Chemical constituents of Dicentra spectabilis and their anti-inflammation effect

  • Column chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract from the roots of Dicentra spectabilis yielded fourteen compounds, menisdaurin (1), menisdaurilide (2), trans-N-p-coumaroyltyramine (3), trans-N-p-feruloyltyramine (4), 4-O-feruloylquinicacid (5), chlorogenic acid (6), 3-O-feruloylquinicacid (7), ferulic acid (8), protopine (9), Kaempferol 3,7-di-O-${\beta}-{\text\tiny{D}}$-glucopyranoside (10), kaempferol 3-O-${\beta}-{\text\tiny{D}}$-glucopyranosyl-7-O-${\alpha}-{\text\tiny{L}}$-rhamnopyranoside (11), ${\alpha}-rhamnoisorobin$ (12), astragalin (13), and nicotiflorin (14). Their structures were determined on the basis of NMR spectroscopic data. Among them, compound 1, 3-8, and 10-14 isolated from this plant were reported for the first time. The isolated compounds (1-14) were tested for nitric oxide (NO) inhibitory activity on lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Compound 3, 4 and 12 significantly inhibited NO production. Moreover, Compound 3 suppressed pro-inflammatory cytokines ($TNF-{\alpha}$, $IL-1{\beta}$ and IL-6) in a dose- dependent manner. These data suggest that compound 3 possess anti-inflammatory activity and might be useful natural materials for development of anti-inflammatory agent.

Design and Implementation of Text Classification System based on ETOM+RPost (ETOM+RPost기반의 문서분류시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • Recently, the size of online texts and textual information is increasing explosively, and the automated classification has a great potential for handling data such as news materials and images. Text classification system is based on supervised learning which needs laborous work by human expert. The main goal of this paper is to reduce the manual intervention, required for the task. The other goal is to increase accuracy to be high. Most of the documents have high complexity in contents and the high similarities in their described style. So, the classification results are not satisfactory. This paper shows the implementation of classification system based on ETOM+RPost algorithm and classification progress using SPAM data. In experiments, we verified our system with right-training documents and wrong-training documents. The experimental results show that our system has high accuracy and stability in all situation as 16% improvement in accuracy.

Mutimedia Mail Authoring System Providing Message Integration (메시지 통합성을 제공하는 멀티미디어 메일 저작 시스템)

  • E-mail system has been widely used for information transmission. As multimedia technologies are developed, many Internet services support multimedia. E-mail system only transmits 7bit ASCII data using simple mail transfer protocol(SMTP) specified in RFC 821. E-mail system can't support the authoring and the transmission of multimedia data. In this study multimedia mail authoring system has been designed and implemented in order to provide message integration. Multimedia messages can be authored and transformed into text types with this system. Transformed messages are transmitted from sender's mail transfer agent (MTA) to receiver's MTA by means of SMTP. Messages can be authored in hypertext markup language (HTML) including text, image, audio and video. This system provides integrated messages which consist or various media. BASE64 Encoding method is used in order to transform multimedia messages into text types. Received mails are managed by multimedia user agent (MUA) which is proposed in this study. Convenience for user is improved in this system.

  • A new integrated coding method is proposed in this study for embedding the text information including Hangul into an image. A monochrome analog image may be quantized to a few leveled digital image and be displayed on bi-leveled output devices by using halftone processing techniques. Text data are embedded on each micro pattern. Based on this concept, the encoding and the decoding algorithm are implemented and experiments are performed. As a result, the average amount of the embedded text information is more than 8 bpp (bits per pixer) in this halftone processed image converted form a $64{\times}64$ image, i.e, corresponding to 2000 characters in Hangul, or 4000 characters in alphanumeral. using this algorithm, the integrated personal record management system is implemented.

Effect of Schema Activation on English Reading Comprehension -Focused on Middle School Students- (스키마 활성화가 영어 독해에 미치는 영향 -중학생을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the effects of schema activation on reading comprehension. The subject of a sample survey was a 36 student experimental group and a 32 student control group, total 68 students at third grade class of C Middle School in Gwangju. Students ability to read English in the two groups were almost the same through, which was shown by pre-test administered before the beginning of the experiment. As a pre-reading activity, the experimental group was showed the pictures and vocabularies related to the text before reading. The other control group did Grammar Translation Method about text. The data needed for this study was obtained by the questionnaires with 25 questions about the English reading. The data analyzing method was t-test through the statistics program SPSS 12.0. The result of this study is as follows : First, the experimental group got a more meaningful score than the control group at the test. Second, pre-reading activities for providing prior knowledge of the text were affected by the student's English proficiency, peculiarly more effective on low level student than advanced level. Studying English reading through schema activation led the students to be present in classes with interests, so the experimental group showed more academic accomplishments than the control group.

  • Wrappers play an important role in extracting specified information from various sources. Wrapper rules by which information is extracted are often created from the domain-specific knowledge. Domain-specific knowledge helps recognizing the meaning the text representing various entities and values and detecting their formats However, such domain knowledge becomes powerless when value-representing data are not labeled with appropriate textual descriptions or there is nothing but a hyper link when certain text labels or values are expected. In order to alleviate these problems, we propose a probabilistic method for recognizing the entity type, i.e. generating wrapper rules, when there is no label associated with value-representing text. In addition, we have devised a method for using the information reachable by following hyperlinks when textual data are not immediately available on the target web page. Our experimental work shows that the proposed methods help increasing precision of the resulting wrapper, particularly extracting the title information, the most important entity on a web page. The proposed methods can be useful in making a more efficient and correct information extraction system for various sources of information without user intervention.

A Study on Teachers’Recognition and Teaching methods in Housing of Home Economics Text Book of Middle School (중학교 가정 교과서의 주생활 단원에 대한 교사의 인식과 교육에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate teachers’recognition and teaching methods in Housing of Home Economics Text Book of Middle School and to provide the basic data for the improvement of its curriculum. Home Economics teachers of the 433 schools responded in nationwide to the mailed questionaire. The selected data were manipulated by percent and verified in the way of t-test. The findings of this study are as follows: 1. Most Home Economics teachers have ever taken teacher training but there are few who have never taken any teacher training in Housing. And even those who have ever taken the training in Housing are not satisfied with the training curriculum contents. Therefore, the result of this study shows that Housing should be included in the teacher training curriculum contents, and that the teacher training curriculum contents, and that the teacher training curriculum contents should be helpful for the actual teaching and learning. 2. It is necessary to allot more houres for Housing, in that most teachers actually allot more time for Housing than presented in teachers’guide, and to develop more teaching aids for the effective instruction of Housing. In terms of the suitability of Housing to the students’learning development levels, the degree of suitability is in the order of the significance of housing, housing sanitation, the types of housing, the space for housing, the ground plan of housing, the arrangement of furniture. The contents about the interior decoration and gardening of the existing text book have turned out not to be appropriate.. In terms of the relation between the place of residence and the curriculum, Housing is suitable for the city, but not for the farming, mining, and sea village, Teachers suggest that the content of the curriculum about Housing should be varied according to the location of the school. 3. The number of the teaching aids for Housing is in the order of picture, charts and pamphlet but not sufficient.

Written Voice in the Text: Investigating Rhetorical Patterns and Practices for English Letter Writing (텍스트 속 자신의 표현: 영어 편지글에 나타난 수사 형태와 작문 활동에 관한 탐색)

  • This study aims at exploring features of Korean university students' written text, focusing on the written voice, rhetorical patterns, and writing practices through English letters. The data comprised examples of students' English job applications, and a 'purpose-will' model was adopted for the data analysis. The findings showed that the students used unique ways of strategies to convey their voice in a recontextualized setting. Their written voice in the job applications were various, and nobody applied the Korean convention of weather opening. Their rhetorical patterns were a transformation from convergence to divergence, showing integrated patterns of written voice. Students' writing practices revealed their internal values of writing for a task, and they do not directly learn from the teacher's syllabus. This supports the sociocultural framework that learning is a situated activity in a specific discourse community. The study concludes that writing teachers should understand that life-world and learning experience can impact on students' written voice and practices.

An Analysis of Keywords on 'School Space Innovation' Policies using Text Mining - Focused on News Articles - (텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 '학교 공간 혁신' 정책 키워드 분석 - 뉴스 기사를 중심으로 -)

  • The goal of this study was to investigate the implementation and related issues of the school space innovation issued by key Korean mass media using text mining. To accomplish this goal, this study collected 519 news articles associated with the school space innovation issued by 54 Korean mass media companies. Based on this data, this study performed the frequency analysis and network analysis regarding the keywords. Based on the findings, the characteristics of school space innovation are summarized as follows: First, school space innovation has progressed in response to future education. Second, users are actively participating in school space innovation. Third, experts are supporting the innovation of school space by establishing a cooperative system. Fourth, the community is actively considering the innovation of school space. Fifth, the main projects of the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Offices of Education are actively conducted in a mix of top-down and bottom-up approaches. The findings of this study will contribute to providing a clear direction for contemporary school space innovation and implications for future research agenda and implementation.

Comparison of Online Shopping Mall BEST 100 using Exploratory Data Analysis (탐색적 자료 분석(EDA) 기법을 활용한 국내 11개 대표 온라인 쇼핑몰 BEST 100 비교)

  • Since the beginning of the first online shopping mall, BEST 100 is being provided as the core of all shopping mall websites. BEST 100 is greatly important because consumers can identify popular products at a glance. However, there are only studies using sales outcome indicators, and prior studies using BEST 100 are insignificant. Therefore, this study selected 11 online shopping malls and compared their main characteristics. As a research method, exploratory data analysis technique (EDA) was used by crawling the BEST 100 components of each shopping mall website, such as product name, price, and free shipping check. As a result, the total average price of 11 shopping malls was 72,891.41 won. Sales texts were classified into 8 categories by text mining. The most common category was the fashion part, but it is significant that the setting of the category analyzed the marketing text, not the product attribute. This study has implications for understanding the current online market flow and suggesting future directions by using EDA.
