Objectives: Young adulthood represents a critical developmental period during which the use of tobacco may begin or cease. Furthermore, differences in smoking behaviors between younger (aged 18-24 years) and older (aged 25-34 years) young adults may exist. This study aimed to characterize patterns related to current smoking in younger and older young adults. Methods: This study used data acquired from the Sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted from 2013 to 2014. A total of 2069 subjects were categorized as younger (712 subjects) and older (1357 subjects) young adults. The chi-square test was used to assess the relationships between smoking status and socio-demographic, health-related, and smoking-related factors. Multivariable logistic regression models were constructed to assess the factors affecting current smoking in these age groups. Results: The current smoking prevalence was 18.3% among the younger young adults and 26.0% among the older young adults. Sex, education level, occupation, perceived health status, alcohol consumption, and electronic cigarette use were related to current smoking in both age groups. Secondhand smoke exposure at home and stress levels showed significant relationships with smoking in younger and older young adults, respectively. Conclusions: Strong correlations were found between the observed variables and smoking behaviors among young adults. Determining the factors affecting smoking and designing interventions based on these factors are essential for smoking cessation in young adults.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between young children's temperament, emotional regulation ability and mother's parenting sense of competence. Methods: The participants were comprised of 315 young children who attend a kindergarten or day care center and their mothers from Seoul, Inchon, and Gyeonggi-do Province. They completed questionnaires on temperament, emotion regulation ability, and parenting sense of competence. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. Results: It was observed that young children's regularity/adaptability was positively correlated with sense of competence as a parent and young children's emotional regulation. Young children's regularity/adaptability was negatively correlated with dissatisfaction as a parent and young children's emotional instability/negativity. Sense of competence as a parent was positively correlated with young children's emotional regulation and negatively correlated with young children's emotional instability/negativity. In addition, it was further found that the mother's parenting sense of competence tended to play a perfectly/partially mediating role between young children's temperament and young children's emotional regulation ability respectively. Conclusion/Implications: These results clearly indicated that parenting sense of competence plays a crucial role between young children's temperament and emotional regulation.
This study analyzed the effect of young farmers' stress on farming satisfaction and Intention to Leave the Farming. The analysis targets young people living in rural areas and engaged in agriculture among 4H members nationwide. As a result of the analysis, there were significant differences in stress of young farmers according to the characteristics of the investigator, and there were differences according to family composition and community activities. In addition, family stress and social stress showed significant results according to the type of young farmers, community activities, and economic stress according to the type and family composition of young farmers. And the stress of young farmers had a positive (+) effect on Intention to Leave the Farming, and family and social stress also had a positive (+) effect on Intention to Leave the Farming. In addition, the stress of young farmers affected farming satisfaction, and family stress and social stress also had a negative (-) effect on farming satisfaction. Therefore, efforts will be needed to improve farming satisfaction and reduce Intention to Leave the Farming by reducing stress among young farmers.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mother's neuroticism and parenting stress, and young children's stress on internal and external problem behaviors. The participants of this study consisted of 236 mothers, who had children aged 5-7 in Chungbuk area. Mothers responded to questionnaires and data analyzed using SPSS program(version 12.0) and AMOS program(version 5.0). The results of this study were as follows.: First, a mother's neuroticism, parenting stress, and young children's stress directly influenced on young children's internalizing problem behaviors. The effect of mother's neuroticism on young children's internalizing problem behaviors was mediated by mother's parenting stress and young children's stress. Second, mother's parenting stress influenced young children's externalizing problem behaviors directly, but mother's neuroticism and young children's stress did not. The effect of mother's neuroticism on young children's externalizing problem behaviors was mediated by parenting stress.
Objectives: The aim of the present investigation was to determine whether the finger photoplethysmography (PPG) of the young will become analogous to those of the old when the PPG harmonic components in the young decrease. Methods: The PPG was measured in 46 old men (21 males and 25 females) over the age of 60 years and 10 young men (5 males and 5 females). We acquired the representative pulse waveform of old men by averaging the PPG waveforms measured in the old men. after the PPG harmonic components in the young men were diminished with notch filtering, we compared the representative pulse waveform of old men and those of the young men. Results: The PPG waveform of the young males became analogous to the representative pulse waveform of the old as the PPG harmonic components in the young were diminished with notch filtering. Especially after the second harmonic component in the young was diminished with notch filtering, increase of the Pearson's correlation coefficient was prominent. On the other hand, the Pearson's correlation coefficient between the PPG waveforms of the young females and that of the old deceased after the second harmonic component diminished in the young. Conclusions: Decrease of the second harmonic component may be a precondition of typical age-related change of the pulse waveform in the healthy male.
Authors investigated the hematological examinations of 993 persons at rural region among the 1,7 41 of residents in-the part of Dang Jin (M:268, F:247) and Young Joo (M:270, F:208) in the Korea which was indicated as follows. 1. There are higher values of hemoglobin, hernatocrit, M.C.H.C. and WBC in men and women at Young Joo than Dang Jin.
Purpose: This cross-sectional study was done to compare factors influencing young adolescents' aggression according to family structure. Methods: Participants were 680 young adolescents aged 11 to 15 years (113 in single father families, 136 in single mother families, 49 in grandparent families, and 382 in both-parent families). All measures were self-administered. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program and factors affecting young adolescents' aggression were analyzed by stepwise multiple regression. Results: Levels of young adolescents' aggression and all variables were significantly different among the four family structure groups. Factors influencing young adolescents' aggression were also different according to these 4 groups. For single father families, depression-anxiety and family hardiness significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.37, p<.001). For single mother families, depression-anxiety, gender, and friends' support significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.58, p<.001). For grandparent families, depression-anxiety and family support significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.58, p<.001). For both-parent families, depression-anxiety, family hardiness, and friends' support significantly predicted the level of young adolescents' aggression (adjusted R square=.48, p<.001). Conclusion: Nurses working with young adolescents should consider family structure-specific factors influencing aggression in this population.
This study focused on the relationship between young children's aggression and associated relative factors, so that we set young children's temperament, young children's self-regulation ability, mother's parenting efficacy, and mother's parenting behavior as associated relative factors. Therefore, we researched how these associated relative factors could affect young children's aggression. Subjects were 350 young children and their mothers who were attending nine kindergarten in I-city and J-city, Jeonlabuk-do. Statistics and methods used for data analysis were Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation and Multiple Regression. Result's are as followings: First, as we researched into the correlation between young children's aggression and associated relative factors, we found that there were significant correlation in young children's temperament and mother's parenting efficacy, mother's indulgent and permissive parenting behavior, and controlled parenting behavior. Second, as we researched into the efficacy between young children's aggression and associated relative factors, we found that young children's aggression was directly affected by young children's active character that is one of young children's temperaments, young children's self-regulation ability, mother's active involvement in parenting behavior, mother's indulgent and permissive parenting behavior, and mother's controlled parenting behavior. That is, young children's aggression was 22% affected by these associated relative factors.

For the description of the elastic properties of linear objects a convenient parameter is the ratio of the stress to the strain, a parameter called the Young's modulus of the material. Young's modulus can be used to predict the elongation or compression of an object as long as the stress is less than the yield strength of the material. Conventional method for estimating Young's modulus measured the ratio of stress to corresponding strain below the proportional limit of a material using a tensile testing machine. But the method needs precision specimens and expensive equipment. In this paper, we proposed method for estimating Young's modulus using accelerometer. The basic idea comes from that the wave velocity is different as the Young's modulus. To obtain Young's modulus, a group velocity is obtained. It is difficult to measure group velocity. This is because plate medium has a dispersive characteristics which has different wave speed as frequency. In this paper, we used Wigner-Ville distribution to measure group velocity. To verify the proposed method, steel and acryl plate experiments have been performed. Experimental results show that the proposed method is powerful for estimating Young's modulus.
