The purposes of the study were to develop instructional materials based on Freudenthal's guided reinvention principle for teaching proofs and to investigate how the teaching method based on guided reinvention principle affects on 8th grade students' ability to write proofs and learning attitude toward proofs. Teaching based on guided reinvention principle placed emphasis on providing students opportunities to make a mathematical statement and prove the statement by themselves throughout various activities such as exploring, conjecturing, and testing the conjectures. The study found that students who studied proving with instructional materials developed by guided reinvention principle showed statistically higher mean scores on the posttest than students who studied by a traditional teaching method depending onteacher's explanation. Especially, on the posttest item which requested to prove a whole statement without presenting a picture corresponding to the statement, a big difference among students' responses was found. Many more students in the traditional group did not provide any response on the item. According to the results of the questionnaire regarding students' learning attitudes, the group who studied proving by guided reinvention principle indicated relatively more positive attitudes toward learning proofs than the counterparts.
This paper is to help the students in elementary schools develop and improve their English listening and speaking skills by presenting effective teaching and learning techniques using puppetry. It is absolutely obvious that listening and speaking are very important skills for most EFL students. Using puppets in the classroom is a creative English teaching technique which can involve authentic, communicative language situations. Moreover, puppets appeal to children and can aid in lowering affective filters thereby creating a more comfortable learning environment. The study clearly showed that using puppets is feasible and enjoyable in elementary English classes. However, caution must be exercised in drawing and generalizing conclusions from this experience. The results of the experiment are as follows: First, using puppetry in the English class was found to have positive influence on students' affective domains (interst, attitude). Second, using puppets in the English classes was found to be efficient for improving students' English listening and speaking skills. Third, appropriate materials should be selected and well thought-out plans should be made to be successful English class using puppetry. Perhaps the most interesting line of future research is to use qualitative research to examine the effect of this technique on the teacher variable. Further research is recommended, especially on using puppetry for speaking proficiency and creating affectively comfortable learning atmospheres.
The purpose of this paper was to analyze the example spaces related with the concepts of triangles in the 2nd grade Korean elementary mathematics textbooks, investigate the meaning of example spaces, and suggest the implications to teaching and learning geometrical concepts in the elementary schools. Mathematics textbooks are usually major materials in teaching and learning mathematics in Korea, and the content of the textbooks affects the quality of teaching and learning in the classroom. The results of the study showed that the Korean elementary textbooks provided examples with limited example spaces concerning the concepts of triangles. The researcher suggested that we should provide rich examples spaces, encourage learner-generated example spaces, and strengthen the connections of examples between in textbooks and in the classroom.
The purpose of this study is to examine the perceptions and needs of the 2015 revised curriculum for elementary school teachers and to draw implications for the application of the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. For this, the major changes in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum were examined. Major changes in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum are as follows: 1) Introduce and emphasize mathematical competencies, 2) Restructure the content system, 3) Reduce mathematics contents to teach, 4) Emphasize the learner's affective domain, 5) Emphasize the use of technology, 6) Improve teaching and learning methods and evaluation methods. Also, a survey was conducted for elementary school teachers to analyze the perceptions and demands of the 2015 Revised Mathematics Curriculum. The contents of the survey are consisted of contents of the teachers' awareness of the main changes of the 2015 Revised Curriculum and their demands to implement the 2015 Revised Curriculum in schools. Finally, conclusions and suggestions were drawn based on the survey results. The conclusions and suggestions are as follows: 1) there is a lack of teachers' awareness of the 2015 Revised Curriculum, 2) Support for mathematics curriculum competencies is needed, 3) A variety of teaching and learning materials are needed for emphasizing the learner's affective domain, using the technology, and improving teaching and learning methods and evaluation methods.

This study proposed the information security integrated learning model-based KASP. By analyzing the teaching materials regarding information security in the regular curriculum, and by investigating preliminary studies, the information security contents were examined in terms of knowledge, attitudes, skills and ways to practice(KASP). And, the KASP-information security learning model integrating knowledge, attitudes, and ways to practice was developed, and the teaching plan and learning material hand-out were accordingly made out. Moreover, the developed model was tested in an experimental group, and common information security learning content centered on ethics in the comparison group in order to compare the results of two groups. As the test result analysis, it was verified that the developed KASP-information security integrated learning model was effective to help the students learn the knowledge, attitudes, skills and ways to practice.

The purpose of this research is to compare the effect of unplugged learning method with traditional lecture method on intellectual disability students' informatics education achievement. For this goal, we developed a new unplugged learning method and new appropriate teach-learning materials that can improve the intellectual disability students' informatics education achievement. We randomly divided special school specialized course freshman into the experimental group and the control group. We applied unplugged learning method to the experimental group and lecture teaching method to the control group. According to these results, Intellectual disability students participated in task interestingly and spontaneously. It has been proved that the teaching-learning materials applied unplugged learning method were helpful for intellectual disability students' informatics education achievement.
In this study, 45 pre-service mathematics teachers were surveyed about how the perception of knowledge through teaching practicum have changed and how the knowledge learned in college and teaching practicum helped to format teachers' knowledge and analyzed survey's result. Pre-service mathematics teachers felt the knowledge for understanding students were needed the most and considered the experiences from teaching practicum were more useful than the knowledge learned from college classes. However, they had low appreciations on connecting knowledge on learned contents with real-life or other subjects and on necessity of knowledge of using various learning tools or mathematical materials in class. Also, they have answered the knowledges from college classes and teaching practicum were useless in those areas. Especially, they pointed out that guidance teachers during teaching practicum were insufficient in instructing. Therefore, we suggest the following two to improve the teaching ability of pre-service mathematics teachers through teaching practicum. First, college and secondary school cooperating programs such as class-observation and student-mentor system connected with local society should be developed. Second, the special re-training program for guidance teachers of teaching practicum is needed.
This study presents the process and outcomes of developing mathematical-informatics linkage·convergence class materials, based on previous research findings that indicate a lack of such materials in high schools despite the increasing need for development of interdisciplinary linkage·convergence class materials In particular, this research provides insights into the discussions of six teachers who participated in the same professional learning community program, aiming to create materials that are suitable for linkage·convergence class materials and highly practical for classroom implementation. Following the material development process, a theme-based design model was applied to create the materials. In alignment with prior research and consensus among teacher learning community members, mathematics and informatics teachers developed instructional materials that can be utilized together during a 100-minute block lesson. The developed materials utilize societal issue contexts to establish links between the two subjects, enabling students to engage in problem-solving through mathematical modeling and coding. To increase the validity and practicality of the developed resources during their field application, CVR verification was conducted involving field teachers. Incorporating the results of the CVR verification, the finalized instructional materials were presented in the form of a teaching guide. Furthermore, we aimed to provide insights into the trial-and-error experiences and deliberations of the developers throughout the material development process, with the intention of offering valuable information that can serve as a foundation for conducting related research by field researchers. These research findings hold value as empirical evidence that can explore the applicability of teaching material development models in fields. The accumulation of such materials is expected to facilitate a cyclical relationship between theoretical teaching models and practical classroom applications.
There were a lot of challenges to reform mathematics education. These challenges may include reforms of teaching and learning methods, development of mathematics curriculum and textbooks, innovative resources for teaching mathematics. Although there is considerable consensus that meeting these challenges will require that mathematics teachers have deep insights about mathematics, about students as learners of mathematics, and about teaching method, the teachers themselves may have little knowledge of them. The most of the professional development includes elective participation in reeducation course, workshop, and special lectures which designed to transmit a specific set of ideas, techniques, or materials to teachers. But such approaches treat mathematics teaching as routine and technical, and also provide limited opportunities for meaningful interactions within the teaching community. So, this paper suggests that what is needed to develop professional teachers of mathematics is community where teachers work with colleagues rather than working alone.
