  • Rate constants and activation parameters have been petermined for the chloride exchanges of benzyl chloride in 60, 70, 80 and 90 vol.% ethanol-water solutions. Results showed a good linearity when appiled to our general equation. The significance of this linear fit has been discussed in conjunction with the Dewar's relation which was derived from the PMO method.

  • Most segmented polyurethanes are prepared from a two-step method where the polyol is end-capped with an excess of diisocyanate, followed by chain extension with stoichiometric amount of chain extender, In the final polymer the hard and soft segments tend to segregate, due to thermodynamic immiscibility and the differences in chemical structure between hard and soft segments, and produce a phase separated morphology of hard segment-rich and soft segment-rich phase. • DYLAM and its related applications are reviewed in detail and found to have many favourable characteristics. Concerning human factor analysis, the study demonstrates that DYLAM methodology represents an appropriate tool to study man-machine behaviour provided that DYLAM is used to model machine behaviour and an appropriate operator interface human factor model is included. A hybrid model which is a synthesis of the DYLAM model, a system thermodynamic simulation model and a neural network predicative model, is implemented and used to analyse dynamically the CANDU pressurizer system.

Previous studies have shown that the DYLAM methodology represents an appropriate tool to study dynamic analysis. A hybrid model which is a synthesis of the DYLAM model, a system thermodynamic simulation model and a neural network predicative model, is implemented and used to analyze dynamically the CANDU pressurizer system. This study demonstrates that the hybrid model for system reliability analyses is effective.

  • The partition function of liquid halogens is developed applying the significant liquid structure theory proposed by H. Eyring and co-workers. The parameters in the partition function are determined by triple point technique which was proposed by the authors in the previous paper, and also the thermodynamic properties and the surface tension are calculated by the method therein.

  • Temperature effect on the critical micelle concentration of hexadecyl trimetyl ammonium bromide over the range of $2^{\circ}-50^{\circ}C$ has been investigated by the method of electrical conductivity. The values obtained have been formulated as a power series in T. Several thermodynamic parameters have been calculated for the temparature range examined and their values have been discussed in the light of current theories on the participation of solvent in micelle formation.

  • The theory is based on two thermodynamic equations for the air mass in the air column and bydrodynamic equation for the relation between the response of the air in the water column and the incident wave. The numerical model is experimented in a two dimensional water tank and the caisson model with sloped front wall is tested in the large towing tank.

  • In the development of rocket turbo-pump, cavitation at the inducer is one of the major problems. Cryogenic fluids are commonly used for rocket propellant, therefore, thermodynamic effect becomes noticeable compared to conventional water cavitation. In the present study, a numerical simulation method for cryogenic cavitation is proposed, which reveals the difference between cryogenic and water cavitation.

  • From numerical point of view on flow network system analyses, stagnation properties are not preserved along streamlines across geometric discontinuities. Hence, GJM and DTM using ghost cell and thermodynamic relations are developed to preserve the stagnation enthalpy for the boundaries, such as the interfaces between junction and branches and the interface between two pipes of different cross-sections in serial pipelines. Additionally, the resolving power and efficiencies of the 2nd order Godunov type FV schemes are investigated and estimated by the tracing of the total mechanical energy during calculating rapid transients. Among the approximate Riemann solvers, RoeM is more suitable with the proposed boundary treatments especially for junction than Roe's FDS because of its conservativeness of stagnation enthalpy across geometric discontinuities.
