A numerical model considering the vapor pressure and the creep models, in the form of a analytical program, for tracing the behavior of high strength concrete (HSC) members exposed to fire is presented. The two stages, i.e., spalling procedure and fire resistance time, associated with the thermal, moisture flow, creep and structural analysis, for the prediction of fire resistance behavior are explained. The use of the analytical program for tracing the response of HSC member from the initial pre-loading stage to collapse, due to fire, is demonstrated. The validity of the numerical model used in this program is established by comparing the predictions from this program with results from others fire resistance tests. The analytical program can be used to predict the fire resistance of HSC members for any value of the significant parameters, such as load, sectional dimensions, member length, and concrete strength.

In tunnel, though the frequency of fire occurrence is relatively lower than other structures, the characteristics of sealed space tends to cause the temperature to rapidly rise to more than $1000^{\circ}C$ within 5 minutes after fire, which might eventually lead to a large fire that usually results in a loss of lives and the damage to the properties, not to mention a huge cost necessary for repair and maintenance after fire. Referring to foreign tunnel fire scenarios, it clarified the heat transfer characteristics of concrete PC panel lining depending on fire intensity (ISO, MHC, RWS), and to identify the range of thermal damage, the evaluation was carried out using ITA standard. As a result, 39mm under ISO fire condition, 50mm under MHC and 100mm under RWS were measured. And when it comes to spalling, 30mm was measured under RWS. When PC panel was designed to serve the support, a fire resistance to the minimum depth of 100mm of the concrete that might be damaged under the fire shall be maintained, and in case of a non-support structure, PC lining shall have at least 100mm thickness.

The serious issue of tall building is to ensure the fire resistance of high strength concrete. Therefore, Solving methods are required to control the explosive spalling. The fire resistant finishing method is installed by applying a fire resistant material as a light-weight material to structural steel and concrete surface. This method can reduce the temperature increase of the reinforcement embedded in structural steel and concrete at high temperature due to the installation thickness control. This study is interested in identifying the effectiveness of light-weight fire protection material compounds including the inorganic admixture such as fly ash, meta-kaolin and light-weight aggregate as the fire resistant finishing materials through the analysis of fire resistance and components properties at high temperature. Also, this paper is concerned with change in microstructure and dehydration of the light-weight fire protection materials at high temperatures. The testing methods of fire protection materials in high temperature properties are make use of SEM and XRD. The study results show that the light-weight fire resistant finishing material composed of fly ash, meta-kaolin and light-weight aggregate has the thermal stability of the slight decrease of compressive strength at high temperature. These thermal stability is caused by the ceramic binding capacity induced by alkali activation reaction by the reason of the thermal analysis result not showing the decomposition of calcium hydrate. Developed light-weight fire protection materials showed good stability in high Temperatures. Thus, the results indicate that it is possible to fireproof panels, fire protection of materials.

Fire-resistant (FR) test data for a square concrete-filled steel tube (CFT) columns consisting of high-strength steel (fy>650MPa) and high strength concrete (fck>100MPa) under axial loads are insufficient. The FR behavior of square high-strength CFT members was investigated experimentally for two specimens having ${\Box}-400{\times}400{\times}15{\times}3,000mm$ with two axial load cases (5,000kN and 2,500kN). The results show that the FR performance of the high-strength CFT was rapidly decreased at earlier time (much earlier at high axial load) than expected due to high strength concrete spalling and cracks. In addition, a fiber element analysis (FEA) model was proposed and used to simulate the fiber behaviour of the columns. For steel and concrete, the mechanical and thermal properties recommended in EN 1994-1-2 are adopted. Test results were compared to those of numerical analyses considering a combination of temperature and axial compression. The numerical model can reasonably predict the time-axial deformation relationship.
Physical properties of sputtered YSZ thin film electrolytes on anode thin film by spray pyrolisis has been investigated to realize the porous electrode and dense electrolyte multilayer structure for micro solid oxide fuel cells. It is shown that for better crystallinity and density, YSZ need to be deposited at an elevated temperature. However, if pure NiO anode was used for high temperature deposition, massive defects such as spalling and delamination were induced due to high thermal expansion mismatch. By changing anode to NiOCGO composite, defects were significantly reduced even at high deposition temperature. Further research on realization of full cells by processing hybridization and cell performance characterization will be performed in near future.
It was the first time the MgO-C brick was developed for the lining materials in the hot spots in electric are furnace in 1972. MgO-C brick is high registant to thermal and structural spalling. Futhermore for the reason that carbon is hard to react with slag and MgO is high fireproof MgO-C brick shows a high corrosion registance to slag attack compared with conventional basic refractories. Owing to their excellent properties the use of MgO-C refractories are being developed widely in the field of shaped refractories and even in that of monolithic refractories. In this paper the oxidation of carbon the infiltration of slag into the brick texture and effects of additions were investigated. The results obtained were as follows : 1) The use of fused MgO-clinker and high purity carbon as raw materials increased the corosion registance and hot modulus of rupture of MgO-C brick. 2) As the oxidation reaction of the carbon proceeded the slag infiltrated into the brick texture. And then the slag components reacted with the MgO grains and formed low melting point compounds particulary CaO.MgO.$SiO_2$ and 3CaO.MgO.$2SiO_2$ that resulted in the wear of the brick. 3) It is recongnized the Al, Si, $B_3C$ effects on the oxidation registant properties of MgO-C brick by contribu-ting to the decrease of permeability according to the formation of $Al_4C_3$, SiC, $B_2O_3$ and the decrease of open pores relating to the formation of MgO.Al2O3, $SiO_2$, 3MgO.$B_2O_3$ at the decarbonized layer.

The objective of the present study is to investigate how elevated temperature ranging from $100^{\circ}C$ to $800^{\circ}C$ as well as room temperature affects the variation of mechanical properties of high strength concrete ($over\;f_{ck}=60MPa\;grade$). In this experiment, specimens were exposed for a period of $2^{\circ}C/min$ to temperatures of $20^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$$400^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$, $700^{\circ}C$ and $800^{\circ}C$, respectively. Accordingly, the study investigated the fire resistance performance of high strength concrete mixed with composite fibers which composed with hybrid fibers and steel fibers. After cooling down to ambient temperature, the following basic mechanical properties were then evaluated and compared with reference values obtained prior to thermal exposure: (i) compressive strength in room temperature; (ii) residual compressive strength; (iii) Poisson's ratio; (iv) weight change; (v) SEM analysis & XRD analysis In addition, XRD and SEM Images analyses were performed to investigate chemical and physical characteristics of high strength concrete with composite fibers according to high temperature.
This paper investigates experimentally and numerically the influence of drilling process on the mechanical and thermomechanical behaviors of woven glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite plate. Through the experimental analysis, a CNC machine with cemented carbide drill (point angles 𝜙=118° and 6 mm diameter) was used to drill a woven GFRP laminated squared plate with a length of 36.6 mm and different thicknesses. A produced temperature during drilling "heat affected zone (HAZ)" was measured by two different procedures using thermal IR camera and thermocouples. A thrust force and cutting torque were measured by a Kistler 9272 dynamometer. The delamination factors were evaluated by the image processing technique. Finite element model (FEM) has been developed by using LS-Dyna to simulate the drilling processing and validate the thrust force and torque with those obtained by experimental technique. It is found that, the present finite element model has the capability to predict the force and torque efficiently at various drilling conditions. Numerical parametric analysis is presented to illustrate the influences of the speeding up, coefficient of friction, element type, and mass scaling effects on the calculated thrust force, torque and calculation's cost. It is found that, the cutting time can be adjusted by drilling parameters (feed, speed, and specimen thickness) to control the induced temperature and thus, the force, torque and delamination factor in drilling GFRP composites. The delamination of woven GFRP is accompanied with edge chipping, spalling, and uncut fibers.

Concrete has advantages in fire situations as it is non-combustible and has low thermal conductivity. However, concrete that is not designed against fire can experience significant explosive spalling from the build-up of pore pressures and internal tensile stresses when heated. In this study, the performance of wet-mixed high strength sprayed polymer mortar for fire resistance of tunnel system was evaluated by experimentally and numerically. The fire test was performed in fire resistance(electric) furnace according to RABT(Richtlinien fur die Ausstatung und den Betrieb von $Stra{\beta}entunneln$) time heating temperature curve, so as to evaluate the temperature distribution with cover thickness of wet-mixed high strength sprayed polymer mortar for fire resistance of tunnel system. Based on experimental results and numerical analysis, the proper cover thickness of wet-mixed high strength sprayed polymer mortar determined the more than 4cm.

This study presents experimental investigation on the residual capacity of fire-damaged voided slabs according to loading conditions. In this study, two voided slab specimens were fabricated, and heated by ISO standard fire during 120 minutes with different loading conditions of presence of loading. These specimens were cooled down to room temperature, and the residual capacity of fire-damaged voided slabs was investigated. Based on test results, thermal distribution of voided slab through the depth of concrete sections is different by the loading conditions. The temperature of loaded specimen is rapidly elevated through the whole depth of concrete sections compared to the unloaded specimen. The residual strength of fire-damaged voided slab specimens are 60% and 66% of that of voided slab specimen without fire damage, and the residual stiffness of fire-damaged voided slab specimens decreases by 15%~23% of that of voided slab specimen without fire damage. In case of voided slab specimens subjected ISO standard fire, the loaded specimen shows the decrease of 10% in the residual strength and the decrease of 15% in the residual stiffness compared to the unloaded specimen. It seems to result from higher temperature of bottom reinforcements in the loaded specimen due to the cracks, and more extensive damage on concrete cover of reinforcements by spalling process according to load level.
