'Gyeokmulchiji' (格物致知), coming to knowledge based on the investigation of things) is a starting point for any study and politics of Confucianism. Much emphasis was placed on the conception of 'Gyeokchi' as a root of every learning and adminstration in the early Joseon period. As Confucianism established itself as a salient value system of the government, a mighty change and paradigm shift happened in its governmental system which had depended upon Buddhism up to that time. Thus, Confucian statecraft also stood out. Daehakyeonui (大學衍義) was preached as a model of regal learning and politics in the governmental agon, and its conceptual starting point was 'Gyeokchi.' The various interpretations and arguments about this concept shows the process in which Zhu Xi NeoConfucianism was deepened into Neo-Confucianism of Joseon's own. This conception reached the essence of 'Li' beyond the problem of cognitive subject and object, and provided a watershed which divided Giho (畿湖) and Yeongnam (嶺南) schools. Confucian method of study, which incorporates knowledge and practice, has great implications for our times when there are many voices of concern over humanities. The enhancement of universities and humanities is much needed to adjust the direction and pace of scientific technology, which is now entirely left with the logic of market. Accordingly, it is quite urgent for us to examine our object of learning again, which should integrate 'Sugi' (修己, cultivating oneself) with 'Chi-in' (治人, governing others), and knowledge with practice.

Recently, maintenance of clean ocean is very important issue. One part of the issue strongly relates to the safe navigation of vessels. Most parts of safe navigation depend on the mariner's competencies. STCW was established to guarantee the sufficient mariner's competencies. However the code dose not indicate the each necessary competency clearly. Therefore, the understandings on STCW are not same among training institutes, and each training institute interprets them individually and executes them. As a result, it makes big differences among the institutes concerning training methods and contents and the assessment on mariner's competencies. The countries in EU have paid attention on this issue and the activities enhance the rational assessment of competencies through METNET. In order to execute the rational assessments, it is necessary to clarify the techniques being assessed. And it means the necessity to clarify the necessary techniques for safe navigation and to assess the competencies to achieve them, and then we can attain the objectives of STCW. In this paper, the necessary techniques for achievement of safe navigation are discussed and the methods of assessment of competencies are proposed. As we apply proposed assessment system, we can get the mariner's competency quantitatively and continuously through training period. Then we can know the trend of the competency that is the learning process. By clarifying the learning process of the techniques, we can decide the necessary training time to achieve the competencies. Furthermore, we can discuss the issues on conversion between training onboard and simulator used training by analysing the learning processes.

Background: Otitis media with effusion(OME) is one of the most common disease in childhood. Patient suffers from OME in many quarters. For example hearing loss, effects on speech, language, learning, behaviouralchanges etc. But the diagnosis of OME is difficult using only medical history and otoscopy. So, many other diagnostic tools are developed and tympanometry is one of them. When OME is treated by oriental medical Tx, tympanometry would be useful instrument. Objectives: To gain insight into the usability of tympanometry in F/U of OME treated by oriental medial Tx. Methods: Data was collected from 123 ears of 74 children who was treated by oriental medical Tx. Data includes sex, age, period of Tx, elapsed time to be improved, tympanograms and accompanied symptoms. The relationship between items was analysed by statistical methods. Results: There is no relationship between age, sex and period of Tx/elapsed time to be improved. When cough and phlegm is accompanied, the period of treatment and elapsed time to be improved are expanded. When improvement was seen on tympanogram, the period of treatment is expanded but the improvement was seen within 30days, the period of treatment is reduced. Conclusion: The application of tympanometry in oriental medical treatment of OME would provide us many informations about the status of patient so it will be helpful to predict the history of a case and to make a decision whether keep up treatment or not.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the usages and problems of distance science learning and learner behavior analysis. This study established an Sixteen-weeks period of experimental treatment from March to June 2020, and the students who participated in the study formed a research group of 128 students in 2nd grade of their advanced classes who are attending the second semester of B university of education and taking courses in 'teaching research 1'. B university of education is singleness class that doesn't have compare group, so this study is constituted only study group. The results of the study were as follows. First, The students who took science learning remotely liked using the university's LMS system. Second, it was not efficient for the faculty member's scientific data presentation to operate smoothly in the online system. Third, it is necessary to set various educational platforms as a standardized platform. Looking at the pros and cons of various platforms may vary depending on the suitability of education, but if the LMS system, which is a professional teaching support method, is upgraded to meet the needs of learners, the satisfaction of higher instructors and learners will be higher.
This study analyzed the learning characteristics of polar education programs operated by polar research institutes in domestic and foreign countries and aims to provide directions for improving domestic polar education programs. Using the database provided by the Korea Polar Research Institute (KOPRI), 120 programs from 16 research institutes in 9nine countries were selected. Each program was analyzed based on educational level, instructor, education period, learning place, learning environment, learning content, and learning method. Significant differences in domestic and foreign programs in terms of instructors, operational methods, educational places, and learning methods were found. Based on these findings, we discuss the direction for improving domestic polar education by expanding the base of polar education, diversifying the learning methods, and systematizing polar education using examples of actual programs. Based on the scientific, social, economic, and cultural values and importance of the polar region, this study presents specific directions to further spread and sustain polar education and culture in Korea.

Climate change causes fluctuations in water quality in the aquatic environment, which can cause changes in water circulation patterns and severe adverse effects on aquatic ecosystems in the future. Therefore, research is needed to predict and respond to water quality changes caused by climate change in advance. In this study, we tried to predict the dissolved oxygen (DO), chlorophyll-a, and turbidity of the Paldang reservoir for about two weeks using long short-term memory (LSTM) and gated recurrent units (GRU), which are deep learning algorithms based on recurrent neural networks. The model was built based on real-time water quality data and meteorological data. The observation period was set from July to September in the summer of 2021 (Period 1) and from March to May in the spring of 2022 (Period 2). We tried to select an algorithm with optimal predictive power for each water quality parameter. In addition, to improve the predictive power of the model, an important variable extraction technique using random forest was used to select only the important variables as input variables. In both Periods 1 and 2, the predictive power after extracting important variables was further improved. Except for DO in Period 2, GRU was selected as the best model in all water quality parameters. This methodology can be useful for preventive water quality management by identifying the variability of water quality in advance and predicting water quality in a short period.

The goal of this study is to test the hypothesis that the practicality of EXCEL VBA will be beneficial for SW education for SW non-majors. To this end, we planned the education for non-majors using the EXCEL VBA and conducted 15 weeks of education. According to a follow-up survey conducted after the 15-week education period, 72.21% of the survey respondents said EXCEL was practical. Also, learners who were aware of the necessity of SW education and the importance of SW competence recognized that the computational thinking education using EXCEL VBA had a positive effect on the improvement of computer-related knowledge and experience. Also, learners recognized that learning with EXCEL was easy, while learning with VBA was difficult. The learning process using VBA needs to be composed of project-oriented educational contents that can give a sense of achievement to learners rather than programming-oriented education. And continuous research on project-based learning is needed.
Purpose: This study examined the effects of peer assisted learning (PAL) using video recordings in standardized patients (SP) simulation. Methods: A mixed-method approach was adopted, in which quantitative data were supplemented with qualitative data. Research participants consisted of 49 nursing students, 24 of whom were assigned to the experimental group, and 25 to the control group. The 12 item instrument was used to measure perioperative care knowledge, while performance confidence was assessed with the 10 item questionnaire, and clinical critical thinking skills with the Clinical Critical Thinking Skill Test (CCTS). Qualitative data were collected using a reflective journaling and in-depth interviews. Results: Participants in the experimental group exhibited significantly higher levels of knowledge than those in the control group (t=5.43, p<.001), and were significantly more confident in their performances (F=52.33, p<.001). However, no significant differences were found between the experimental and the control groups with regard to CCTS (t=0.72, p=.477). A qualitative content analysis was conducted using the interview and reflective journaling data, in which six major themes were elicited from three codes. Conclusion: PAL employing video recordings is expected to be utilized as a teaching and learning strategy in simulation-based nursing practicum with greater frequency and longer period, given the positive effects observed in this study.
