  • In this study, the effect of the time step specified in a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation on load response is analyzed and the drag coefficients of the floating body of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) are estimated. By evaluating the error in the FOWT load response and the change in the drag-coefficient values based on the density of the time intervals, this study aims to establish a time-interval setting that minimizes the time and cost of CFD simulations for selecting drag-coefficient values. Practical CFD utilization strategies necessary for the calibration of medium-to high-fidelity analysis tools are presented. Based on a comparative analysis of CFD simulations conducted at various time intervals, the results confirmed that under a certain time interval that sufficiently considers various factors, the accuracy of the FOWT response with respect to density shows minimal differences, thereby providing an efficient utilization method for CFD simulations in FOWT design and analysis.

  • We know that the Hurst Exponent (HE) is a real number in [0, 1] which denotes randomness of time series. in this research, we suggest non-linear analysis of human biological signals through HE. The feasibility of human biological signals using inductive incitement provides Some diagnosis for active treatment. In our experiment, we measured the heartbeat through the MCG, 29 healthy and 34 abnormal subjects ostensibly. The raw data of acupuncture incitement are supported by opinions of gross examination and pathological diagnosis. The mean values of HE are 0.345, 0.755 and 0.805 for the periods of before, during and after acupuncture treatment, respectively in case of abnormal subjects. On the other hand, the mean values, 0.808, 0.797 and 0.785 are for normal cases, correspondingly. From this data, we show that HE is very significant in abnormal controls according to an acupuncture incitement, and the incitement effect is evidently extracted in abnormal subjects. But, in normal subjects, the incitement effect is meaningless.

  • This paper presents a new temporal reasoning scheme based on explicit expression of time intervals. The proposed scheme deals with the general problem of temporal knowledge representation and temporal reasoning and may be used in rule-based systems and qualitative models. Time intervals, not time points, are defined in terms of orders and/or numbers in a quantity space. As a result, the system behavior is represented in the form of partially ordered networks. Such explicit and qualitative description of temporal quantities enables both reduction of ambiguity and parsimonious used of temporal information. Based on the proposed temporal reasoning scheme, a new rule-based qualitative simulation system is being built and evaluated.

  • This study was accomplished to get the basic data for the optimum chemical feed, evaluating interference between tastes and odors chemicals and coagulants in existing water treatment processes. During the tastes and odors occurs at D intaking tower area in 1995, PAC(Powdered Activated Carbon) feed with coagulants was PAC feed only and with coagulant simultaneously were appeared TON removal efficiency about 84%-87% within 20 min reaction time, but feed with time intervals was about 98% TON removal efficiency. Therefore in the case of PAC feed with coagulant, it is effective to feed coagulant on some time intervals in removing tastes and odors. It is not effective to feed PAC with chlorine dioxide($ClO_2$) or chlorine simultaneously in removing tastes and odors, because these chemicals were reduced the adsorption capacity of PAC.

  • Failure rate serves as a pivotal role in reliability study. Of all, the constant failure rate is the most popularly used in field exercises. In reality, however, the electrical and electronic parts' life is represented by not only the constant failure rate but the decreasing and/or increasing failure rates. Explicit consideration and incorporation of them into the model development may yield more desirable results. In this study, we built a reliability model for failure rates varying over time intervals and derived well known measures such as probability density function, reliability function, mean life, moments, and mission time. We then evaluated mean life with consideration of the first-year multiplier and compared the results those with constant failure rate. The results given in the study may provide a reference applying for practical decision making.

  • The objective of this study was to analyze time-dependent changes in bite marks on pig skin. Bite marks produced by the average bite force of adults were analyzed three-dimensionally for 3 hours directly after its formation, at 1-hour intervals. The measured values were calculated by root mean square (RMS) and statistically analyzed by one-way ANOVA test (α = 0.05). The average bite sizes were 0.899 mm, 0.717 mm and 0.506 mm at the first, second and third intervals, respectively, and were significantly different between the three intervals (P < 0.05). A bite mark showed time-dependent changes in the compression level, showing the greatest change in the first interval. Changes in bite marks decreased over time, and bite marks were observed most prominently generated by the anterior dentition.

  • Markov chain method to evaluate the properties of control charts with variable sampling intervals(VSI0 for simultaneously monitoring several correlated quality characteristics under multivariate normal process are investigated. For comparing the efficiencies and properties of multivariate control charts, we consider multivariate Shewhart, CUSUM and EWMA charts in terms of average time to signal(ATS) and average number of samples to signal(ANSS). We obtained stabilized numerical results with Markov chain method when the number of transient state is greater than 100.

  • We shall propose several estimators and confidence intervals for the scale parameter in a uniform distribution with the presence of a generalized uniform outlier and obtain mean squared errors(MSE) for their proposed estimators. And we shall compare numerical MSE's for the proposed several estimators of the scale parameter. Also we shall compare numerically expected lengths of confidence intervals of the scale parameter in a uniform distribution with the presence of a generalized uniform outlier.

  • Analysis for the file with distributed free space such as a VSAM has been done. Birth and death process has been adopted to describe the status changes of control intervals in a VSAM file. File utilization is calculated as a function of the number of control intervals which contain different number of records in them. Effect of the control interval sizes and the loading factors are analyzed over the time horizon.

  • A sequential procedure is proposed in order to construct one-sided confidence intervals for a normal mean with guaranteed coverage probability and ${\beta}-protection$ when the normal mean and variance are identical. First-order asymptotic properties on the sequential sample size are found. The derived results hold with uniformity in the total parameter space or its subsets.
