Design and Development of an Ultralow Optical Loss Mirror Coating for Zerodur Substrate

  • A high reflectance mirror, which has very low absorption and scattering loss, was coated onto a crystalline substrate by ion beam sputtering and then annealed at $450^{\circ}C$. We carefully selected the mirror coating material, and designed the high reflectance mirror, in order to avoid UV degradation which comes from the He-Ne plasma. We measured the surface roughness of the Zerodur substrate using phase shift interferometry and atomic force microscopy, and compared it with the TIS scattering of the mirror. The cavity ring-down method was used to measure the absorption of the mirror, and the thin film structure was correlated to its results. We also compared the optical properties of coated mirrors before and after annealing.

  • Testes from the allied rock wallaby(Petrogale assimilus) have been examined by the electron microscopy in thin sections in order to examine spermiogenesis and structure of spermatozoa. The spermiogenesis can be divided into nine stages: early Golgi, late Golgi, collapsing, nuclear protrusion, condensation and flattening, nuclear shaping, rotation, nuclear ring contraction, and maturation. The acrosome has been abruptly formed following the collapse of expanded acrosomal vesicle without the cap stage described in the eutheria. The flatly condensed nucleus rotates obliquely to the axis of the axial filament complex and the folded acrosome covers the anterior third of the dorsal nuclear surface forming a wide subacrosormal space as the nuclear ring has contracted. The Sertoli cell reaction and spur are prominent during the nuclear protrusion and rotation stages. A mature spermatozoon has S-shape head which has an extended part reaching to the vicinity of the middle piece.

  • We investigated a double ring resonator(DRR)device to improve the resonating Q value of a superconductor resonator. To make a DRR device, we made a large area YBCO film on a MgO substrate by pulsed laser deposition(PLD). Thetransition temperature was 88 K and the film was uniformly deposited. We also deposited 500$\AA$SrTiO$_{3}$on the YBCO thin film to protect the superconducting properties from degradation. The loaded Q value was measured as 50000 from simulation and as 2000 from experiment near 10GHz at 77K.

A study on patterning of photosensitive polyimide LB film (감광성 polyimide LB막의 pattern형성에 관한 연구)

  • Polyimides containing cyclobutane ring in main chain is known to be thermally stable and able to be developed in organic solvents after photolysis with 254 nm UV light. This type of polyimides can be used as promising positive photoresist in VLSI fabrication process. In the current VLSI process, photoresist films are formed by spin coating. The film thickness is more than several hundred nano meters. It seems that there is room for improvement of film coating process by introducing Langmuir Blodgett technique. Thereby ultra thin film photoresist can be formed, and higher density of integration in VLSI be achieved. In the present work, depositing procedure of LB films of this polyimide was investigated. LB film thickness was measured by ellipsometry to evaluate deposited film status. Chemical imidization procedure was studied to avoid several problems in thermal imidization. The pattern of submicron dimension has successfully formed on LB film of 8nm thick, which found showing good contrast.

Residual Stress Behavior and Characterization of Polyimide Crosslinked Networks via Ring-opening Metathesis Polymerization (개환 복분해 중합을 통한 가교형 폴리이미드 박막의 잔류응력 거동 및 특성 분석)

  • Crosslinked polyimides (PIs) were synthesized by reacting 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)-diphthalic anhydride (6FDA) and 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzidine (TFDB) with various ratios of the cross-linkable, end-capping agent cis-1,2,3,6-tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (CDBA) via ring-opening metathesis polymerization. Residual stress behaviors were investigated in-situ during thermal imidization of the crosslinked PI precursors using a thin film stress analyzer (TFSA) by wafer bending method. The thermal properties were investigated via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermomechanical analysis (TMA), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The optical properties were measured by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer (UV-vis) and spectrophotometry. All properties were interpreted with respect to their morphology of crosslinked networks. With increasing the amounts of the end-capping agent, the residual stress decreased from 27.9 to -1.3 MPa, exhibited ultra-low stress and high thermal properties. The minimized residual stress and enhanced thermal properties of the crosslinked PI makes them potential candidates for versatile high-density multi-layer structure applications.

  • In this presentation I will review the expanding thermal plasma chemical vapour deposition (ETP-CVD) technology, a deposition technology capable of reaching ultrahigh deposition rates. High rate deposition of a-Si:H, ${\mu}c$-Si:H, a-SiNx:H and silicon nanocrystals will be discussed and their various applications, mainly for photovoltaic applications demonstrated. An important aspect over the years has been the fundamental investigation of the growth mechanism of these films. The various in situ (plasma) and thin film diagnostics, such as Langmuir probes, retarding field analyzer, (appearance potential) mass spectrometry and cavity ring absorption spectroscopy, spectroscopic ellipsometry to name a few, which were successfully applied to measure radical and ion density, their temperature and kinetic energy and their reactivity with the growth surface. The insights gained in the growth mechanism provided routes to novel applications of the ETP-CVD technology, such as the ultrahigh high growth rate of silicon nanorystals and surface passivation of c-Si surfaces.

Shape Design Sensitivity Analysis for Stability of Elastic Structures (탄성 구조물의 안정성을 고려한 형상설계민감도해석)

  • This paper addresses the method for the shape design sensitivity analysis of the buckling load in the continuous elastic body. The sensitivity formula for critical load is analytically derived and expressed in terms of shape variation, based on the continuum formulation of the stability problem. Though the buckling problem is more efficiently solved by the structural elements such as beam and shell, the elastic solids are considered in this paper because the solid elements can be used in general for any kind of structures whether they are thick or thin. The initial stress and buckling analysis is carried out by the commercial analysis code ANSYS. The sensitivity is computed by using the mathematical package MATLAB using the results of ANSYS. Several problems including straight and curved beams under compressive load, ring under pressure load, thin-walled section and bottle shaped column are chosen to illustrate the efficiency of the presented method.

  • Organic semiconductors based on vacuum-deposited films of fused-ring polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon have great potential to be utilized as an active layer for electronic and optoelectronic devices. We have fabricated organic thin film transistors(OTFTs) and discuss electrical characteristics of the devices. For the gate dielectric layer, OPTMER PC403 photoacryl(JSR Co.) was spin-coated and cured at 220$^{\circ}C$. Electrical characteristics of the device were investigated, where the photoacryl dielectric layer thickness and pentacene active layer thickness were about 0.6$\mu\textrm{m}$ and 800${\AA}$.

  • This paper describes the fabrication process and electrical characteristics of PSA (Polysilicon Self-Align) bipolar transistors with a thin base width of 1100.angs.. To realize this shallow junction depth, one-step rapid thermal annealing(RTA) technology has been applied instead of conventional furnace annealing process. It has been shown that the series resistances and parasitic capacitances are significantly reduced in the device with emitter area of 1${\times}4{\mu}m^{2}$. The switching speed of 2.4ns/gate was obtained by measuring the minimum propagation delay time in the I$^{2}$L ring oscillator with 31 stages.
