  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate Seoul teacher's satisfaction with and needs for health examination and health promotion programs. Methods: The participants were 3,186 teachers in Seoul. Data were collected through an on-line survey system from November 16 to December 7, 2008. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe's test using PASW 18.0 program. Results: Teacher's satisfaction with teacher health examination was low and needs for detailed tests of cancer and vocal cord disorders were high. Teacher's satisfaction with teacher health promotion programs was low and needs for stress management, exercise and vocal cord protection program were high. Conclusion: Vocal cord disorders should be included in teacher health examination and vocal cord protection program should be provided for teacher's health promotion. Stress management and exercise program should also be provided for teacher's health promotion.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between organizational commitment, organizational loyalty, and working satisfaction of 162 teachers in daycare centers in Gyung-gi province. Three questionnaires about the organizational commitment which Allen and Mayer(1990) developed and Son Sobin(2002) revised, organizational loyalty behavior which Jo Bumsang(2004) revised, and working satisfaction which Kim Sunja(2005) developed, and the researcher revised were used for this study. For this study, the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, and Pearson correlation. The results were as follows: first, the early childhood teacher's organizational commitment was average, and there was a significant difference according to the teacher's academic background. Second, the early childhood teacher's organizational loyalty was also average, and there were significant differences according to the teacher's age and academic background. Third, the early childhood teacher's working satisfaction was below average level, and there was a significant difference according to the teacher's working hours. Last, the early childhood teacher's organizational commitment, organizational loyalty behavior, and working satisfaction showed the positive relationship. In conclusion, the government and the director of daycare centers should support for the teacher's psychological satisfaction because the early childhood teacher's psychological state is highly related to successful organization of daycare centers.

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of teacher competence on subject satisfaction and career decision of college students majoring in physical education. From April 1 to April 30, 2022, samples were extracted using pur-posive sampling, which is a non-probability sampling method, for physical education majors attending universities of education in Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheong-do, and Daejeon, etc. 400 study participants were sampled and cross-analysis was performed on the final 340 participants. First, Teacher competency had a significant effect on career decision. Second, teacher competency had a significant effect on career decision. Third, teacher competency had a significant effect on career decision. Fourth, subject satisfaction had a significant effect on career decision. Fifth, a causal relationship was established between teacher competency, subject satisfaction, and career decision. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the future career decision of pre-service physical education teachers by investigating the effect of teacher competence on subject satisfaction and career decision of university students majoring in physical education.

  • This study took a cross-sectional, quantitative approach and profiled EFL students' awareness of the writing process and of teacher feedback. The subjects were 113 college students aged 19-26 years from non-English majors, who were enrolled in three sections of a required English course. According to the scores gained from the essay writing assignment, they were divided into two groups (proficient and less-proficient writers) and responded to an in-class survey. Major findings were that: (1) the vast majority of both groups did not find English writing enjoyable; (2) longer comments gave rise to substantial changes to the students' revisions; (3) the less-proficient writers were shown to benefit from revision significantly more than the proficient writers; (4) Both groups of writers utilized multiple strategies to process teacher feedback and preferred to receive teacher comments using complete sentences rather than phrases or single words; and (5) teacher's marks on grammar and vocabulary claimed to be most conducive to EFL writing development. Several important implications for EFL writing instruction and for future studies are suggested.

  • This study was designed to investigate the teacher belief related to children literacy between Korea and U.S.A. using the quantitative research. The instrument for this study was constructed with 35 Likert-scaled questions in a survey questionnaire. Additionally, this study found that there existed significant difference with 20 questions between Korea and U.S.A. based on teacher's belief related to children's literacy and relationship between teachers who learns the whole language and the scores of teacher beliefs about literacy in the research. Seventy-six teachers who work at early childhood settings in State College, Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap, and Lemont in Central Pennsylvania participated in U.S.A. and ninety-one teachers who work at early childhood setting in Seoul and Pusan in Korea participated in this survey. This research has provided a framework for investigating the teacher beliefs about teaching literacy in order to discover the whole language effect on the system of teacher beliefs. This study focused on teacher beliefs towards the whole language approach between Korea and U.S.A.

  • The purpose of the present study was to set up the basic outline to define and to develop "housing education" in the field of home economics education. The main focus included in the present study was to suggest the basic data on the current status of housing education in Korea by examining the content of the textbooks and the secondary data o teacher's educational background. The methods used in the study were the contentanalysis of the elementary school curriculum and the secondary data analysis of the data on teachers and their education. The results of this study ere on follows, 1. The elementary school curriculum defined as the related fields of housing education were classified into 4 domains: housing planning, housing maintenance, housing environment, housing decoration. 2. The subject areas related to housing education was found to be moral education, social education, physical education, art, practical education. The total hours studying on housing education were the average of 1.1 hours per week. 3. Among the above 4 domains, the total hours used for housing decoration amounted to the highest rate through all the subject areas. 4. According to the secondary dta analysis, 49.5% of the teacher were the national teacher's college graduates, but there are no courses on housing education as such in the curriculum of the national teacher's college. it was concluded that more consideration should be given to the teacher training courses.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the infant-teacher interaction and its possible effects. The subjects of this study were 24 child-care teachers from Jungup City, Korea. Among them, 12 teachers participated m the program as an experimental group. The program processed 8 sessions in total, a session a week and 90 minutes for each session. The data was collected by questionnaires of infant-teacher interactions and videotapes of their linguistic and behavioral interactions between infants and teachers. The collected data was analyzed by t-tests, wilcoxon signed-rank tests, and video content analysis. As a result, the teachers in the experimental group showed more significant enhancement than teachers in the comparison group in relation to the post-test of positive linguistic interactions between infant and teacher and teacher' positive reaction.

  • The association constants (K) of 3,5,N-trimethyl pyridinium iodide in 95 volume percent ethanol-water mixed solvent were determined by a modified UV and conductance method at $25^{\circ},\;30{\circ},\;40{\circ}\;and\;50{\circ}C$ over the pressure range 1 to 2000 bars. The association process is enhanced with increasing pressure and decreasing temperature. From K values, we obtained the total partial molar volume change (${\Delta}V$) and some thermodynamic parameters. The electrostriction volume (${\Delta}V_{el}$) and intrinsic volume (${\Delta}V_{in}$) were also evaluated. The values of ${\Delta}V,\;{\Delta}V_{el},\;{\Delta}V_{in}$ are negative, negative and positive, respectively, and the absolute values of all these three decrease with increasing pressure and temperature. The ion-pair size (a) were varied 3 to 6 ${\AA}$, with pressure and temperature. The solvation number (n) decreased from 2 to 0.5 with increasing temperature.
