  • This paper is concerned with the nonlinear hyperelastic problem fur the incompressible characteristics of the rubber. Tension sensor is a strain gage type load cell element for a fence intrusion detection system and consists of the sensing part and the rubber housing. The analysis includes an elastic analysis and a hyperelastic analysis of a tension sensor for the deformed shape and variation of the maximum strain on the sensing part with respect to the vertical load. Numerical results show that the hyperelastic model is stiffer and less deformed than the elastic model. Comparing with the experimental test data, we know the hyperelastic model is the better approximation than the elastic model.

  • Strain energy function of the isoprene rubber was accurately determined by the experiments of uniaxial tension, planar tension, biaxial tension and volumetric compression. Deformation behavior of alternatively laminated structure of elastomer and reinforced aluminium layers, was analysed by Finite Element method. As a result, Ogden strain energy function obtained from the experiments describes the hyperelastic characteristics of the rubber very well. The compressibility of the rubber reduces axial stiffness of the structure. The axial stiffness of alternatively laminated structure being larger than shear stiffness. Which enables the structure to be shear-deformed easily.

  • The Jonhnson-Cook constitutive relation has been used in dynamic plasticities. The constants of the Jonhson-Cook relation of sheet metals for an autobody is not known yet. In this paper, the material properties of SPCEN, SPCC and SPRC in the high strain rate states have been acquired. A new tension split Hopkinson bar was used in high speed tensile tests of sheet metals. The experimental results acquired from the apparatus are used to determine the constants of Johnson-Cook constitutive relation of sheet metals. This results can be used to analysis of crashworthness.

  • An analytical model which can simulate the post-cracking nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) members such as bars and panels subjected to uniaxial and biaxial tensile stresses is presented. The proposed model includes the description of biaxial failure criteria and the average stress-strain relation of reinforcing steel. Based on strain distribution functions of steel and concrete after cracking, average response of an embedded reinforcement, a criterion to consider the tension-stiffening effect is proposed using the concept of average stresses and strains. The validity of the introduced model is established by comparing the analytical predictions for reinforced concrete tension members with results from experimental studies. Finally, correlation studies between analytical results and experimental data from biaxial tension test are conducted with the objective to establish the validity of the proposed models and identify the significance of various effects on the response of biaxially loaded reinforced concrete panels.

Investigations on the bearing strength of stainless steel bolted plates under in-plane tension

  • This paper presents a study on the behavior and design of bolted stainless steel plates under in-plane tension. Using an experimentally validated finite element (FE) program strength of stainless steel bolted plates under tension is examined with an emphasis on plate bearing mode of failure. A numerical parametric study was carried out which includes examining the behavior of stainless steel plate models with various proportions, bolt locations and in two different material grades. The models were designed to fail particularly in bolt tear-out and material piling-up modes. In the numerical simulation of the models, non-linear stress-strain material behavior of stainless steel was considered by using expressions which represent the full range of strains up to the ultimate tensile strain. Using the results of the parametric study, the effect of variations in bolt positions, such as end and edge distance and bolt pitch distance on bearing resistance of stainless steel bolted plates under in-plane tension has been investigated. Finally, the results obtained are critically examined using design estimations of the currently available international design guidance.

크리프 균열 성장 실험을 위한 소성 변위 결정법 (Plastic Displacement Estimates in Creep Crack Growth Testing)

  • The ASTM test standard recommends the use of the compact tension specimen for creep crack growth rates measurement. In the creep crack growth rate test, the displacement rate due to creep is obtained by subtracting the contribution of elastic and plastic components from the total load line displacement rate based on displacement partitioning method fur determining $C^*-integral$, which involves Ramberg-Osgood (R-O) fitting procedures. This paper investigates the effect of the R-O fitting procedures on plastic displacement rate estimates in creep crack growth testing, via detailed two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element analyses of the standard compact tension specimen. Four different R-O fitting procedures are considered; (i) fitting the entire true stress-strain data up to the ultimate tensile strength, (ii) fitting the true stress-strain data from 0.1% strain to 0.8 of the true ultimate strain, (iii) fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain, and (iv) fitting the engineering stress-strain data. It is found that the last two procedures provide reasonably accurate plastic displacement rates and thus should be recommended in creep crack growth testing. Moreover, several advantages of fitting the engineering stress-strain data over fitting the true stress-strain data only up to 5% strain are discussed.

  • The crystal structure of magnesium was hexagonal close-packed (HCP), so its formability was poor at room temperature. But formability was improved in high temperature with increasing of the slip planes. Purpose of this paper was to know about the mechanical properties of magnesium alloy (AZ31B), before warm and hot forming process. The mechanical properties were defined by the tension and compression tests in various temperature and strain-rate. As the temperature was increased, yield·ultimate strength, K-value, work hardening exponent (n) and anisotropy factor (R) were decreased. But strain rate sensitivity (m) was increased. As strain-rate increased, yield·ultimate strength, K-value, and work hardening exponent (n) were increased. Also, microstructures of grains fined away at high strain-rate. These results would be used in simulations and manufacturing factor fer warm and hot forming process.

이중하중을 받는 S45C의 피로거동에 관한 연구

  • Thin walled tubular specimens of 0.45% structural carbon steel were used in the bizxial tests. Biaxial fatigue tosts were conducted on strain control including fully reversed tension-compression and in phase tension torsion loadings. The predictions of the biaxial fatigue life were based upon the uniaxial low cycle fatigue test results. Fatigue lives were ranged from 10$\^$2/to 10$\^$5/cycles. Four multiaxial strain based theories have been developed to correlate biaxial fatigue experimdntal results. These theories showed good correlatins except for maximum shear strain theory. In uniaxial tests, crack behavior was observed that crack initiated in the maximum shear strain direction and propagated in the direction perpendicular to principal stross. But, in biaxial tests, both crack initiation and growth occured on the maximum shear strain direction only.

순환골재와 폐주물사를 활용한 철근콘크리트보의 휨거동에 관한 실험연구 (Experimental Study of Flexural Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beam Using WFS and Recycled Aggregate)

  • For the recycling of the resources and the preservation of the environment, this study's purpose is to measure flexural behavior of the reinforced concrete beams with the major variables like concrete strength, replacement ratio of the recycled aggregate and the waste foundry sand and the tension reinforcement ratio and to present the data of the recycled aggregate used for the structure design. The experiment on the flexural behavior resulted in the followings. The ultimate strength of recycled R/C beam was manipulated proportionate to the tension reinforcement ratio, however the strength instantly decreased after passing the ultimate load due to the destroyed concrete of the compression side. The deflection at the maximum load varied from the tension reinforcement ratio by 5.5 times. The test specimen with the tension reinforcement ratio less than $0.5{\rho}b$ showed constant curve without change in the load from the yield to the ultimate load in contrast to the distinctive plastic region where the displacement was rising. Although the strain of main tension steel with the reinforcement ratio indicate different, the design of recycled concrete member can be applied for current design code for reinforced concrete structure as the ratio of tension reinforcement district the under the reinforcement ration in a balanced strain condition.
