A Study on Performance Characteristics for Auxiliary Converter of Korean High Speed Train (한국형 고속열차 보조컨버터 성능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • As the on-board electric devices determine the performances of vehicles, production of reliable devices is important. To keep the reliability of devices constant, management of performance evaluation of the on-board devices is crucial. Because temperature bas a serious effect on failures of the components of the devices, its measurement is the first step for good management. In this study, we described performance characteristics of domestic auxiliary block developed through G7 project. We measured the performances of auxiliary block during test running by the developed on-line measurement system. After we save the input real-time data from each signal of Korean High Speed Train through the network line, we can acquire necessary information through Post-Processing program. We verify the auxiliary converter characteristics of Korean High Speed Train by this system.

  • The purpose of this study was to make a survey of the operation of childcare facilities in rural regions through in-depth interviews with 5 facility principals. Owing to regional disadvantages, rural childcare facilities have many problems as follows: uneven distribution of facilities, shortage of teachers, financial difficulties, unsuitable programs for rural regions, insufficient reeducation of principals and teachers, and poor operations and accessibility for handicapped or very young children. The principals proposed that many conditions might be made better as follows: evenly distributing facilities in step with needs and supply, raising the salary of teachers of rural facilities, supporting the facilities themselves side by side with supporting children, improving 'childcare fee supporting system' of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, developing and spreading programs suitable for rural regions, and promoting the reeducation of principals and teachers through online programs.

  • Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dynamic matrix control (DMC) technique is applied to control steam temperatures in a large-scale ultrasupercritical once-through boiler-turbine system. Specifically, four output variables (i.e., outlet temperatures of platen superheater, finish superheater, primary reheater, and finish reheater) are controlled using four input variables (i.e., two spray valves, bypass valve, and damper). The step-response matrix for the MIMO DMC is constructed using the four input and the four output variables. Online optimization is performed for the MIMO DMC using the model predictive control technique. The MIMO DMC controller is implemented in a full-scope power plant simulator with satisfactory performance.

  • As one of the mission payloads to be verified through the cube satellite mission of Cube Laboratory for Space Technology Experimental Project (STEP Cube Lab), we developed a hinge driving separation nut-type holding and releasing mechanism. The mechanism offers advantages, such as a large holding capacity and negligible induced shock, although its activation principle is based on a nylon cable cutting mechanism triggered by a nichrome burn wire generally used for cube satellite applications for the purpose of holding and releasing onboard appendages owing to its simplicity and low cost. The basic characteristics of the mechanism have been measured through a release function test, static load test under qualification temperature limits, and shock measurement test. In addition, the structural safety and operational functionality of the mechanism module under launch and on-orbit environments have been successfully demonstrated through a vibration test and thermal vacuum test.

Preferential Sorption and Its Role on Pervaporation of Organic Liquid Mixtures

  • The unique feature of pervaporation is the mass transfer from a liquid phase to a vapor phase through a non-porous polymeric membrane. When a liquid mixture is brought into contact with a membrane at one side, it is sorbed into the membrane. Due to a driving force applied across the membrane, the sotbed liquid molecules permeate through the membrane and evaporate at the downstream side of the membrane. In pervaporation the permeated species are usually removed from the downstream side under a relatively low vapor pressure, for example by evacuation with a vacuum pump. As far as this condition is fulfilled, the evaporation step can be considered to be much faster than sorption or diffusion. Hence evaporation does not contribute to permselectivity. Therefore the separation by pervaporation results from the differences in the preferential sorption of the individual components of a mixture into the membrane together with the diffusion rates through the membrane. This postulation implies that both sorption and diffusion phenomena have to be accounted for to understand the physico-chemical nature of the pervaporation separation process.

  • Study was peformed to develop the‘environmental double pile’for the remediation of low-permeable contaminated soil. This technique is similar in function to‘sand drain pile’But this applies recyclable oyster shell treated as waste materials to a drain material and the pile is consisted of two layers. Inner metal pile is located in center and oyster shells are filled around it. By this technology, contaminated ground water is pumped out through the oyster shell and purified by drainage, adsorption, and reaction processes. Afterwards, the grout material is injected through the inner pile for the effect of the solidification / stabilization. As a result, the concept of this technique is a development of one-step process technology. Through the test, a consolidation characteristic by radial drain is going to be evaluated and the optimum standard of this technology will be calculated.

  • We can speak caption as information that can not except caption on sports video. The sports highlight were composed that we recognize captioning. This paper is the necessary work to the middle-step to analysis the caption through the retrieval and discrimination from the position of caption. This paper improve at first and simplify the image through the excellent threshold value algorithm in the preprocessing and then use method that can analysis caption through the multiplex frame merging algorithm. Its speed performing shows up higher and simplier than the region growing process.

  • The paper proposes the solar photovoltaic power generation system method for photovoltaic system to solve the power shortage due the sudden power demand. So that supplied electric power to system at appearance during surplus electric power minute and unit moment link driving with common use system is available, digital PLL circuit system voltage through composition and phase of solar photovoltatic power generation system to do synchronization do. Feed forward controller was applied to get fast current response Solar cell that is changed by solar radiation always kept the maximum output when it used Step up chopper. The dynamic character had checked through simulation used Matlab Sumulink and confirmed through an experiment.

A study on the Planning Element Utilization Method of Resident Participating Eco-Village (주민참여형 생태마을의 계획요소 활용 방법에 대한 연구)

  • This paper is intended to deduce the planning elements of Eco-village through theory contemplation and preceding researches in order to be used as practical data of resident participating Eco-village by contemplating characteristics demonstrated in planning element utilization methods within the village. Resident participating Eco-village aims for residents who will reside in the relevant village to participate from village plans to construction. Unlike other Eco-village, residents of resident participating Eco-village make decisions autonomically through planning direction, planning elements, discussions and meetings, which are uniquely distinctive from other Eco-villages. It appears, however, that analysis on the planning element utilization methods of resident participating Eco-village is inadequate. There are various methods of village resident participation, and the methods cannot rule out the close relationship with planning elements. Hence, programs for resident participation should be devised at the time of village planning. Resident participating Eco-village should suggest measures and guidelines through finding problems in order to implement sustainable and environment-friendly life that prevent a retrograde step.
