Contact tips are required to have a higher resistance to wear and thus to have an extended life time under the advanced GMAW welding process. Several requirements have been specified and employed by domestic industries for selecting their tips for such a purpose. However no attempt has been made to justify their requirements based on the experimental data of wear resistance or life time of contact tips. In this study, five different contact tips with three different compositions were employed for actual GMA welding up to 4 hours and were evaluated their wear resistance by measuring in every one hour the area of enlarged hole at the exit side. Experimental results clearly showed that the Cr-containing tips strengthened by precipitation hardening have much better resistance to wear than those made by work hardening. It was further noticed that Cr is an excellent alloying element for improving the wear resistance of contact tips only when it is in an properly aged condition. Initial hardness may play some role in the early stage of wear but not in the later stage of welding because the microstructure of tip changes significantly by the prolonged exposure to welding arc heat. Based on these results, critical review has been made on the current requirements employed by domestic industries. Of importance is that a new guideline has been confirmed to be more reasonable.

The typical method for performing an absolute radiometric calibration of a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) System is to analyze its response, without interference, to a target with a known Radar Cross Section (RCS). To minimize interference, an error-free calibration site for a Corner Reflector (CR) is required on a wide and flat plain or on an area without disturbance sources (such as ground objects). However, in reality, due to expense and lack of availability for long periods, it is difficult to identify such a site. An alternative solution is the use of a Triangular Trihedral Corner Reflector (TTCR) site, with a surrounding protection wall consisting of berms and a hollow. It is possible in this scenario, to create the minimum criteria for an effectively error-free site involving a conventional object-tip reflection applied to all beams. Sidelobe interference by the berm is considered to be the major disturbance factor. Total interference, including an object-tip reflection and a sidelobe interference, is analyzed experimentally with SAR images. The results provide a new guideline for the minimum criteria of TTCR site design that require, at least, the removal of all ground objects within the fifth sidelobe.
As a display becomes large recently, Acquisition of high luminance and Luminance uniformity is becoming difficult in the existing CCFL or EEFL backlight system. So, study for a performance enhancement has enforced. but lamp development of flat type is asked for high luminance and a luminance uniformity security in of LCD and area anger trend ultimately. In this paper, we changed a tip shape of an electrode for production by the most suitable LCD backlight surface light source, and confirmed discharge characteristic along discharge gas pressure and voltage, and confirmed electric field distribution and discharge energy characteristic through a Maxwell 2D simulation. The objective of this work is to analyze the macroscopic behavior of spray and injection characteristics on the DME blended biodiesel at different mixing ratios by using spray visualization and injection rate measurement system. The spray images were analyzed to a spray tip penetration, a spray cone angle and a spray area distribution at various mixing ratio of DME by weight. The influence of different injection pressure and ambient pressure on the fuel spray characteristics are investigated for the various injection parameters. In order to analyze the injection characteristics of test fuels, the fuel injection rate is measured at various blending ratio. The variation of viscosity of the blended fuel by the mixing of DME fuel shows the improved effect of spray developments. Also, it was found that the injection quantities of high blended ratio were larger than that of lower blended fuel. Also, higher blending fuel showed a faster evaporation than that of mixing ratio of test fuel because kinetic viscosity was changed by blending ratio.
Some of gas turbine model of 7F-Class has constructed and is operating with units domestically. Non-destructive testing (NDT) is one of the methods being used to inspect damage $1^{st}$ stage bucket and review damage trends. We also analyze damage configuration and microstructure according to material and compare with pape of electric power research institute (EPRI). The damaged mode could be determined by leveraging failure analysis. Especially, configuration uprate of bucket is not only to prevent damage during operation but also avoid domestic manufacturing by the competitors. Modifications were mainly concentrated on surfaces such as cooling hole and bucket tips. Analyzing of bucket damage, the earlier model of 7F-Class used with one cycle with equivalent operation hour (EOH), has various cracking of the bucket surface. Bucket damage of new model is centered on tip area (54%) as analyzed by EPRI research. We conclude that improving bucket configuration would increase repair rate on the bucket tip.
Vortex-induced vibration and instability vibration of tall buildings are very important fluid-structure interaction phenomenon, and many fundamental questions concerning the influence of body movement on the unsteady aerodynamic force remain unanswered. For tall buildings, there are two experimental methods to investigate the characteristics of unsteady aerodynamic forces, one is forced vibration method and the other is free vibration method. In the present paper, a free vibration method was used to investigate the unsteady aerodynamic force on tall building whose aspect ratio is 9 under boundary layer simulating city area. Wind pressures on surfaces and tip displacements were measured simultaneously, and the characteristics of tip displacements and generalized forces were discussed. It was found that variation of across-wind displacements showed different trend between the case when wind speed increases and wind speed decreases, and the fluctuating generalize forces in across-wind direction of vibrating model are larger than that of static model near the resonant wind speed and approach to the static value. And for higher wind speed range, there were two peaks in across-wind power spectra of generalize forces of vibrating model, which means that two frequency components are predominant in unsteady aerodynamic forces.

Recently, we have developed the local oxidization and hydrogenization method for graphene layer using atomic force microscope(AFM) tip at room temperature and ambient pressure. With this method we could create locally oxidized or hydrogenized area on the graphene layer with various size from nanometer to micrometer scale, by controlling the amplitude and polarity of the voltage supplied between conducting AFM tip and the graphene layer. We investigated the chemical states of functionalized C atoms in the graphene layer using scanning photoelectron microscopy. By measuring C 1s core level X-ray Photoemission Spectra of the C atoms and suitable fitting process carried on the measured spectra, we could obtain the fraction of oxidization and hydrogenization under various condition, and the evolution of each chemical state during thermal annealing process.
