  • Modal testing and analysis is a primary tool for obtaining reliable models to represent the dynamics of structures. When a structure is tested in order to collect measured data in modal testing, we usually use attached accelerometers to pick up the response data. Change in modal parameters due to the mass of transducers in modal testing is a well-known problem. The disadvantages are the shift of measured modal frequencies and the change of modal shapes, which can cause inaccurate results in further analysis. Modal analysis methods in frequency domain are based on a set of measured frequency response functions(FRF).(omitted)

  • The testing tools implemented up to now for the LDAP(Light-weight Directory Access Protocol) interoperability tests are not easy to modify or add new test items since their source codes are not open. The object-oriented approach, therefore, is required to implement such a testing tool which can be easily modified or add new test items. Thus we designed the architecture for the testing tool applying the object-oriented approach. Java language, appropriate for the object-oriented approach, was used to implement the testing tool. The newly implemented testing tool can modify partly to adapt to the already stored data in the test suite information even during tests. Five LDAP servers can be tested simultaneously with the same configuration setup. Actual testing for the two LDAP servers validates the usefulness of the designed architecture with the proper working of the implemented testing tool according to the architecture.

  • This research aims at a new practical Intent fuzzing tool for detecting Intent vulnerabilities of Android apps causing the robustness problem. We proposed two new ideas. First, we designed an Intent specification language to describe the structure of Intent, which makes our Intent fuzz testing tool flexible. Second, we proposed an automatic tally method classifying unique failures. With the two ideas, we implemented an Intent fuzz testing tool called Hwacha, and evaluated it with 50 commercial Android apps. Our tool offers an arbitrary combination of automatic and manual Intent generators with executors such as ADB and JUnit due to the use of the Intent specification language. The automatic tally method excluded almost 80% of duplicate failures in our experiment, reducing efforts of testers very much in review of failures. The tool uncovered more than 400 unique failures including what is unknown so far. We also measured execution time for Intent fuzz testing, which has been rarely reported before. Our tool is practical because the whole procedure of fuzz testing is fully automatic and the tool is applicable to the large number of Android apps with no human intervention.

  • The systematic testing is frequently regretted in recent web applications because of time and cost pressure. Moreover developers have difficulties with applying the traditional testing techniques to testing web application. The approach of creating test cases for a web application from a sequence model is proposed for the rapid and efficient testing. Test cases for web application are extracted from call messages (including self-call messages) of UML (Unified Modeling Language) sequence diagram. A test case consists of messages, script functions, or server pages and additional values. Moreover a simple testing tool for web application is proposed. A URL for testing web application is created and executed by this testing tool. The URL consists of server page address and additional values. This test tool is made using Microsoft Visual Basic. The efficiency of proposed method and tool has been shown using a practical case study which reflects the development project of the web application for supporting member management.

  • Due to the rapid development of open source based Cloud management platforms such as OpenStack, many and various individuals and institutions are trying to construct Cloud computing systems based on open source software projects. It is essential, for those who install, administrate or operate a Cloud, to validate the integrity of the constructed Cloud system. This paper, therefore, proposes the design of a testing tool for validating the integrity of a constructed OpenStack-based Cloud system. Especially, the proposed testing tool utilizes the Tempest project which is an open source project that consists of OpenStack test cases. The proposed testing tool is expected to help developing Cloud technology and Cloud users.

  • In accordance with the development of recent computer technology, railway signaling software became more complex for the intellectualization. Therefore the importance and dependency of railway signaling system on the computer software is getting more increased further, and the testing for the safety and reliability of railway signaling system software became more important. It is started to become influential as very important issue for the reliability and safety of vital embedded software like railway signaling system. The software coding which can have an effect on the safety at the coding level of software shall not be included preferentially, for the safety of software, and must be checked. This thesis suggested an automated testing tool for coding rules on this railway signaling system software, and presented its applied result for railway signaling system software. The testing items in the implemented tool had referred to the international standards in relation to the software for railway system and MISRA-C standards. This automated testing tool for railway signaling system can be utilized at the assessment stage for railway signaling system software also, and it is anticipated that it can be utilized usefully at the software development stage also.

  • It is very important to assure the software quality. The static and dynamic testing are to be performed on the program to find some error in it, and it's purposes are to assure the software quality with cost-effectiveness.   • In order to test reflecting the features of a development methodology and domain, it is required to tailor process standards and perform testing according to the tailored process. However, since commercial testing tools support only a part of the tailored process, it is essential to either acquire or develop testing tools appropriate for a development environment. This paper proposes a method to develop a test process execution tool which has common features of standards, and variousness in methodologies and domains. ‘Test Process Execution Tool: Test PET’ which is a test process execution tool developed adapting the concept of product line. Our Test PET generates the test process suitable for the development methodology and domain and then executes the produced test process.

  • During the past decade, the Quick Tool-Life Testing Method has been studied. However, a generalized theory and testing method for the quantitative measurement of tool wear have not been developed yet. Among many factors to affect the tool wear, the flank wear is regarded as a main factor. In this study, the behavior of the flank wear for carbide tool was studied as a preceding step to present a simple method for Quick Tool-Life Testing, and it was found that the flank wear varies in direct proportion to cutting time, and the following general equation is obtained for the flank wear curves with respect to cutting time and velociety.

  • The objective of the proposed study is to produce a tool-condition monitoring (TCM) strategy that will lead to a more efficient and economical drilling tool usage. Drill-wear monitoring is an important attribute in the automatic cutting processes as it can help preventing damages of the tools and workpieces and optimizing the tool usage. This study presents the architectures of a multi-layer feed-forward neural network with back-propagation training algorithm for the monitoring of drill wear. The input features to the neural networks were extracted from the AE signals using the wavelet transform analysis. Training and testing were performed under a moderate range of cutting conditions in the dry drilling of steel plates. The results indicated that the extracted input features from AE signals to the supervised neural networks were effective for drill wear monitoring and the output of the neural networks could be utilized for the tool life management planning.
