In this paper, we discuss real-time control of networked control systems (NCSs) and practical issues in the choice of the communication networks for this purpose. An appropriate integration of control systems, real-time environments, and network communication systems allows the optimization of the quality-of-control (QoC) in NCSs. We compare several prevailing network types that may be used in control applications to offer a guideline of choosing a proper network. A real-time operating environment is also presented as an important ingredient of NCS design. To evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness, a real-time NCS containing a ball magnetic levitation (Maglev) setup is implemented via an Ethernet. Based on the experimental results, it is concluded in this paper that real-time control via Ethernet is a practical and feasible solution to NCS design.
In this paper, design approach of PID controller with rejection function against external disturbance in motor control system is proposed using bacterial foraging based optimal algorithm. Up to the present time, PID Controller has been used to operate for AC motor drive because of its implementational advantages in practice and simple structure. However, it is not easy to achieve an optimal PID gain with no experience, since the gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error in the industrial system with disturbance. To design disturbance rejection tuning, disturbance rejection conditions based on $H_{\infty}$ are illustrated and the performance of response based on the bacterial foraging is computed for the designed PID controller as ITSE (Integral of time weighted squared error). Hence, parameters of PID controller are selected by bacterial foraging based optimal algorithm to obtain the required response

Time delay control(TDC) law has been recently suggested as an effective control technique for nonlinear time-varying systems with uncertain dynamics and/or unpredictable disturbances. This paper focuses on the applications of the TDC algorithm to torque control of an engine system and speed control of an engine/automatic transmission system. Through the stability analysis of the engien system based on TDC, determination of the appropriate time delay and control factor is investigated. It was revealed that the size of time delay of the TDC law should be greater than that of transport delay of the system for both stability and better control performance. Simulation and experimental results for the engine torque control and engine/automatic transmission speed control systems show both relatively good command following and disturbance rejection properties. However, TDC controller shows rather slow responses when applied to the system with large transport delay.
A real time process control package was developed in an INTEL 80386 based PC and MS OS/2 environment using MS-C and MS-FORTRAN. RTACS(Real Time Advanced Control System), process control computer software for distributed or centralized architectures, is a package which meets functional requirements specified for typical continuous process applications like chemical processes. The package consists of 5 parts, which are DB(data base), OCF(Operator Console Functions), CL (Control logic Library), MSM(Multitasking and Scheduling, Manager) and UAI(User Applications Interface), based upon a table and function block architecture to improve the system performance.

For most of linear time-varying (LTV) systems, it is difficult to design time-varying controllers in analytic way. Accordingly, by approximating LTV systems as uncertain linear time-invariant, control design approaches such as robust control have been applied to the resulting uncertain LTI systems. In particular, a robust control method such as quantitative feedback theory (QFT) has an advantage of guaranteeing the frozen-time stability and the performance specification against plant parameter uncertainties. However, if these methods are applied to the approximated linear. time-invariant (LTI) plants with large uncertainty, the resulting control law becomes complicated and also may not become ineffective with faster dynamic behavior. In this paper, as a method to enhance the fast dynamic performance of LTV systems with bounded time-varying parameters, the approximated uncertainty of time-varying parameters are reduced by the proposed QFT parameter-scheduling control design based on radial basis function (RBF) networks.
This paper proposes a design method of PID controllers in the framework of a constrained optimization problem. Owing to the popularity for the controller's simplicity and robustness, a great deal of literature concerning PID control design has been published, which can be classified into frequency-based and time-based approaches. However, both approaches have to be considered together for a designed PID control to work well with a guaranteed closed-loop stability. For this purpose, a penalty function is formulated to satisfy both frequency- and time-domain specifications, and is minimized by a recet nonlinear optimization algorithm to attain optimal PID control gains. The proposed method is compared with Wang's and Ho's methods on a suite of example systems. Simulation results show that the PID control tuned by the proposed method improves time-domain performance without deteriorating closed-loop stability.

In this paper, we propose a systematic method for intelligent digital redesign of a fuzzy-model-based controller for continuous-time nonlinear system which may also contain system uncertainties. The continuous-time uncertain TS fuzzy model is first contructed to represent the uncertain nonlinear system. A parallel distributed compensation(PDC) technique is then used to design a fuzzy-model-based controller for both stabilization. The designed continuous-time controller is then converted to an equivalent discrete-time controller by using a globally intelligent digital redesign method. This new technique is designed by a global matching of state variables between analog control system and digital control system. This new design technique provides a systematic and effective framework for integration of the fuzzy-model-based control theory and the advanced digital redesign technique for nonlinear systems with uncertainties. Finally, Chaotic Lorenz system is used as an illustrative example to show the effectiveness and the feasibility of the developed design method.

This study proposes a new approach to Control the Orientation and position based on obstacle avoidance technology by multi sensors fusion and autonomous travelling control of mobile robot system for implimentation of Smart FA. The important focus is to control mobile robot based on by the multiple sensor module for autonomous travelling and obstacle avoidance of proposed mobile robot system, and the multiple sensor module is consit with sonar sensors, psd sensors, color recognition sensors, and position recognition sensors. Especially, it is proposed two points for the real time implementation of autonomous travelling control of mobile robot in limited manufacturing environments. One is on the development of the travelling trajectory control algorithm which obtain accurate and fast in considering any constraints. such as uncertain nonlinear dynamic effects. The other is on the real time implementation of obstacle avoidance and autonomous travelling control of mobile robot based on multiple sensors. The reliability of this study has been illustrated by the computer simulation and experiments for autonomous travelling control and obstacle avoidance.
The classical optimal control (COC) method has been widely used for linear quadratic regulator (LQR) problems of structural control. However, the equation of motion of the structure is incorporated into the optimization model as the constraint condition for the LQR problem, which needs to be solved through the Riccati equation under certain assumptions. In this study, an explicit optimal control (EOC) method is proposed based on the explicit time-domain method (ETDM). By use of the explicit formulation of structural responses, the LQR problem with the constraint of equation of motion can be transformed into an unconstrained optimization problem, and therefore the control law can be derived directly without solving the Riccati equation. To further optimize the weighting parameters adopted in the control law using the gradient-based optimization algorithm, the sensitivities of structural responses and control forces with respect to the weighting parameters are derived analytically based on the explicit expressions of dynamic responses of the controlled structure. Two numerical examples are investigated to demonstrate the feasibility of the EOC method and the optimization scheme for weighting parameters involved in the control law.
Bilateral teleoperation systems, connected to computer networks such as Internet have to deal with the time delay varying depending on factors such as congestion, bandwidth or distance. And the entire system is easy to become unstable due to irregular time delay. Passivity concept has been using as a framework to solve the stability problem in bilateral control of teleoperation. Acontrol scheme for teleoperation systems with varying time delay is proposed based on a passivity concept is proposed in this paper. One approach makinguse of the characteristic impedances is proposed to achieve a passive control. Since passive control does not mean that the system performance will be acceptable, another transmission scheme which focuses on both the passive feature and the acceptable performance is configured for varying time delay in this paper. The tracking performance has been proved through the computer simulation for varying time delay bilateral teleoperation system using Matlab Simulink.
