  • This paper presents inventory models for fresh agriculture products with time-varying deterioration rate. Due to the particularity of fresh agriculture products, the demand rate is a function that depends on sale price and freshness. The deterioration rate increases with time and is assumed to be a time-varying function. In the models, the inventory cycle may be constant or variable. The optimal solutions of models are discussed for different freshness and the deterioration rate. The results of experiments show that the profit depends on the freshness and deterioration rate of products. With the increasing inventory cycle, the sale price and profit increase at first and then start decreasing. Furthermore, when the inventory cycle is variable, the total profit is a binary function of the sale price and inventory cycle. There exist unique sale price and inventory cycle such that the profit is optimal. The results also show that the optimal sale price and inventory cycle depend on the freshness and the deterioration rate of fresh agriculture products.

  • An important use of data warehousing is to provide temporal views over the history of source data. It is significant that nearly all data warehouses are dependent on relational database technology, yet relational databases provide little or no real support for temporal data. Therefore, in is difficult to obtain accurate information for time-varying data. In this paper, we are going to design a temporal data warehouse to support time-varying data efficiently. For this purpose, we present a method to support temporal query by combining a temporal query process layer with the relational database which is used as a source database in an existing data warehouse. We introduce the Temporal Aggregate Tree Strategy (TATS), and suggest its algorithm for the way to aggregate the time-varying data that is changed by the time when the temporal view is created. In addition, The TATS and the materialized view creation method of the existing data warehouse have been evaluated. As a result, the TATS reduces the size of the fact table and it shows a good performance for the comparison factor in case of processing the query for time-varying data.

  • The conventional geographic information systems(GIS) is a software which handles spatial and aspatial information of objects in the real world. The system can not support users time-varying information because it manipulates their snapshot data in the spatial database. Also even though it supports time-varying information, it is very limited and hs many difficulties in presenting and processing queries. This paper therefore describes an integrated spatiotemporal data model using loosely-coupled approach which is extended a time dimension for the previous spatial database and which handles time-varying historical information of spatial objects. Conclusionally this paper not only designed a data structure for spatiotemporal database, but also implemented spatial comparison operations varying over time.

  • This paper is concerned with H$_{\infty}$ controller design methods for descriptor systems with and without time-varying delays in state and control input. The sufficient condition for the existence of an H$_{\infty}$ controller and the controller design method are presented by linear matrix inequality (LMI), singular value decomposition, Schur complements, and changes of variables. Since the obtained sufficient condition can be changed to an LMI form by proper manipulations, all solutions including controller gain can be obtained at the same time. Moreover, it is shown that robust H$_{\infty}$ controller design problem for parameter uncertain descriptor systems with time-varying delays in state and control input can be solvable using the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we present a new time-varying sliding surface to achieve fast and robust tracking of higher-order uncertain systems. The surface passes through an initial error, and afterwards, it moves towards a predetermined target surface by means of a variable named by sliding surface gain and its intercept. Specifically, the sliding surface gain is determined so that its initial value can minimize a shifting distance of the surface and that the system roots in sliding mode can follow certain stable trajectories. The designed sliding mode control forces the system errors to stay always on the proposed surface from the beginning. By this means, the system remains insensitive to system uncertainties and disturbances for the whole time. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the comparative study with conventional time-invariant sliding mode control is performed.

  • The vehicle routing problem with time-varying speed(VRPTVS) is difficult to handle with regular problem solving approaches. An approach by partitioning the service zone into three sub-zones to reduce computing time and vehicle traveling distance is suggested in this paper. To develop a partitioning algorithm for VRPTVS, all customer locations are divided into two sections such as morning zone and evening zone, excluding daytime zone. And then each service zone is calculated to find a possible number of delivery points and chosen by time window having more number of possible delivery points by considering customer location and varying speeds. A temporary complete route that can serve all target points is developed by this procedure and a pairwise exchange method is applied to reduce the traveling time.

  • Recurrent gap times are analyzed with diverse methods under several assumptions such as a marginal model or a frailty model. Several resampling techniques have been recently suggested to estimate the covariate effect; however, these approaches can be applied with a time-fixed covariate. According to simulation results, these methods result in biased estimates for a time-varying covariate which is often observed in a longitudinal study. In this paper, we extend a resampling method by incorporating new weights and sampling scheme. Simulation studies are performed to compare the suggested method with previous resampling methods. The proposed method is applied to estimate the effect of an educational program on traffic conviction data where a program participation occurs in the middle of the study.

  • This paper suggests a revision method for historical fault data using Proportional Aging Reduction(PAR) to consider maintenance effect in time-varying failure rate. In order to product time-varying failure rate, the historical fault data are necessary. However, the maintenance record could be left out in historical data by spot operator's mistake. In this case, the failure rate is produced less than the average failure rate for increasing equipments' life-time by maintenance effect. Hence, it is necessary for new time-varying failure rate to extract maintenance effect from the existing fault data. In this paper, the revision method to reduce equipments' life-time, adversely using PAR among three techniques to consider maintenance effect.

  • This paper considers a design problem of the repetitive control system for linear systems with time-varying norm bounded uncertainties. Using the Lyapunov functional for time-delay systems, a sufficient condition ensuring robust stability of the repetitive control system is derived in terms of an algebraic Riccati inequality (ARI) or a linear matrix inequality (LMI). Based on the derived condition, we show that the repetitive controller design problem can be reformulated as an optimization problem with an LMI constraint on the free parameter.

  • This paper presents an H$\infty$ controller design method for linear systems with time-varying delayed states, inputs, and measurement outputs. Using a Lyapounov unctional , the stability for delay systems is discussed independently of time delays . And a sufficient condition for the existence of H$\infty$ controllers of n-th order is given in terms of three matrix inequalities. Based on the positive-definite solutions of their matrix inequalities, we briefly explain how to construct H$\infty$ construct H$\infty$ controller, which stabilizes time-delay systems independently of delays and guarantees an H$\infty$ norm bound.
