  • Technology innovations have been accelerating changes across industries and intensifying competition. Enterprises are therefore required to continuously secure their internal and external competitiveness. Based on the principle that core competencies of a firm are essential to its competitiveness, many research studies have been conducted to figure out the effect of core competencies to business performance. However, individual research works considered a part of core competencies or limited to a specific industry, which means that their findings may differ when additional core competencies are included in their analysis. After re-establishing the definition of each core competency from literature review, this study comprehensively investigated the effect relationship among core competencies and business performance. Structural equation modeling and multiple regression analysis with 421 survey respondents from various industries were conducted for our empirical study.

  • In this study, we collaborated with the National Library of Korea's Library Education Institute to pilot the operation of a librarian learning community and aimed to measure its effectiveness based on the improvement of librarian competencies. A total of 28 participants attended four programs, and the research results are as follows: First, when analyzing competencies in terms of community capacity, attitude competency was the highest, followed by knowledge and skills competencies in that order. The correlation analysis among competencies showed that there were mutual correlations among the three competencies. Second, in the pre-post analysis of the three competencies and their sub-competencies, it was found that all competencies, including sub-competencies, improved. Based on the research results, it was confirmed that through the operation of the librarian learning community, the average competencies of librarians can be improved, which can directly impact the enhancement of the library's service capabilities. Therefore, it is believed that there is a need to activate the operation of librarian learning communities and explore nationwide dissemination strategies for the operating model.

As a result of the research, we found that the MEMTMC is significant statistically to evaluate the technology management competencies of firms from a practical point of view. Additionally, these findings suggest that firms can build up their technology management competencies, including the vision and strategy, leadership, resources, projects, performance management, and systematic procedures in order to raise their maturity level of technology management competencies. But this research has some limitations such as this MEMTMC has not considered separately the variety of industry, not enough survey respondents and 5 level group firms etc.

Therefore, they were identified as a core competencies that need to be improved first. In addition, the characteristics of each core competency and the recognition level in the field were also identified. This study will be helpful in defining the roles and functions of aircraft maintenance quality engineers to improve flight quality and prevent aviation accidents.

  • The purpose of this study is to measure the level of the key competencies of industrial high school students and to use it as the basic material so as to improve the key competencies. The subject was 359 industrial high school students(boys: 244, girls: 115) in Seoul, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Busan. The instrument used to measure the key competencies is that developed by Cheol-Young Jeong, which was partly revised with the help of a group of experts. The results of this study showed some of skills were below an average of 3.0, which were writting skill(M=2.85) and speaking skill(M=2.96) in communication skills, logical thinking(M=2.98) in problem solving skills, leadership skill(M=2.88) in interpersonal skills, and self-improvement skill(M=2.96) and the spirit of public service(M=2.93) in self-management and self-improvement skills. But technology skills were above an average of 3.0. And it appeared that technology skills(P=.023) depended on having a certificate or not, and so did communication skills(P=.020) and problem solving skills(P=.034) on the types of a course(employment or entrance into a college). So, to strengthen the key competencies which appeared below an average of 3.0 in this study, not only does the curriculum of industrial high schools need to be reorganized, but systematic strengthening program of key competencies should also be developed.
