  • This study was conducted to investigate the intake status of beverages and water in Korean adults using data from the 8th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The 'total water' intake was 2,250.6 g for men and 1,871.2 g for women. Men and women consumed an average of 314.9 g of 'total beverages', of which 'coffee' was the largest at 107.5 g, followed by 'others'(65.4 g), 'milk' (44.8 g), 'soda' (44.1 g), 'teas' (20.9 g), and 'fruits and vegetables' (18.5 g). The intake of 'plain water' was 1,059.9 g, and the intake of 'water from food' consumed was 547.3 g. The 'total water' intake decreased with increasing age in males and females (p<0.001). Both men and women showed a tendency toward increased 'total water' intake as income levels increased. 'Plain water' intake accounted for 51.4% of the 'total water' intake in males and females. The intake of all nutrients significantly increased from the Q1 group to the Q4 group by quartile ranges of total water intake. The results of this study showed that the intake of healthy water should be considered, and care and educational programs are needed, especially for older people, to ensure adequate water intake.

  • A spectral line survey is performed from 159.7 to 164.7 GHz toward Orion-KL, as an extension of our previous line survey from 138.3 to 150.7 GHz with the same 14 m radio telescope of Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. Typical system temperatures were 260 - 1000 K to achieve a sensitivity of about 0.02 - 0.04 K in TA unit. A total of 63 line spectra are detected in this survey. Among them, 54 lines lines are found to be the first detections towards an astronomical source and only 9 spectral lines have been previously identified from other observations. Forty-eight of 54 lines are believed to be from the known transitions of the known molecules, while 6 lines are 'unidentified'. All detected lines are found to be from a total of 10 molecular species and their isotopic variants. The molecular species with most numerous detected transitions are HCOOCH3 (22), followed by CH3OCH3 (7), C2H5CN (7), and SO2 (6). The LTE rotation diagram analysis using all homogeneous data with those from previous survey gives more reliable determination of physical quantities. The derived values of the rotation temperatures and column densities for HCOOCH3, CH3OCH3, and SO2 are are 75 \~ 197 K and 1.5\~18×1015cm2, respectively.

  • This study attempted to estimating economic value of environmental resource by using the contingent valuation method(CVM), known as one of the tool measuring the economic benefits. To analysis the preservation value of Bong-seo Mt.. the surveys were conducted for citizens resident in Cheonan city. The sample sizes of the survey were 200 respectively. The survey method adopted face-to-face interview method as a mean of correcting useful response. This study considers models for evaluating the willingness to pay(WTP) based on payment card contingent valuation survey data and has attempted to measure goodness of fit for the data obtained from the survey design. It was estimated that the average WTP of Cheonan citizens for a maintenance and management of Bong-seo Mt. was 5,010 won per month and 60 ,118 won per year. When it is translated by total number of households in Cheonan city, there is the preservation value of approximately 8.8 billion won per year. On the other hand, total expense of development increased about 1.7 times over including application of the preservation value.

  • The building boundary should be registered in the cadastral map for the protection of property using the expansion of the registration items in the cadastral record and the construction of 3D-cadastral information system. In this study, the efficiency of registering the building boundary was suggested by non-target TS survey through the comparison between target TS and non-target TS survey about an accuracy and efficiency. At the result of this research, the RMSE of target TS and non-target TS survey is the X; ±0.056m and Y; ±0.043m. Therefore, non-target TS survey shows the high accuracy. Also, the non-target TS survey is more efficient cost on time and personnel than target TS.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to estimate average total fat and fatty acid intakes as well as identify major food sources using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) VI-1 (2013). SUBJECTS/METHODS: Total fat and fatty acid intakes were estimated using 24-hour dietary recall data on 7,048 participants aged 3years from the KNHANES VI-1 (2013). Data included total fat, saturated fatty acid (SFA), monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA), polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), n-3 fatty acid (n-3 FA), and n-6 fatty acid (n-6 FA) levels. Population means and standard errors of the mean were weighted in order to produce national estimates and separated based on sex, age, income, as well as residential region. Major food sources of fat, SFA, MUFA, PUFA, n-3 FA, and n-6 FA were identified based on mean consumption amounts of fat and fatty acids in each food. RESULTS: The mean intake of total fat was 48.0 g while mean intakes of SFA, MUFA, PUFA, n-3 FA, and n-6 FA were 14.4 g, 15.3 g, 11.6 g, 1.6 g, and 10.1 g, respectively. Intakes of MUFA and SFA were each higher than that of PUFA in all age groups. Pork was the major source of total fat, SFA, and MUFA, and soybean oil was the major source of PUFA. Milk and pork were major sources of SFA in subjects aged 3-11 years and 12years, respectively. Perilla seed oil and soybean oil were main sources of n-3 FA in subjects aged 50years and aged < 50 years, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Estimation of mean fatty acid intakes of this study using nationally represented samples of the Korean population could be useful for developing and evaluating national nutritional policies.

  • Current surveying and spatial information technology incorporates information and communication technology and is user friendly. However, it is not convenient to use in the field because a connection to a computer, such as a laptop, tablet PC, or desktop PC, is needed to obtain the survey results and the coordinates of the surveyed points. To solve this problem, we developed an app that can display surveyed data on a map and the current survey results through a connection between a total station and smartphone using a Bluetooth wireless communication device. The app allows users to perform field work simultaneously with office work in the field, because it consists of Bluetooth, closed traverse survey, current status survey, and coordinate conversion modules. The proposed app should increase user convenience and the operational capability of the total station in the field.

  • A field survey was performed at the Human-made Wetlands along Boknaecheon of Juam Lake from March 2004 to October 2007 for the purpose of investigating changes of flora for 4 years since its creation. A total of 15 species including 10 families, 13 genera, 12 species and 3 varieties were planted at the Human-made Wetlands along Boknaecheon of Juam Lake which was completed in December 2002. The survey conducted in 2004, 15 months after creation of the Human-made Wetlands, revealed a flora composed of 47 families, 102 genera, 112 species and 19 varieties, 131 taxa in total. In 2007, further increase was registered with 46 species added compared to 2004 reaching 177 species in total. A 4-year monitoring of naturalized plants showed that no quick but constant increase was featured yearly in their number of species with 12 in 2004, 17 in 2005, 18 in 2006 and 19 in 2007. As for changes in life form, 13 species of perennial plants and 2 woody species, 15 in total, were planted initially but, in the survey 2004, 1- or 2-year old therophytes numbered 73, perennial plants 54 and woody species 4, indicating a large change of life form accompanied with increase in overall number of species. The number of 1- or 2-year old therophytes and perennial plants featured a steady increase each year from 2005 to 2007. The distribution ratio of 1- or 2-year old therophytes, however, showed a gradually decreasing tendency while perennial plants tended to increase, instead. As evidenced in changes of flora at the Human-made Wetlands, most of species in it have been determined to be fit or not within 1 to 2 years after its creation and, since the stable settlement of these species onward, its life forms have undergone stepwise changes together with the number of species and individuals in parallel with repeated extinction and penetration of plants.

  • This study was conducted to know the characteristics of agricultural non-point source pollutants runoff by rainfall events at the upper catchment of Goseong reservoir in Gonjy city, Chungnam Province. For this study, the monitoring sites of the research catchment were set nineteen during the research period (between June 2005 and October 2006). Average runoff coefficient were observed 0.51 in 2005, 0.71 in 2006, respectively. The correlation coefficient (r) between the rainfall and peak-flow was investigated 0.787. By rainfall events, the water quality of the sites were shown like this : BOD 0.555~9.60 mg/L, T-N 0.01~13.50 mg/L, T-P 0.002~2.952 mg/L, and SS N.D~820.0 mg/L. The strong rainfall intensity was the most important factor of the soil erosion. The gabs of the arithmetic mean concentrations and the flow weighted mean concentrations were observed as the followings : BOD 0.0~29.2%, T-N 0.1~11.4%, T-P 0.4~95.2%, and SS 1.7~57.0% in 2005, and BOD 1.0~11.9%, T-N 0.7~7.3%, T-P 9.9~36.5%, and SS 6.6~36.5% in 2006, respectively. The BOD pollution load was 2,117 kg (36% of the total BOD loading of survey periods) while, T-N was 3,209.0 kg (27.9% of the total T-N loading of survey periods), T-P was 136.4 kg (37.4% of the total T-P loading of survey periods) and SS was 72,733.8 kg (51.8% of the total SS loading of survey periods) in the year 2005. In case of 2006, BOD load was 1,321.7, T-N was 2,845.8, T-P was 42.9, and SS was 16,275.8 kg, respectively.
