  • Differential detection schemes do not require any channel estimation, which can be employed under user mobility with low computational complexity. In this work, a soft-input soft-output (SISO) differential detection algorithm is proposed for amplify-and-forward (AF) over time-varying relaying channels based cooperative communications system. Furthermore, maximum-likelihood (ML) detector for M-ary differential Phase-shift keying (DPSK) is derived to calculate a posteriori probabilities (APP) of information bits. In addition, when the SISO is exploited in conjunction with channel decoding, iterative detection and decoding approach by exchanging extrinsic information with outer code is obtained. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed non-coherent approach improves detection performance significantly. In particular, the system can obtain greater performance gain under fast-fading channels.

  • In this paper, we present a non-fragile guaranteed cost control design method for uncertain nonlinear systems with time varying delays in state and control input, even though the controller gain is perturbed. The uncertain nonlinear term in the systems is norm bounded and the linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization method is employed as a stability analysis of the systems. We design a robust controller and show the asymptotical stability of uncertain time-varying systems based on Lyapunov method. Also, we guarantee a specific level of performance of the systems. The simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a method of hierarchical state estimation of the time-varying linear systems via Block-pulse function(BPF). When we estimate the state of the systems where noise is considered, it is very difficult to obtain the solutions because minimum error variance matrix having a form of matrix nonlinear differential equations is included in the filter gain calculation. Therefore, hierarchical approach is adapted to transpose matrix nonlinear differential equations to a sum of low order state space equation from and Block-pulse functions are used for solving each low order state space equation in the form of simple and recursive algebraic equation. We believe that presented methods are very attractive nd proper for state estimation of time-varying linear systems on account of its simplicity and computational convenience. • This paper describes a study on the time-varying control of parameters in learning of the neural network. Elman recurrent neural network (RNN) is used to implement the control of parameters. The parameters of learning and momentum rates In the error backpropagation algorithm ate updated at every iteration using fuzzy rules based on performance index. In addition, the gain and slope of the neuron's activation function are also considered time-varying parameters. These function parameters are updated using the gradient descent algorithm. Simulation results show that the auto-tuned learning algorithm results in faster convergence and lower system error than regular backpropagation in the system identification.

  • Increasing requirements for the high quality of industrial robot performance made the vibration control issue very important because the vibration makes it difficult to achieve quick response of robot motion and may bring mechanical damage to the robot. This paper presents a vibration control solution for industrial robots which have flexible joints. The joint flexibility is modeled as a two-mass system. And we analyze the vibration problem of a classical P-PI controller when it used for the flexible joints of industrial robots. Then a state feedback controller is designed for vibration suppression of the two-mass system. Finally, a gain-scheduling method is designed for maintaining control performance in spite of the time-varying nature of each joint's load side inertia. Simulation and experimental results show effective vibration suppression and uniform properties in overshoot in spite of the variation of load. The result of this study can be applied to the appropriate gain manipulation of many other mechatronic devices which have the two-mass system with varying load side inertia.

  • A new optimal state feedback and disturbance feedforward control design in the sense of minimizing $L_{2}-gain$ from disturbance to control output is proposed for disturbance attenuation of systems with bounded control input and measurable disturbance. The controller is derived in the framework of linear matrix inequality(LMI) optimization. A gain scheduled state feedback and disturbance feedforward control design is also suggested to improve disturbance attenuation performance. The control gains are scheduled according to the proximity to the origin of the state of the plant and the magnitude of disturbance. This procedure yields a stable linear time varying control structure that allows higher gain and hence higher performance controller as the state and the disturbance move closer to the origin. The main results give sufficient conditions for the satisfaction of a parameter-dependent performance measure, without violating the bounded control input condition.

  • This paper deals with asymptotic stabilization problems for linear systems with time-varying input disturbances. In order to eliminate the influence of a disturbance on the system, a disturbance observer is designed and the time-varying disturbance can be rejected using its estimated value. Since the disturbance observer is kind of low-pass filter, it has inevitably estimation errors. To eliminate the inflences on the performance due to these errors, the additional control is designed based on these estimation errors using a well-known min-max control method. It is shown that the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed. In general, the min-max control method requires the switching of control inputs and the switching magnitude of the control input is determined by the disturbance estimation error bounds. As the error bounds can be made arbitrarily small by choosing the high gain for the disturbance observer, the control method suggested in this paper can reduce the chattering phenomena as small as possible. Therefore, it has superior performance to the existing ones.

  • This paper focuses on the $H_{\infty}$ filter design problem for offshore steel jacket platforms. Its objective is to design a full-order state observer for offshore platforms in presence of unknown disturbances. To make the method more practical, it is assumed that the measured variables are available at discrete-time instants with time-varying sampling time intervals. By modelling the sampling intervals as a bounded time-varying delay, the estimation error system is expressed as a time-delay system. As a result, the addressed problem can be transformed to the problem of stability of dynamic error between the system and the state estimator. Then, based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii Functional (LKF), a stability criterion is obtained in the form of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). According to the stability criterion, a sufficient condition on designing the state estimator gain is obtained. In the end, the proposed method is applied to an offshore platform to show its effectiveness.

  • In this paper, observer-based H$\sub$$\infty$/ controller design method for singular systems with time-varying delay by Just one LMI condition is presented. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and the controller design method are presented by one perfect LMI approach. The design procedure involves solving an LMI. Since the obtained condition can be expressed as an LMI form, all variables including feedback gain and observer gain can be calculated simultaneously by Schur complement and changes of variables.
