A Study on Teachers' Recognition about the Subject Exclusive Responsibility of ICT Education in Elementary School (정보통신기술교육의 교과전담제에 대한 초등 교사의 인식에 관한 연구)

  • Currently, ICT(Information and Communication Technology) education in elementary school is processed as a discretion class work. Such ICT education needs the research to change to a literacy education. This study is the teachers' recognition about the subject exclusive responsibility of ICT education in elementary school. As a result of a questionnaire, we analyzed that most of the teachers want to change the ICT education as a subject exclusive responsibility. Through these analysis results, this study provided basic data for effective operating of ICT education as the computer education.

  • In the existing curriculum of the Elementary computer Education emphasizes students' problem-solving ability and knowledge of informatics. However, current computer education focus on using application program. In order to raise students' problem-solving ability and logical thinking ability, it is necessary to learning about computer science education. Thereupon, this study applied unplugged learning method to the elementary student. To apply the play-based unplugged learning method to the area of information representation. As a result, unplugged learning method produced higher academic achievement than the lecture model. Also it was more positive in the affective area than the lecture model.

  • Cyber education and teacher training is the distance training program which is operating in the Korea National University of Education for teachers and citizen. In this paper, we suggest a model for establishing legal basis of cyber teacher training, by analyzing laws and processing-laws in the parliament and cyber teacher training institutes. The model contain 'The Rule for Operating CTTI(Cyber Teacher Training Institute)', 'The Rule for Using CIT Systems', 'The Rule for Operation CIT'.

The Prospects of Library Education in Korea (한국 도서관학 교육의 전망)

  • The purpose of this paper is to forecast the future of library education in Korea. Toward this purpose, first, the historical events of library education in the United States of America and in the United Kingdom are introduced along with the IFLA Standards for Library Schools and the Unesco's General Information Programme. Secondly, the theoretical foundations of library education are extracted from the events. Thirdly, the factors influencing library education as well as library developments are identified, and, finally, the prospects of library education are forecasted in the light of the various factors in the Korean society and the theoretical foundations. The prospects are forecasted as follows: 1. The education for information science will be incorporated in library education. 2. The number of courses related to library services and uses will be increased. 3. The students should be provided with enough hands-on experiences to be familiar with new information technology. 4. The cooperation between library schools and libraries will be reinforced. 5. The departments of library science will cooperate with other departments in the universities in order to utilize the expertise and facilities. 6. The education of graduate schools will be specialized to produce subject specialist librarians and the undergraduate education will produce public and school librarians. 7. Opportunities for continuing education will be provided more and librarians encouraged to participate in those activities. 8. Library association should actively be involved in library education as a provider of continuing education or as a liaison between library schools and libraries. 9. The courses of foundations including library history, library research and preservation of culture will never be neglected.

  • We have found out that the value of multimedia production from this points of view that the elementary information gifted children is still in a development stage and the goal of the gifted program is development of creative problem solving ability. So, the following study suggests multimedia production education as an alternative plan to the current education of elementary Information gifted children which is becoming problematic. Its goal is to produce an educational system which included process-product model which is one of the educational program for gifted children. Especially, an aspect in technical education, common skill of multimedia software and skill of product was tried in due consideration of the property of information gifted children, it was applied for information gifted education institute by a form of remote-education and weekend education. Through this study, multimedia production education was proposed for elementary school IT genius education. By incorporating gifted education model, we tried to work out IT genius education from the gifted program's point of view.

  • The essence of adapting education to the information age consists of two parts. One is the building of infrastructure for information education and the other is putting information and communication technology to educational use. Moreover, from a usage point of view, it is the most important thing that secures much educational software of good quality supporting adapting schools to the information age. It does mean the investigation about the plan of evaluation of educational software is important. Thus, in this study, we provide scientific information for efficient selection and use of educational software as end-users, and provide objective evaluation criteria of quality as a developer. In addition, through this research, we can lay the foundation for adapting education to the information age. For this purpose, we analyzed previous research relevant to the evaluation of educational software, divided the criteria of evaluation into three parts, educational, applicational, and technical, and develop the criteria of evaluation in detail.

  • In this paper, previous research materials for the education in the area of information and communications of elementary information curriculum, new improvement and the suitability of contents selection were examined and analyzed. Targeting professors in the departments of elementary computer education nationwide, the importance of the educational contents organization and the appropriateness of education period were investigated. Based on the investigation results, they were evaluated through the verification of the third delphi survey, the final educational contents were selected, and the elements of key concepts, achievement standards were drawn up and suggested. The proposed organization of educational contents in the area of information and communications of the elementary information curriculum and the achievement standards will be able to be used for the re-organization and improvement of detailed elementary information educational contents.

  • In seventh curriculum policy, operating the computer education is divided into two parts: they are the information communication technology (ICT) education and related areas in the computer curriculum. This study compares and analyzes the learning contents of "enjoyable computer"-ICT education teaching materials of Busan elementary schools. This paper researches the trend and the actual condition of computer education in foreign countries, and it surveys teachers and students to find out the recognition and demands of computer education. And this paper examines the revised Operating Guide of ICT Education and it compares to the contents system of current curriculum and demands of students and teachers.

The purpose of this study is develop a constructive information searching model, present contents meet with learner's grade then help teacher and learner can search information that needed teaching and learning.   • Although Internet provides a lot of convenience such as easy accessibility, interactivity, concurrency, openness, subsequent dysfunction causes serious problems. Especially elementary school students are indiscriminately exposed to the problems, and thus information communication ethics education is needed for the students. This study conducted a survey with randomly selected 5th and 6th graders in Chungbuk area, and analyzed 'students' experience and perception related to information dysfunction' and 'their experience and perception related to information & communication ethics education at school'. In addition, for the detailed understanding of students' current status and accompanying instructional approach, an additional analysis was conducted to examine the existence of the difference according to students' gender and grade. As a result, significant differences were found according to students' gender and grade in their experience and perception related to the information dysfunction and information & communication ethics education. Considering such differences according to students' gender and grade, appropriate instructional approach needs to be prepared to satisfy students' needs for more effective information & communication ethics education.
