Recently, as the market for SMART TV expands, the camera is embedded for providing various user experience. However, this leads to occurrence of camera failure due to TV power up sequence problem, which are usually not detectable in conventional test equipments. Although the failure-detection can be possible by re-generating control signals for audio interface with new equipment, it is expensive and also requires much time to test. In this paper, for SMART TV, FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)-based failure-detection system is proposed which can lead to reduction of both cost and time for test.
We evaluated the usefulness of DNA microarray as a comparative genomics tool, and tested the validity of the cutoff values for defining absent genes in test genomes. Three genome-sequenced E. coli strains (K-12, EDL933, and CFT073) were subjected to comparative genomic hybridization with DNA microarrays covering almost all ORFs of the reference strain K-12, and the microarray results were compared with the results obtained from in silico analyses of genome sequences. For defining the K-12 ORFs absent in test genomes (reference strain-specific ORFs), we applied and evaluated the cutoff level of -1. The average sequence similarity between ORFs, to which corresponding spots showed a log-ratio of>-1, was $96.9{\pm}4.8$. The numbers of spots showing a log-ratio of <-1 (P<0.05, t-test) were 90 (2.5%) and 417 (10.6%) for the EDL933 genome and the CFT073 genome, respectively. Frequency of false negatives (FN) was ca. 0.2, and the cutoff level of -1.3 was required to achieve the FN of 0.1. The average sequence similarity of the false negative ORFs was $77.8{\pm}14.8$, indicating that the majority of the false negatives were caused by highly divergent genes. We concluded that the microarray is useful for identifying missing or divergent ORFs in closely related prokaryotic genomes.

In this paper, we are concerned with the problems of fault- detection for combinational logic networks. The method which we can obtain the complete test sets using propagation of primitive test sets is presented by considering the relation between test sets of each line. A new method is proposed that can detect the fault through the observation of the output variance by applying only the test sets equivalent to the number of inputs We found that the method is much improved compared to the conventional fault detecting procedure that requires applying the complete test sets to the logic networks.

Protocol testing techniques are expanded from the traditional simple function- testing based on the OSI model, to sophisticated performance testing, conformance testing and interoperability testing. In addition, both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint protocols are to be covered. This paper presents a new multiple-purpose protocol test system where the common platform includes the test sequence generation and test result analysis, and the modular test execution part is selectively adjusted according to the test purposes and protocols under test. This paper describes test system for network routing protocol and test system for transport protocol, designed upon the ideas of the multiple-purpose protocol test system.

This article presents an independence test between pairs of interval censored failure times. The Mantel-Haenszel test is commonly applied to test the independence between two categorical variables accompanied with a strata variable. Hsu and Prentice (1996) applied a Mantel-Haenszel test to the sequence of 2 × 2 tables formed at the grids which are composed of failure times. In this article, due to unknown failure times, the suitable grid points should be determined and the status of failure and at risk are estimated at those grid points. We also consider a weighted test statistic to bring a more powerful test. Simulation studies are performed to evaluate the power of test statistics under finite samples. The method is applied to analyze two real data sets, mastitis data from milk cows and an age-related eye disease study.
The aim of this work was to investigate the N-terminal amino acid sequence of catechol 2,3-dioxygenase isolated from Delftia sp. JK-2, which could utilize aniline as sole carbon, nitrogen and energy source. Molecular weight of the enzyme was determined to approximately 35 kDa by SDS-PAGE. N-terminal amino acid sequence of C2,3O from strain JK-2 was $^1MGVMRIGHASLKVMDMDAAVRHYENV^{26}$, and exhibited high sequence similarity with that of C2,3O from Pseudomonas sp., Comamonas sp. JS765, Comamonas test-osteroni, or Burkholderia sp. RP007. Approximately 950-bp C2,3O was obtained through PCR using the primers derived from N-terminal amino acid sequence. Analysis of the DNA sequence revealed that the deduced 296 amino acid sequences were determined, and it showed $100\%$ identity with C2,3O from Pseudomonas sp. AW-2 and $97\%$ similarity with Comamonas sp. JS765.
With the recent development of artificial intelligence, a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model that is efficient with time-series analysis is being used to increase the accuracy of predicting the inflow of dams. In this study, we predict the inflow of the Soyang River dam, using the LSTM model with the Sequence-to-Sequence (LSTM-s2s) and attention mechanism (LSTM-s2s with attention) that can further improve the LSTM performance. Hourly inflow, temperature, and precipitation data from 2013 to 2020 were used to train the model, and validate and test for evaluating the performance of the models. As a result, the LSTM-s2s with attention showed better performance than the LSTM-s2s in general as well as in predicting a peak value. Both models captured the inflow pattern during the peaks but detailed hourly variability is limitedly simulated. We conclude that the proposed LSTM-s2s with attention can improve inflow forecasting despite its limits in hourly prediction.

Objective: Experiments were conducted to clone the sequence of Wild Argali short palate, lung and nasal epithelium clone 1 (SPLUNC1) cDNA, and to lay the foundation for further study the biological function of Wild Argali SPLUNC1. Methods: The complete sequence of Wild Argali SPLUNC1 cDNA was generated by rapid amplification of cDNA ends. The entire coding sequence was inserted into the pPIC9K vector and expressed in Pichia pastoris (P. pastoris) GS115. The recombinant SPLUNC1 protein was detected by Western blot and purified by $Ni^{2+}$ chelate affinity chromatography. The test of effect of the protein on Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae (MO) was performed with real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results: The Wild Argali SPLUNC1 cDNA was 1,076 bp with an open reading frame of 768 bp, which encoded a 26.49 kDa protein composed of 255 amino acids. Its amino acid sequence shared 98.4%, 96.9%, 94.5%, 90.2%, 80.8%, 78.4%, 78.3%, 72.5%, 72.3%, 68.8% identity with those of SPLUNC1 cDNA from Ovis aries (accession no. NP_001288334.1), Capra hircus (accession no. XP_005688516.1), Pantholops hodgsonii (accession no. XP_005979709.1), Bos taurus (accession no. NP_776851.1), Felis catus (accession no. XP_006929910.1), Homo sapiens (accession no. NP_001230122.1), Sus scrofa (accession no. NP_001005727.1), Chinchilla lanigera (accession no. NP_001269294.1), Mus musculus (accession no. NP_035256.2), and Rattus norvegicus (accession no. NP_742028.1), respectively. The recombinant protein corresponded to the expected molecular mass of 25.47 kDa as judged by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and it was detected in the supernatant of P. pastoris, and it could be purified. The results from the test of inhibition effect of argali recombinant SPLUNC1 protein on MO showed that the product could inhibit MO very well (p<0.01). Conclusion: The amino acid sequence of Wild Argali SPLUNC1 was different from other organisms. The recombinant SPLUNC1 protein has good biological activity.

In order to improve occupant protection in frontal crash, the IIHS introduced a small overlap frontal crash test in 2012. When the front corner of a car collides with another car or object, such as utility pole the test replicated the sequence of events. Because occupants move simultaneously forward and toward the side of the vehicle this test is challenging for some airbag and safety belt designs. In the small overlap frontal test, a car travels at 64 km/h toward a rigid barrier. A hybrid III dummy is positioned in the driver seat. 25% of the total width of the car strikes the barrier on the driver side. After review of small overlap frontal test protocol and overall rating, six run-throughs were performed according to the original test method.
