism information service platform is completed by developing business model, IoT & Big Data integration management system, big data algorithm development and analysis platform in three stages. The underlying technology of the platform and algorithm needs a process of adopting open source, expanding the service element on the basis of it, and then complementing the problem through the test-bed demonstration test that connects the area. Using this platform, it is possible to develop a smart tourism environment that can provide customized services for each tourist by analyzing various information in an integrated manner. Also, it will be possible to improve the life of tourist destination residents and contribute to regional revitalization and job creation through the creation of smart tourism ecosystem focused on the region.

  • This study investigates tourists' sightseeing excursion behaviors and their information usage patterns at Fuji five lakes Area. This paper aims to empirically analyze the relationship between a sightseeing excursion behavior and use of tourist information applying a cluster analysis and a quantitative regression model. The main results are summarized as follows: (1) Tourists' information need is high about 90% of all tourists get information, 80% get the information before travel, 70% on the journey, 60% at the same time. (2) The patterns of information usage are categorized into 3 groups by the timing when tourists try to get the information.(3) There exists a difference among the time-spatial characteristics of excursion's behaviors such as the time after arriving time at sightseeing area, the time till go to home, duration time, and the total travel time between spots, the number of spots, and the size of excursion scale. • The human spatial mobility information is in high demand in various businesses; however, there are only few studies on human mobility because spatio-temporal data is insufficient and difficult to collect. Now with the spread of smartphones and the advent of social networking services, the spatio-temporal data began to occur on a large scale, and the data is available to the public. In this work, we compared the movement behavior of residents and tourists by using geo-tagged tweets which contain location information. We chose Seoul to be the target area for analysis. Various creative concepts and analytical methods are used: grid map concept, cells visited concept, reverse geocoding concept, average activity index, spatial mobility index, and determination of residents and visitors based on the number of days in residence. Conducting a series of analysis, we found significant differences of the movement behavior between local residents and tourists. We also discovered differences in visiting activity according to residential countries and used applications. We expect that findings of this research can provide useful information on tourist development and urban development.
