  • Dependable functioning of dynamic networks is essential for delivering ubiquitous services. Faults are the root causes of network outages. The comparison diagnosis model, which automates fault's identification, is one of the leading approaches to attain network dependability. Most of the existing research has focused on stationary networks. Nonetheless, the time-free comparison model imposes no time constraints on the system under considerations, and it suits most of the diagnosis requirements of dynamic networks. This paper presents a novel protocol that diagnoses faulty nodes in diagnosable dynamic networks. The proposed protocol comprises two stages, a testing stage, which uses the time-free comparison model to diagnose faulty neighbour nodes, and a disseminating stage, which leverages a Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) technique to disseminate the partial view of nodes. We analysed and evaluated the performance of the proposed protocol under various scenarios, considering two metrics: communication overhead and diagnosis time. The simulation results revealed that the proposed protocol diagnoses different types of faults in dynamic networks. Compared with most related protocols, our proposed protocol has very low communication overhead and diagnosis time. These results demonstrated that the proposed protocol is energy-efficient, scalable, and robust.

  • Developers of network games have used several prediction techniques for hiding transmission delay to support the realtime requirement of network games. Nowadays many researches that are related with network game are in progress to solve delay problems more radically, such as to propose new routers architecture and transport protocols suitable to characteristics of network game traffic. So for these advanced researches the tasks to grasp the traffic characteristics of a network game are needed. In this paper we aimed to capture the traffic of MMORPG and present the statistical analysis of measured data. The measurement and the analysis were accomplished with the server of 'Lineage' that regarded as the most successful MMORPG. Next, we have implemented a traffic generator that reflects the characteristics of MMORPG and shown that the trace generated by MMORPG traffic generator had identical characteristics with actual traffic using statistical testing method. We expect that this traffic generator can be used in many researches related with a network game.

  • Wind uplift rating of roofing systems is based on standardized test methods. Roof specimens are placed in an apparatus with a specified table size (length and width) then subjected to the required wind load cycle. Currently, there is no consensus on the table size to be used by these testing protocols in spite of the fact that the table size plays a significant role in wind uplift performance. Part I of this paper presented a study with the objective to investigate the impact of table size on the performance of roofing systems. To achieve this purpose, extensive numerical experiments using the finite element method have been conducted and benchmarked with results obtained from the experimental work. The present contribution is a continuation of the previous research and can be divided into two parts: (1) Undertake additional numerical simulations for wider membranes that were not addressed in the previous works. Due to the advancement in membrane technology, wider membranes are now available in the market and are used in commercial roofing practice as it reduces installation cost and (2) Formulate a logical step to combine and generalize over 400 numerical tests and experiments on various roofing configurations and develop correction factors such that it can be of practical use to determine the wind uplift resistance of roofs.

  • This paper proposes a new test case generation technique for a nondeterministic finite state machine by improving the existing UIO sequence generation method. First, a new conformance relationis defined, which is one of prerequisites for automatic test case generation. Because fof the nondeterministic property of torpocols, the output of the systems under test is not known deterministically to the tester. Therefore, tree-like test case generation method is introduced for adaptive testing, in which the next input is selected after observing the previous output. Since the test cases are generated with regarding the inputs and outputs as separate events and are represented in tree notation, the test cases are easily converted into TTCN, the international standard test suite specification language.

To achieve this purpose, extensive numerical experiments using the finite element method have been conducted to investigate the performance of roofing systems subjected to wind uplift pressures. Numerical results were compared with results obtained from experimental work to benchmark the numerical modeling. Required table size and curves for the determinations of appropriate correction factors are suggested. This has been completed for various test configurations with thermoplastic waterproofing membranes. Development of correction factors for assemblies with thermoset and modified bituminous membranes are in progress. Generalization of the correction factors and its usage for wind uplift rating of roofs will be the focus of a future paper.

  • In this paper, multiplexing automation system will be proposed for the automobile electromotive mirror using CAN(Controller Area Network) protocol which has been known that it has a high reliability on the signal in the various network protocols. To do this, a master controller and two (input/output) slave controllers (H/W) are being made and application layer (S/W) is being programmed for effective going and communicating between subsystems. The possibility of the effectiveness of application and control ability will be shown when the system has minimum electrical lines by testing the experimental systems which was made up of the automobile electromotive mirror.

  • Many studies are undertaken into nuclear power plants (NPPs) in preparation for accidents exceeding design standards. In this paper, we analyze the applicability of various wireless communication technologies as accident countermeasures in different NPP environments. In particular, a commercial wireless communication module (WCM) is investigated by measuring leakage current and packet error rate (PER), which vary depending on the intensity of incident radiation on the module, by testing at a Co-60 gamma-ray irradiation facility. The experimental results show that the WCMs continued to operate after total doses of 940 and 1097 Gy, with PERs of 3.6% and 0.8%, when exposed to irradiation dose rates of 185 and 486 Gy/h, respectively. In short, the lower irradiation dose rate decreased the performance of WCMs more than the higher dose rate. In experiments comparing the two communication protocols of request/response and one-way, the WCMs survived up to 997 and 1177 Gy, with PERs of 2% and 0%, respectively. Since the request/response protocol uses both the transmitter and the receiver, while the one-way protocol uses only the transmitter, then the electronic system on the side of the receiver is more vulnerable to radiation effects. From our experiments, the tested module is expected to be used for design-based accidents (DBAs) of "Category A" type, and has confirmed the possibility of using wireless communication systems in NPPs.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to compare the Vickers hardness on the denture acrylic resins using the glaze color system. Methods: The specimens (20×2 mm) were prepared by mixing according to the manufacturer's protocols through thermal polymerization and self-polymerization. The surface roughness was measured using a testing machine after water-soaking for 48 hours. For the Vickers hardness measurement, the completed specimen was soaked in water for 48 hours and then applied at 200 gf for 30 seconds. Was the specimen immersed after being soaked in water for 48 hours at temperatures of 5℃ and 55℃, respectively, for 30 seconds for the thermos-cycling treatment, and it was carried out 5,000 times. Results: Surface roughness was higher in the more glazing group than in the control group. A significant difference was observed in all groups, except for the Retec Don 2000 and Luciton 199 groups (p<0.05). As a result of measuring the Vickers hardness, the treatment by glaze color showed slightly lower but the thermo-cycling treatment group appeared higher than control group in all. Conclusion: Therefore, the glaze color was found to affect the surface roughness and showed a significant difference. The surface glaze color showed a very high Vickers hardness after the thermo-cycling treatment, indicating that the surface-strengthening effect is greater in the oral environment.

  • With the development of autonomous driving technology, the number of external contact sensors mounted on vehicles is increasing, and the importance is also rising. The vehicular ultrasonic sensor uses the LIN protocol in the form of a bus topology and reports a status message about its surroundings through the vehicle's internal network. Since ultrasonic sensors are vulnerable to various threats due to poor security protocols, physical testing on actual vehicle is needed. Therefore, this paper developed a LIN-CAN co-analysis testbed with a jig for location-specific distance test to examine the operational relation between LIN and CAN caused by ultrasonic sensors.
