  • Carbon-nitrogen (CN) nanofibers have been produced using a water cooled hot isostatic pressure (HIP) apparatus. The CN nanofibers were grown in random with the diameter of about 100-150nm and length over $10{\mu}m$. Emission properties of CN nanofibers were investigated for spacing, between anode and cathode, variation. Then turn-on fields about $1.4V/{\mu}m$. The time reliability and light emission test were carried out for above 100 hours. We suggest that CN nanofibers can be possibly applied to high brightness flat lamp because of low turn-on field and time reliability.

  • For stereo lithography process, accuracy of prototypes is related to laser power, scan speed, scan width, scan pattern, layer thickness, resin characteristics and etc. An accurate prototype is obtained by using appropriate process parameters. In order to determine these parameters, the stereolithography (SLA) machine using neural network was developed and efficiency of the developed SLA machine was compared with that of the traditional SLA. Optimum values for scan speed, hatching spacing and layer thickness improved the surface roughness and build time for the developed SLA.

  • In order to save time and efforts in generating finite element meshes in irregular houndaries of domains, it is needed to develop an automatic mesh-generator which can hoth promote the accuracy of solutions and reduce the run-time in operating finite ele- ment models. In this study, the advancing front technique of triangular mesh generation and the transforming technique from triangular meshes to quadrilateral meshes were used to de- velop a computer program for the automatic triangular and quadrilateral meshes in the mixed shape. Furthermore, to enhance the quadrilateral mesh quality, the techniques of Laplancian smoothing and interior mesh modification were employed. The mesh genera- tor was applied to evaluate its applicability to irregular and complex geometries such as Nakdong river bay. In has hoen shown that the automatic mesh generator developed is capable of automatically generating meshes for irreguiar and complex geometries with high qualities of meshes and with the simple input data of arbitrarily specified nodal spacing in bound- aries.

  • To solve the problem of unbalanced loads and the short network lifetime of heterogeneous wireless sensor networks, this paper proposes a node-selection algorithm based on energy balance and dynamic adjustment. The spacing and energy of the nodes are calculated according to the proximity to the network nodes and the characteristics of the link structure. The direction factor and the energy-adjustment factor are introduced to optimize the node-selection probability in order to realize the dynamic selection of network nodes. On this basis, the target path is selected by the relevance of the nodes, and nodes with insufficient energy values are excluded in real time by the establishment of the node-selection mechanism, which guarantees the normal operation of the network and a balanced energy consumption. Simulation results show that this algorithm can effectively extend the network lifetime, and it has better stability, higher accuracy, and an enhanced data-receiving rate in sufficient time.

  • The CN(carbon nitrogen) nanofibers were formed by HIP(high isostatic pressure) process. From the field emission measurement, CN nanofibers shows an excellent characteristics of emitter, better than CNTs and carbon nanofibers. The structures obtained can be divided into three groups : bamboo-like fibers, corrugated structures and bead necklace-like fib res. Emission properties of CN nanofibers were investigated for spacing, between anode and cathode, variation. Turn-on fields was 1.4 v/$\mu\textrm{m}$. The time reliability and light emission test were carried out for about 100 hours. We suggest that CN nanofibers can be possibly applied to the high brightness flat lamp because of low turn-on field and time reliability

  • In printed circuit board (PCB) design, it is necessary to predict the crosstalk effect among traces on the circuitary behavior. In this paper, crosstalk between parallel or crossing traces was treated by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. They are the typical models of PCB traces and the crosstalk is a major contributor in the creation of electromagnetic interference (EMI). The crosstalk effect was computed for the variation of distance spacing and length of parallel traces and crossing traces. The results in time and frequency domain are discussed and compared with those using MDS(microwave design system) and HFSS(high frequency structure simulator). The comparison shows that the FDTD method can be of wide application in analysis model and save the time required for calculation.

  • This work investigates Reynolds number Re (= 50 - 200) effects on the flows around a single cylinder and the two tandem (center-to-center spacing L= L/D = 4) cylinders, each of a diameter D. Vorticity structures, Strouhal numbers, and time-mean and fluctuating forces are presented and discussed. For the single cylinder, with increasing Re in the range examined, the vorticity magnitude, Strouhal number and fluctuating lift all monotonically rise but time-mean drag, vortex formation length, and lateral distance between the two rows of vortices all shrink. For the two tandem cylinders, the increase in Re leads to the formation of three distinct flows, namely reattachment flow (50 ≤ Re ≤ 75), transition flow (75 < Re < 100), and coshedding flow (100 ≤ Re ≤ 200). The reattachment flow at Re = 50 is steady. When Re is increased from 75 to 200, the Strouhal number of the two cylinders, jumping from 0.113 to 0.15 in the transition flow regime, swells to 0.188. The two-cylinder flow is more sensitive to Re than the single cylinder flow. Fluctuating lift is greater for the downstream cylinder than the upstream cylinder while time-mean drag is higher for the upstream cylinder than for the other. The time-mean drags of the upstream cylinder and single cylinder behaves similar to each other, both declining with increasing Re.

  • The mapping of the spin-spin relaxation time T2 in pixed-by-pixel was suggested as a quantitative diagnostic tool in medicine. Although the CPMG pulse sequence has been known to be the best pulse sequence for T2 measurement in physics NMR, the supplied pulse sequence by the manufacture of MRI system was able to obtain the maximum of 4 CPMG images. Eight or more images with different echo time TEs are required to construct a reliable T2 map, so that two or more acquisitions were required, which easily took more than 10 minutes. 4-echo CPMG imaging pulse sequence was modified to generate the maximum of 8 MR images with evenly spaced echo time TEs. In human MR imaging, since patients tend to move at least several pixels between the different acquisitions, 8-echo CPMG imaging sequence reduces the acquisition time and may remove any misregistration of each pixel's signal for the fitting T2. The resultant T2 maps using the theoretically simulated images and using the MR images of the human brain suggested that 8 echo CPMG sequence with short echo spacing such as 17∼20 msec can give the reliable T2 map.

  • In this paper an exciter which performs modulation and amplification is composed of high power(30dBm) VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) using push-pull circuit. Modulation is FSK using PLL(Phase Locked Loop). A single loop PLL synthesizer having sequency range of 42.5-100.5MHz, 25KHz channel spacing and switching time of 1msec converts down the exciter VCO frequency to 1.25MHz. This signal mixed with the FSK modulated signal coming in the phase detector of exciter. The acquisition time of exciter for frequency hoppng is less than 200usec, so the total acquisition time for transmission is less that 1.5msec. There is no need of additional power amplification because power amlifiction by high power VCO is high enough to communicate within near distance. The proposed frequency synthesizer is not complex so it is suitable for low cost slow frequency hopping spread spectrum communication.

  • The vibration problems associated with gear coupled rotors have been the focus of much engineering work. These systems are complex and difficult to analyze in that they have the problems associated with conventional rotors plus those additional problems associated with the gear couplings. This paper examines the problems peculiar to the gear mesh. Because of the meshing action of gears, the elasticity of the gear teeth introduces time-varying stiffness coefficients into the governing equations of motion. This means that system response must be thought of in terms of Mathieu-type equations, where multiple-frequency response occur due to the periodic coefficients. The meshing action of the gears also couples the lateral and torsional gear motions. Gear errors, such as tooth profile and spacing errors, produce forces and torque that excite the system at multiple frequencies, some of which are much higher than shaft rotational speed. To investigate how to the time-varying stiffness in the gear teeth and the gear errors act one the dynamic response of the gear coupled rotors, a three-dimensional dynamic model with lateral-tortional oscillation is developed. The harmonic balance technique is employed to solve this mathieu-type problem.
