Development of the Metal Casting Process Management System Based on Touch Screen (터치 스크린 기반 금속 주조 공정 관리 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we describe the smart metal casting processing management system, in which we applied case-based reasoning on the window environment. Metal casting is one of the most common casting processes. The metal casting processing is complex and variable depends on a kind of metal casting products. Especially, the metal casting industry has a feature which produces small quantities but produces a lot of different types of metal casting products. And we developed the smart metal casting processing management system which could show the processing route according to the product cases intelligently using the result of case-based reasoning. The experimental result shows that our metal casting processing management system schemes achieves more productivity than manual management schemes.

  • Clients require easy to use of product and operating and industry safety according to the change of a market and a factory. For overcoming it, this paper developed controller of take-out robots that take high speed and superprecision and supplement a week point as use the system based on network. development controller classify teaching pendant and center server PC. Center server PC service the information about all process to supervisor. Teaching pendant is the bridge that service various faculties such as control, user recognition, metallic pattern operation to the user using injection molding. The controller development for taking out injection molded body classify software and hardware. The development of software is divided into three step which is application program, user interface and device driver. the simple device driver is not classified and included in application program. The hardware induce the touch panel and wireless network and construct the effective process control and internet connection. The inject ion cycle of existing system was five second but advanced system has the inner four cycle, process efficiency and product operation through wireless network.

  • In this paper, we describe about interactive electronic book utilizing tabletop display interface and digi-pet. Because of this system can define a lot of gestures using touch point of finger, help that user experiences electronic book effectively more than existent input device. Also, support 1 users in 1 input device in existent mode, but this system can expect various effect because support Multi-user. The digi-pet(digital pet) is physical tools that convey emotion between tabletop display platform and user. And this shows various results acting as assistance because becomes master of story of imagination and participate directly on talk and makes change of story. In this paper, we described about oriented electronic book system the future that combines tabletop display and Digi-pet. This system is expected that the usefulness is increased by leaps and bounds along with technology development forward.

3D Simulation of Dental Implant Surgery Using Surgical Guide Stents (식립 보조도구를 이용한 3D 치아 임플란트 시술 시뮬레이션)

  • Surgeon dentists usually rely on their experiential judgments from patients' oral plaster casts and medical images to determine the positional and directional information of implant fixtures and to perform drilling tasks during dental implant surgical operations. This approach, however, may cause some errors and deteriorate the quality of dental implants. Computer-aided methods have been introduced as supportive tools to alleviate the shortcomings of the conventional approach. In this paper, we present an approach of 3D dental implant simulation which can provide the realistic and immersive experience of dental implant information. The dental implant information is primarily composed of several kinds of 3D mesh models obtained as follows. Firstly, we construct 3D mesh models of jawbones, teeth and nerve curves from the patient's dental images using software $Mimics^{TM}$. Secondly, we construct 3D mesh models of gingival regions from the patient's oral impression using a reverse engineering technique. Thirdly, we select suitable types of implant fixtures from fixture database and determine the positions and directions of the fixtures by using the 3D mesh models and the dental images with software $Simplant^{TM}$. Fourthly, from the geometric and/or directional information of the jawbones, the gingival regions, the teeth and the fixtures, we construct the 3D models of surgical guide stents which are crucial to perform the drilling operations with ease and accuracy. In the application phase, the dental implant information is combined with the tangible interface device to accomplish 3D dental implant simulation. The user can see and touch the 3D models related with dental implant surgery. Furthermore, the user can experience drilling paths to make holes where fixtures are implanted. A preliminary user study shows that the presented approach can be used to provide dental students with good educational contents. With future work, we expect that it can be utilized for clinical studies of dental implant surgery.

  • Technology standards have gained importance as global market becomes more competitive. Since a technology acknowledged as a standard brings significant benefits to the developer firm, firms in the IT industry tend to pursue standardization for the technology, being it proprietary or open. However, the paths or strategic implications are seldom discussed in academia. Therefore, our study uses iPhone of Apple, one of the proprietary standards successes, to further understand corporate strategies over two standard choices. Our case study suggests that iPhone's entry timing was optimal for creating a new mobile environment. Design excellence and user-friendly interface increased networking effects and switching costs among consumers. Apple developed independent mobile operating system (iOS) through improvement on the existing operating system. During the process, Apple chose proprietary standard and, by installing the same UX on its sibling products such as iPod Touch or iPad, overcame the subsequent problems that might arise from the limited use of iOS. Based on the capability of concurrently developing both hardware and software, Apple connected operating system, machine, and contents, which deems to contribute to its proprietary standards success. We argue that this strategy should be considered for firms which plan proprietary standard strategy.

  • The ever increasing requirements on today's compacts with regard to their geometry and precision call for flexible high-precision and most capable production systems. DORST Technologies has coped with these requirements by developing the new HP series for pressing forces between 1600 kN and 16000 kN and the new HS series for pressing forces between 150 kN and 1200 kN. These fully hydraulic presses featuring upper ram, lower ram, core rod, filler, up to 4 lower tool levels and up to 4 upper tool levels with closed-loop controlled movements. Thanks to latest servo technology and an electronic bus system it is possible to have all movements closed-loop controlled in the desired relation to each other. Thus, today's hydraulic presses provide high stroke rates, low energy consumption and a user-friendly interface. The input of data is carried out via clearly arranged screen masks on a touch-screen. The innovative DORST $IPG^{(R)}$ (Intelligent Program Generator) has been designed to support the set-up staff in preparing and optimizing the toolprogram. The combination of the machine type with the hydraulic unit determines the productivity in consideration of the specific application and the part to be pressed. Thanks to the closed-loop control circuits, DORST hydraulic automatic presses of the latest generation ensure unmatched precision and repeatability - and consequently process reliability - often without necessitating subsequent machining steps.

  • The system was constructed so that safety training of the region city gas governor could be carried out using virtual reality. This system was used to survey the general public and it was found that the operation controller has a great influence on the user in the training system. The same survey question was conducted to construct the safety training system of city gas governor using joystick and oculus touch. The results of these two surveys confirm the importance of the operation controller in the safety training system using virtual reality.

  • I proposed wireless ordering system using Qt embedded. This system will make the good use of real life applications and make fit for practical use. I embodied data input, transfer, gathering and back-transfer on wireless network using TCP/IP protocol on QSocket provided by Qt. Server environment is Linux 9.0 and gcc-2.95.3 on PC, and three target-boards consist PXA255 processor with wireless-LAN card which communicate through wireless access pointer. Software tools on target-board are gcc, tmake, qt-X11, qt-embedded and etc. I designed touch-screen interface for user convenience.

  • Voice Command systems are important means of ensuring accessibility to digital devices for use in situations where both hands are not free or for people with disabilities. Interests in services using speech recognition technology have been increasing. In this study, we developed a mobile writing application using voice recognition and voice command technology which helps people create and edit documents easily. This application is characterized by the minimization of the touch on the screen and the writing of memo by voice. We have systematically designed a mode to distinguish voice writing and voice command so that the writing and execution system can be used simultaneously in one voice interface. It provides a shortcut function that can control the cursor by voice, which makes document editing as convenient as possible. This allows people to conveniently access writing applications by voice under both physical and environmental constraints.

  • Recently, to accelerate the Ubiquitous generation, the input interface of the mobile machinery and tools are actively being researched. In addition with the existing interfaces such as the keyboard and curser (mouse), other subdivisions including the handwriting, voice, vision, and touch are under research for new interfaces. Especially in the case of small-sized mobile machinery and tools, there is a increasing need for an efficient input interface despite the small screens. This is because, additional installment of other devices are strictly limited due to its size. Previous studies on handwriting recognition have generally been based on either two-dimensional images or algorithms which identify handwritten data inserted through vectors. Futhermore, previous studies have only focused on how to enhance the accuracy of the handwriting recognition algorithms. However, a problem arisen is that when an actual handwriting is inserted, the user must select the classification of their characters (e.g Upper or lower case English, Hangul - Korean alphabet, numbers). To solve the given problem, the current study presents a system which distinguishes different languages by analyzing the form/shape of inserted handwritten characters. The proposed technique has treated the handwritten data as sets of vector units. By analyzing the correlation and directivity of each vector units, a more efficient language distinguishing system has been made possible.
