GROUND TRACK ACQUISITION AND MAINTENANCE MANEUVER MODELING FOR LOW-EARTH ORBIT SATELLITE

  • This paper presents a comprehensive analytical approach for determining key maneuver parameters associated with the acquisition and maintenance of the ground track for a low-earth orbit. A livearized model relating changes in the drift rate of the ground track directly to changes in the orbital semi-major axis is also developed. The effect of terrestrial atmospheric drag on the semi-major axis is also explored, being quantified through an analytical expression for the decay rate as a function of density. The non-singular Lagrange planetary equations, further simplified for nearly circular orbits, provide the desired relationships between the corrective in-plane impulsive velocity increments and the corresponding effects on the orbit elements. The resulting solution strategy offers excellent insight into the dynamics affecting the timing, magnitude, and frequency of these maneuvers. Simulations are executed for the ground track acquisition and maintenance maneuver as a pre-flight planning and analysis.

  • All image data acquisition systems for example the digital camera and digital camcorder, use the image sensor to convert the image data (light) into electronic data. These image sensors are used in satellite camera for high quality and resolution image data. There are two kinds of image sensors, the one is the CCD (charge coupled device) detector sensor and the other is the CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor. The CCD sensor control system has more complex than the CMOS sensor control system. For the high quality image data on CCD sensor, the precise timing control signal and the several voltage sources are needed in the control system. In this paper, the comparison of the CCD with CMOS sensor, the CCD sensor characteristic, and the control system will be described.

  • A glass transfer robot is used for handling LCDs in the production line of flat panel displays under clean environments. During glass transfer operations of the robot, chattering phenomenon occurs at the robot hand. This deteriorates the accuracy and repeatability of the end-effector of the robot. In this paper, we present the kinematic solution of the robot and then analyze the cause of this chattering phenomenon in view of the mechanism and servo control and propose a practical solution that can reduce the chattering significantly at the robot hand of the glass transfer robot.

  • The trend towards forming economic blocs coupled with global economic arrangements such as DDA and FTA increase pressure on the liberalization of the agricultural sector. South Korea is taking part in the DDA negotiations. Once the DDA negotiations are implemented, the extent of liberation of the agricultural market is expected to be wider and timing of market opening is sooner than those effects of the UR agricultural agreement. A reduction in tariff rates and the government subsidy will follow, accordingly. However, many analysts in the agricultural sector express deep concern over a negative development in local agricultural market as demonstrated in China where the local market was dominated by imported agricultural products. This study aimed to investigate progress that China made in favor of the agricultural industry, including environment-friendly agricultural policy, and suggest ideas to drive the development of the agricultural industry in a better direction in Korea by comparing the two countries.

가솔린-에탄을 혼합연료 사용시의 MPI 가솔린 기관의 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Performance of the MPI Gasoline Engine with Gasoline-Ethanol Blends)

  • The effect of ethanol-blending on the performances of the MPI gasoline engine was examined. The experiments were carried out for the stoichiometric conditions under MBT spark timing over various operating conditions. The blending rate of ethanol were determined as 10 to 30 percent according to the analysis of the properties of blended fuels. The engine with ethanol-blended fuels showed improved performances such as brake torque, brake power, brake thermal efficiency and exhaust emissions compared with those of pure gasoline over most operating conditions. Though the brake specific fuel consumption was increased by ethanol-blending due to their lower heating values, the increasing rates of the brake specific fuel consumption were limited to the half of the blending rates owing to the increase in the thermal efficiency.

  • The primary purpose of this study was to analyze the types of home managers in association with effects of resourcefulness, communication and the conditions for effective home management' proposed by Shape and Winter(1991). A survey was conducted by subjects of 300 wives in Kwangju city. The statistical data were obtained by cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan's test and chi-square test. Manager types based on the four conditions, resourcefulness and communication were classified into four clusters. Educational background, job status, family types, family life cycle and age difference between the oldest and the youngest child of the subjects were different from manager types. In conclusion, this study identified the four conditions of performance-condition dichotomy, timing, high level and middle range, resourcefulness, and communications in order to develop managerial capability.   • It is necessary to discuss lightening engine parts and reducing the friction of sliding parts to improve fuel consumption and combustion stability at idling condition. Lean best torque combustion which produce maximum power at a lean air-fuel ratio is effective for the reduction of exhaust gas emission and the improvement of fuel consumption. Accordingly, this study deals with the expansion of lean combustible limitation, the combustion stability and the reduction of idle speed through the analysis of combustion characteristics on the base of the control technique of precise air-fuel ratio because it does not need to maximum power at idling condition. The idle speed is increased proportional to ISC(Idle Speed Control) duty ratio. On the other hand the idle speed decreased by lean air-fuel ratio. The COV in engine speed is stable within maximum two percent up to 17.6 mixture ratio by the control of ISC duty ratio.

스파크점화 기관의 노킹측정에 관한 연구 (A study on spark-ignition engine knock measurements)

  • Spart-ignition engine knock is an abnormal combustion phenomenon originated from auto- ignition of a portion of or the entire end-gas during the later stage of combustion process. And engine knock is accompanied by a vibration of engine cylinder block and a high-pitched metallic noise. Engine knock is characterized in terms of its intensity, its occurrence crank angel and the percentage of engine knock cycles. To characterize engine knock, a precise measurements of cylinder pressure and a statistical analysis of cylinder pressure data are needed. The purpose of this study is to develope a technique to measure engine knock and its characteristics as a function of ignition timing change. A 4-cylinder spark-ignition engine and unleaded gasoline, whose octane number was 94, were used for experiments. To measure engine knock and to analyze engine knock characteristics, cylinder pressure data were sampled by a high speed data acquisition system which was developed in this study. Cylinder pressure data were sampled at each 0.1.deg. crank angle and the number of cycles continuously sampled was 80.

LOW PRESSURE LOOP EGR SYSTEM ANALYSIS USING SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION IN HEAVY-DUTY DIESEL ENGINE

  • EGR(Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems are extensively used to reduce NOx emissions in light duty diesel engine but its application to heavy duty diesel engines is yet to be widely implemented. In this study, the simulation model for a EURO 3 engine was developed using WAVE and then its performance and emission levels were verified with experimental results. The possibility of operating a EURO 3 engine with LPL EGR system to satisfy the EURO 4 regulation was investigated. Each component of the engine was modeled using CATIA and WaveMesher. The engine test mode was ESC 13, and the injection timing and fuel quantity were changed to compensate for the reduction of engine power caused by applying EGR. As a result of the simulation, it was found that EURO 4 NOx regulation could be satisfied by applying an LPL EGR system to the current EURO 3 engine.

  • For the concrete construction, finishing process is inevitable for crack control and improving permeability. The finishing process is closely related with setting time, but currently, the timing of the finishing process is not managed with scientifically but feeling of the workers. In this research, therefore, by comparing with the setting time measured with penetrating method, the feasibility of durometer for measuring setting time was analyzed. As a result, there was a high relationship between setting time measured with penetration method and durometer. Therefore, it is expected that using durometer can be a good solution for assessing setting time for finishing process.
