  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review and to describe the characteristics of child abuse screening instruments. Methods: Articles regarding the development of a child abuse screening instrument were investigated using the systematic review method. A literature search using the keywords "child and abuse or maltreatment and instrument or screening tool" in English, and "child," "abuse," and "instrument" in Korean, was conducted of material published in PubMed, PsycINFO, CINAHL, SCOPUS, ERIC, and RISS. Database and bibliographic searches, and quality appraisal using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies tool that included systemic reviews, yielded 17 records. Results: Key elementary child abuse screening instruments were developed for physical, psychiatric, affective and sexual and child neglect assessment. The instruments' target populations were children at home and in institutions. The reviewed instruments had the advantage of diagnosing past, concurrent, and indirectly, potential child abuse. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrate that child abuse screening instruments are available for screening and for assessment of abused children in various circumstances. This review of child abuse screening instruments offers evidence for the acceptable use of optimal psychometric tools for child abuse assessment and provides guidelines for child health nursing practice.

  • Increasing attention has been paid to rheological approaches in the food industry due to great awareness of the quality control of foods by objective analysis. Therefore, a lot of food manufacturers started to make a great of effort to instrumentally investigate the rheological properties of foods. However, the appropriate utilization of rheological instruments in the field of food science has been met with numerous technical challenges because of the lack of fundamental knowledge and knowhow. In this article, a variety of rheological instruments conventionally used in the food industry are reviewed. In addition, new rheological instruments that have been rapidly growing in popularity are introduced for potential applications. This article may provide an opportunity for the food industry to move toward the active utilization of rheological instruments.

  • This study develops a framework and instruments to diagnose the current knowledge management(KM) status of an organization and to suggest future KM implementation directions. Based on the comprehensive review of KM literature and KM case studies, we derive three main aspects(strategic, social and technical aspect) and seven critical factors(KM strategy, knowledge worker, organizational strucuture, organizational culture, KM processe, organizational knowledge, and information technology) for the successful KM implementation. The instruments developed in this study include every specific measurement items of each critical success factor, which are expected to help not only suggest a context-sensitive KM strategy but also evaluate current KM status of a designated organization. By introducing two dimensions of KM evaluation(effectiveness and necessity), a more holistic and contingent view of KM can be assured. Academic contributions as well as practical implications are discussed. Study limitations and future research directions are also provided.

  • In this paper, we propose an analysis of the sound source of virtual orchestral music in detail by using the production technology of sampling and playback, and technical experiments and verification for the most advanced Hollywood Library series of timbre and the timbre production and control technology of Vienna instrument Pro and other softwares, to find their solutions and come up with the best timbre production method for orchestral music from the perspective of the specific design ideas of the productions of virtual orchestral instruments. The so-called virtual orchestral instruments are non-real orchestral instruments, which are based on the imitation of timbre of real orchestral instruments, processed and synthesized through the scientific and technological means, and produced by the use of electronic equipments or computers. The study of virtual timbre production technology is very important, and it is like the study of composers' creative techniques. Not only scientific and advanced timbre production methods can be obtained from the study, but also new ways of future timbre production are expected to be explored.

  • Although colonoscopy was originally a diagnostic imaging procedure, it has now expanded to include an increasing range of therapeutic interventions. These procedures require precise maneuvers of instruments, execution of force, efficient transmission of force from the operator to the point of application, and sufficient dexterity in the mobilization of endoscopic surgical instruments. The conventional endoscope is not designed to support technically demanding endoscopic procedures. In case of colonoscopy, the tortuous anatomy of the colon makes inserting, moving, and orientating the endoscope difficult. Exerting excessive pressure can cause looping of the endoscope, pain to the patient, and even perforation of the colon. To mitigate the technical constraints, numerous technically enhanced systems have been developed to enable better control of instruments and precise delivery of force in the execution of surgical tasks such as apposing, grasping, traction, counter-traction, and cutting of tissues. Among the recent developments are highly dexterous robotic master and slave systems, computer-assisted or robotically enhanced conventional endoscopes, and autonomously driven locomotion devices that can effortlessly traverse the colon. Developments in endoscopic instrumentations have overcome technical barriers and opened new horizons for further advancements in therapeutic interventions. This review describes examples of some of these systems in the context of their applications to advanced therapeutic colonoscopy.

  • A novel body-worn spiral monopole antenna is presented. The antenna consists of a ground plane and a spiral monopole. The antenna was designed for Ear-to-Ear (E2E) communication between In-the-Ear (ITE) hearing instruments at 2.45 GHz and has been simulated, prototyped, and measured. The antenna yielded a measured and simulated E2E path gain at 2.45 GHz of -82.1 dB and -85.9 dB, respectively. The radiation pattern of the antenna when mounted in the ear is presented and discussed.

  • One of the characteristics in math -abstract concept- makes the students find difficulties in understanding general ideas about math. This study is about how much do the modeling lessons using the technical instruments which is based on the realistic mathematical theory influence on understanding the mathematical concept. This study is based on one of the contents the first grade of middle school students study, the function, especially the meaning of it. Some brilliant students being the objects of this study, mathematically experimental modeling lesson was planned, conducted. Survey on the students' attitudes about math before and after the modeling classes and Questionnaire survey on the effectiveness about the modeling class were conducted and their attitudes were recorded also. This study tells that students show very meaningful changes before and after the modeling class and scientific knowledge seems to be very helpful for the students to understand the mathematical concept and solve the problems. When scientific research and development get together with mathematics, students will be more motivated and be able to form the right mathematical concept easily.

  • There are many test parameters in the DTV measurement, which uses several test measuring instruments and miscellaneous devices. To operate all of those devices and analyse test results is a tedious and time-consuming process with a high error rate committed by inexperienced test crews. In this paper, we propose an integrated DTV measurement and analysis system(IMAS) that remotely controls and manages any instruments with standard network interface. This system can take, organize, store the field data into an integrated database and easily produce systematic output according to user-defined form. It can also measure several types of digital broadcasting signals such as DTV, DMB, DAB with generalized measurement procedures. Proposed measurement system was applied in the DTV field test by KBS and proved that it could enhance the accuracy and efficiency of entire test sequences and also dramatically reduce measurement time compared to conventional measurement systems.
